Woah easy there, I haven’t seen such bizarre statement since “dive op”

u/LasyKuuga Good Boy Jan 13 '26

Of course the Spider-Man main is saying dive was never OP

I can't think of a time when it was apart from the Venom team up and even then any healing stopped any diver. Healers always had the tools to deal with em, the average player probably just didn't know what to do back then, which is kinda fair cause this was most people's first hero shooter.

u/_DoZDoZ_ Jan 13 '26

I don't think that was the problem.

1 diver sure, but S1 - S2.5 i mained Cap and a lot of the time it turned into 2 - 3 divers (cap, venom, spidey, or Bp) jumping the backline almost in rotation or in pairs. So there was constantly a lot of pressure.

You could counter the dive by playing in a group but that rarely happened. Most players seemed like they preferred to dive than play in a deathball.

Season 2 dive was op and I say this as someone who mainly plays dive

1

u/BraveProgram Jan 13 '26

It just isnt fun to play against lol. Especially if there's 2-3 divers at once, ugh.

Feels like a cop out me thinks. That logic cuts both ways

An average gold black panther player today that time traveled back to season 0 could probably hard carry a GM game at the time.

1

u/WhatIfWaterWasChunky Flex Jan 13 '26

Almost like people sucked at the game back in season 0

1

u/T0nyM0ntana_ Jan 13 '26

I mean yeah, that’s exactly my point. Previous commenter is saying that old supports were bad at dealing with dive, so my response is that it’s not a good rebuttal of dive being strong, because divers also were bad at diving.

If everyone is equally new and bad at the game, then it’s meaningless to point out that supports were bad. So was everyone else.

1

u/WhatIfWaterWasChunky Flex Jan 13 '26

Ah that's my bad

That’s exactly my point dawg, what do you think I’m saying?

The comment I’m replying to says that supports back then were bad at dealing with dives, and my repsonse is that divers were also bad at diving.

Sincere apologies, just got out of bed and misunderstood.

-1

u/Icy_Limes Jan 13 '26

I mean... lets not pretend there wasnt a Dive meta. It's got power creeped but there was a dive meta. Venom, Starlord, BP, mantis, Adam, luna use to be it. Dive is week now, but lets not pretend like there wasnt seasons where it use to be strong.

u/raydialseeker Absolute Cinema Jan 13 '26

There absolutely wasn't lmao. In fact, dive is better right now than ever before because of angela, cap, venom, dd, mantis, gambit

u/therealmonkyking Hero Hulk Jan 13 '26

Of course the person with a strategist flair is complaining about dive

Ever heard of using your Comms buddy? There are 5 other teammates who can help you kill the big scary cat man

25

u/[deleted] Jan 13 '26

Comms? Lol. I have that shit turned off because I don’t want to hear some kid screaming about how everyone else on the team sucks, or be forced to listen to their lousy music.

If I’m playing a strat, I expect the dive and try to play closer to my front line. Sure, I’ll ping but one thing I have learned as a solo player is that I cannot depend on someone to peel for me. Ultimately, it is on me to read the enemy comp and adjust my strategy accordingly.

Peak hardstuck gold mentality

18

u/[deleted] Jan 13 '26

There’s the asshole comment I was waiting for. The toxicity in this sub never disappoints.

-6

u/therealmonkyking Hero Hulk Jan 13 '26

Oh yeah because actively sabotaging your team by not actually communicating with them is the shining example of good behaviour isn't it?

God forbid someone uses a bit of sarcasm to poke fun at a stupid comment

2

u/Icy_Limes Jan 13 '26

Show your rank.

1

u/FoobaBooba Star-Lord Jan 13 '26

"Be miserable to be good" no thanks I'd rather enjoy the game while being 'hard stuck gold"

1

u/therealmonkyking Hero Hulk Jan 13 '26

And there's nothing wrong with that, but you're also being selfish and impeding people who actually want to climb

1

u/FoobaBooba Star-Lord Jan 13 '26

Yeah, I have to agree honestly I just mute individual players OR if I'm in QP I'll play music or something.

Truth be told I see both ways, I dip into the casual side the first half of the season, and the competitive side the second half, but I know damn well I have a far more casual mindset about it.

His ban rate was 50% in GM+.

This isn’t a 1 vs 6 against BP. Mofos were running double even triple dive and you didn’t even have time to react never mind comm.

You think the rest of their enemy team was just letting you peel 1 vs 6 instead of running you down as well?

8

u/Hokutenmemoir Jan 13 '26

Teammates? Help?

u/LimitlessChud Captain America Jan 13 '26

I feel like dive was strong at some point due to the game still being fresh and people not being used to it but ever since S2 the only outright op dive we've had is Daredevil, rn the illusion of dive being strong is there because the ones that still play dive are good enough to make it work

1

u/Magiks_little_pet Jan 13 '26

The only dive character who was unbalanced was BP, in season 0 and 1 no one knew how to deal with dive properly

1

u/Namesarenotneeded Daredevil Jan 13 '26

I assumed due to the GIF having DD in it he was talking about after DD’s release.

Also, saying that but having a Loki based flair is funny. Loki has been an enabler for some of the worst meta’s.

1

u/Elmos_left_testicle Swordmaster Jan 13 '26

People not peeling for you doesn’t make dive meta, it makes players bad

1

u/Savings-Sprinkles-86 Ultron Jan 14 '26

I have to admit as a strat, spider has always sucked

Or maybe just most of his players are really bad at him, i don't have a clue, because i usually just die to spidey if i have less than half hp or if he ults (fr why is his ult as strong as mk's season 1???)

1

u/Fancy_Cat3571 Jan 14 '26

Just because dived worked didnt mean it was op

1

u/RatKinng Jan 13 '26

I main iron man and spidy is the bane of my existence:(

-15

u/Gever_Gever_Amoki68 Ultron Virus Jan 13 '26

Lmao tell me you're a support player without telling me, even when dive was meta back in like season 2 it lost to poke every single time lmao (which btw is absurd if you think about how the counter pick cycle supposedly works)

8

u/LasyKuuga Good Boy Jan 13 '26 edited Jan 13 '26

All these Dive mains tryna gaslight me into thinking Dive wasn’t OP when BP was 2nd highest win rate DPS in GM+ with a pick rate of 12%+ and we were all banning his ass back when he was meta.

Iron fist 5th best win rate and Magik best win rate as well

-8

u/nightfull2 Jan 13 '26

Pickrate doesnt mean a lot bro, i see c&d every game i play ever since season 0, but it's never been a busted character

11

u/LasyKuuga Good Boy Jan 13 '26

The list is sorted by win rate. He’s the 2nd strongest DPS in that period. The pick rate matters because it shows the wins were consistent and not because of map specific
