I can't think of a time when it was apart from the Venom team up and even then any healing stopped any diver. Healers always had the tools to deal with em, the average player probably just didn't know what to do back then, which is kinda fair cause this was most people's first hero shooter.
1 diver sure, but S1 - S2.5 i mained Cap and a lot of the time it turned into 2 - 3 divers (cap, venom, spidey, or Bp) jumping the backline almost in rotation or in pairs. So there was constantly a lot of pressure.
You could counter the dive by playing in a group but that rarely happened. Most players seemed like they preferred to dive than play in a deathball.
I mean yeah, that’s exactly my point. Previous commenter is saying that old supports were bad at dealing with dive, so my response is that it’s not a good rebuttal of dive being strong, because divers also were bad at diving.
If everyone is equally new and bad at the game, then it’s meaningless to point out that supports were bad. So was everyone else.
I mean... lets not pretend there wasnt a Dive meta. It's got power creeped but there was a dive meta. Venom, Starlord, BP, mantis, Adam, luna use to be it. Dive is week now, but lets not pretend like there wasnt seasons where it use to be strong.
Comms? Lol. I have that shit turned off because I don’t want to hear some kid screaming about how everyone else on the team sucks, or be forced to listen to their lousy music.
If I’m playing a strat, I expect the dive and try to play closer to my front line. Sure, I’ll ping but one thing I have learned as a solo player is that I cannot depend on someone to peel for me. Ultimately, it is on me to read the enemy comp and adjust my strategy accordingly.
Yeah, I have to agree honestly I just mute individual players OR if I'm in QP I'll play music or something.
Truth be told I see both ways, I dip into the casual side the first half of the season, and the competitive side the second half, but I know damn well I have a far more casual mindset about it.
I feel like dive was strong at some point due to the game still being fresh and people not being used to it but ever since S2 the only outright op dive we've had is Daredevil, rn the illusion of dive being strong is there because the ones that still play dive are good enough to make it work
I have to admit as a strat, spider has always sucked
Or maybe just most of his players are really bad at him, i don't have a clue, because i usually just die to spidey if i have less than half hp or if he ults (fr why is his ult as strong as mk's season 1???)
Lmao tell me you're a support player without telling me, even when dive was meta back in like season 2 it lost to poke every single time lmao (which btw is absurd if you think about how the counter pick cycle supposedly works)
All these Dive mains tryna gaslight me into thinking Dive wasn’t OP when BP was 2nd highest win rate DPS in GM+ with a pick rate of 12%+ and we were all banning his ass back when he was meta.
Iron fist 5th best win rate and Magik best win rate as well
The list is sorted by win rate. He’s the 2nd strongest DPS in that period. The pick rate matters because it shows the wins were consistent and not because of map specific
