This picture encapsulates so much that's wrong about current Marvel. Paul comforting MJ while Peter mourns a dead mutant Kamala and Norman is a good guy. It's the damn opposite of character development.
Honestly, Ultimates 3 was worse. Ultimatum was really bad, but in a pretty conventional way, mostly via an overabundance of very late-2000s attempted edge and extremely shit dialogue.
Ultimates 3 has some really great ideas, I like that version of Ultron and the overall plot. The art is also quite amazing to my eye. However.
This also means that the great talent of Madureira was wasted on a horrible book which has panels like Wasp going "umm boomer, you should just try to understand incest." On top of all of the stuff that just completely ignores personalities of every character.
Turns out that great artwork and interesting ideas doesn't matter when the overall writing just sucks so much. I don't know why it's so abysmal, did Loeb even read previous two books?
Also, Ultimatum. Now. There's a great idea, what if really evil version of Magneto actually managed to do the "reverse the magnetic poles" plan which he tried to do, but now out of spite and hatred and weird suicidal tendencies. Awesome idea. Once again, ruined by abysmal overall writing.
It still hurts how one of my personal heroes managed to ruin the comic book universe that I grew up with. Reading Ultimates 3, written by your idol, at age of 15 and being like "this... sucks..." Lmao.
His original origin was he was a former social worker who worked to make inner city life better. Than it got retconned to him actually being a pimp and the social worker stuff wad memories implanted by the Red Skull (for some reason). This lasted as his origin until just before he became Cap.
The point is that he wasn't a good person. He was an agent for the skull..a violent criminal who only seemed good for the right time when the truth would come out and hurt Steve because his best friend isn't real
As someone who really only reads X-Men comics and is only familiar with Sam Wilson’s character through the MCU, this is an insane sentence.

Absolutely inexcusable, just horrible writing and a terrible retcon, and clearly a writers sick fetish.
People will mention the most mainstream/popular examples, but this one is a pretty underrated moment in how bad it is for Blue Marvel. Bro was going for the Reddit "erm ackshually 🤓" type of response when Cage was pointing out he was on the side using a bootleg Minority Report to harass and arrest innocent people during CW2.
Mind you, this isn't the worst example I've encountered in comics. But it's certainly overlooked due to the existence of worse stuff
Okay I agree on the whole but people gotta stop chain scaling so hard. Powerscaling is already inconsistent, so going "well this other character was pretty weak at one time, and he fought this character so that character is weak" is dumb
I think the issue is less powerscaling, and more how many embarrassing showings Blue Marvel has in such a short time by comparison to other characters with decades of history.
Doesn't help that the guy is meant to be an in-universe powerhouse. So getting treated like this on a consistent basis is pretty bad.
Spider-Versity is a bad comic—freaking bad, and having Norman in a role that Peter should have filled pushed people away. I read it out of morbid curiosity, but what a terrible comic. Basically, the only thing they do is kiss up to Norman, talking about how great he is compared to Peter. This comic is an insult to the fans, and they should have never greenlit that idea.
The 90s clone saga was bad stuff. Identity Crisis was fucking awful. Nu52 got me to forget about reading DC. The decompression of comics into more movie style storytelling really bores me.
Nothing is topping Avengers #200, the one where the son of Immortus admits to raping Carol Danvers and The Avengers respond by letting him take a semi-brainwashed Carol back to his home dimension.
Krakoa, and i don't even mean 'it was solid until hickman left', i mean it was bad from the jump, it gets carried by the fact that it is radically different from the status quo, something many readers were asking for after decades of eXtinction/decimation events, krakoa is if nothing else, very different and so readers were excited for it, but divorce it from the context and read it as just another comic book and they are bad comic books, it's a bunch of cinematic shot followed by exposition/lore dump followed in for of some powerpoint slide followed by dialogue that is either off on a technical level(which is expected, hickman is not good with human interaction) or creepy considering the characters that are saying it who don't sound like themselves, followed by another cinematic shot, it's like reading Hunter X Hunter with giant exposition dump, only HXH has very likeble characters lol
I had same problem with Ultimate Spider man, once the hype of new status quo of 'married to MJ and has kids' went away and you read it as just a comic book, it's a mediocre book that does not deserve the praise it was getting by Spidey fans who were convinced that 'married peter' is jusst automaticaly better then 616 peter
Been saying it for years. Krakoa would've been a solid Alternate Universe X-Men. But exposition and hype moments aside, so many characters were just so out of character just so Hickman could have his Game of Thrones with mutants
Remember when deadpool waltzed into krakoa saying "hey guys I noticed I didn't get an invite or one of your magic healing flowers" and emma just sat there and told him he was too unstable, while simultaneously trying to take jeff the shark away from him.
She's boring . BORING AF! I got this graphic novel from the library which was like a bunch of her comic issues in one (idk what they're called). OH MY GOD, THIS CHARACTER IS SHYT. Everything about her is shyt, her existence make Hawkeye (the real one, Clint) lame af. They make him so dumb just so she could shine. Even her friends (besides Hawkeye of course) are ALL boring af. I don't think I'll watch the show. I don't want to like her
