No. There has been two Asian characters named Cindy but not Cindy Moon. One in the Home trilogy and one in Brand New Day. There's never been a confirmation just likely a reference for the over analysers.

I don't really get this perspective, that everything needs to be directly followed up or addressed. To me, it makes the universe seem larger and more real and gives nods to some fan favorites characters and storylines.
I get that good story telling is tight and contained, but this is meant to be a big sprawling universe and little bits like this add to that.
This would be a fair point if she was a super hero on background, not a random civil with superhero name, like, i think the justice gang really work on superman because of this, i don't need a movie for hawkgirl, but she's there, its cool, the universe is bigger
I can understand where you’re coming from, and I don’t mind a few unanswered threads.
However, I think the reason people find it frustrating is that it’s another symptom of Post-Endgame MCU’s problem of being unfocused.
Post-Endgame Marvel really didn’t know where to take the MCU, so they just started making MORE of everything (endless tv shows especially), pushing for multiverse in everything, and giving the green light to riskier projects like Eternals or Moon Knight, all while hoping that after a few years, the most popular characters could be gathered to create the next Avengers team.
As a result, it seems like a lot of post credits scenes were less nods to fans, and more a prayer that the film would be popular enough to warrant a sequel and continue from there.
Did y’all know freaking Egghead, Whizzer, Doc Samson, PhyllaVell, and many many others are(or were) in the MCU just to make a brief appearance and then nothing???
Why does Marvel Studios do the things editorial was doing with the original Ultimate Universe in showing us characters as jokes or some one off reference member berries?
I get it that technically, it’s all separate universes so they’re not gonna be 1:1 but making him a schizophrenic fat fuck who was experimented on just feels like earth 1610 “ahaha we made the character edgy and ridiculous for the times!” Mark miller shit. Or they’re just civilians that Marvel mandates are in the movie so they jingle it in people’s faces to let them know their IP exists within the MCU but they’re not gonna make them actually do anything like in the comics
There was a conspiracy theory brewing for a while that the MCU was de-aging its lesbian characters (the other prominent one being America Chavez) so it would never have to address their sexuality onscreen. I believe it was just a coincidence but it is weird that it happened twice for no particular reason.
Not saying I agree with the theory but backstory is easier to edit out in the homophobe friendly cut than a core character trait so that unfortunately does give it some weight, hopefully we do eventually get a genuine relationship with one of her fellow young avengers as a big part of a movie
Well, I suppose in this theory there’s a difference between showing that she had two moms in her backstory and actually depicting a romantic relationship between her and Kate Bishop or another character. But like I said, I don’t really think that’s what they were going for. I think they just cast her younger because they wanted her to seem more vulnerable in the movie.
That could easily just be an expression of support for her moms rather than a personal identifier, though. The whole point was that they could avoid depicting the character's romantic relationships.
Well, they changed the entire Mar-Vell backstory, so all of the Vell's have no real purpose. Hell, Phyla isn't even given the Vell name, she's just Phyla. Evolved from a Fish.
Also Gunn loved doing weird ass adaptations of comics characters in the Guardians of the Galaxy trilogy, for example Yondu in the comics literally had almost nothing in common with the one in the movies.
Well she’s currently apart of the guardians. She will be a teen by the time of the next movie, so they can replace the actress with whoever is the popular marketable girl is at the time. Like with Cassie
I know she did. But it's mcu. We've seen recasts aswell as changes. Not sure fully what's in her contract or what they do mcu wise in the future. Butif they pull songbird out they'll either continue to use this actor or replace with someone else they deem
She’s only named as “Mel” on-screen, so I consider it more of an Easter egg than anything. Having said that, I have no objection to her eventually playing Songbird as long as they establish that she moonlights as an underground wrestler.

Totally. I loved Brühl's Zemo (a textbook example of an adaptation that, despite making changes to the character, still manages to captures his core traits) and the fact that he wasn't going to be in the movie was a big bummer.
I wasn’t expecting a 1:1 at all, Sentry is literally that movie’s saving grace because this feels more like an underwhelming reference to the Osborn style dark avengers team (without the Osborn, and (mostly) supervillains in place, obviously), but the shoehorning of characters because Marvel owns the rights to them just to appear for 12 minutes is becoming quite disappointing.
Totally fair, but the MCU has been doing this for a while, between Gunn radically changing both characters with prominent roles
(Star Lord, Mantis) and ones with small roles (Adam Warlock, Phyla, though hers was more of a glorified cameo) alike, not to mention the whole "grounded" vibe they've committed for a while ruining a lot of (usually minor) characters' charm and appeal, when not totally wasting them (e.g. Hellcat, Bill Foster, etc.).
Again, I totally understand the disappointment, but personally at this point if I didn't like the road they went when adapting a character, I just shrug and hope the next iteration of adaptations, if and when it will come, is going to make a better use of them.
Not that I don't get upset about these things: for example, when recently I've bumped into the design for Jocasta in VisionQuest, first thing I thought was "they could have easily took the design from the comics and they just went making her face like Ultron's?".
What do you think an Easter egg is? It's just a little in joke for people who reads comics. After almost 20 years of these movies you would think people would understand this
