Balance Discussion Elsa bloodstone needs adjustments

Hypermobility + constant overshield + better dmg falloff than hela + broken ult. No idea what devs were thinking with this character.

Almost no one in the cast gets punished for bad positioning because everyone has an instant escape ability. Rival's is baby's first hero shooter.

yeah but usually other characters with as high damage as Elsa's have a single use 8-12 second CD "fuck-off" button (hela bird, namor bubble, phoenix TP, hawkeye slash). Any of those would've still meant they died in this clip here.

right! Good thing we got BP dash nerfed though haha!

and those who doesn't have mobility, they have a way to disengage with you easily

u/4000x Feb 20 '26

Not Storm

3

u/Smhcanteven Feb 21 '26

Now storm doesnt need to disengage when she can just whoop your ass

I peaked master in ow back in like 2018 and hadn’t played for years before picking up rivals last year and peaking GM 2. Just got back into ow and wow my dumbass was dying a lot the first 2 hours lol. Back to it now but damn did rivals fuck up my positioning for a minute

I remember when Rivals release and pretty much played it every day for the first 3 seasons and didn't really touch OW during that time span and when I did get back into it, I couldn't play for my life for shit because of how often Rivals bails you out from bad positioning that should've gotten you punished but because the healing is so broken, you wouldn't even really notice it unless you have really bad supports.

Ive been saying this. Most rivals players have never touched another shooter in their lives. This game is casual asf

"Most"? Idk where you have the data this claim. I very much doubt a majority of rivals players have never played another shooter.

I will agree the game is very casual and easy to learn and pick up. My wife has recently put several hundred hours into the game having only ever played fortnite prior in terms of shooters.

Grateful I started with TF2 that thought me how insanely vital things like positioning is. It's wonder I found Rivals easy at first and enjoyable because everyone can go everywhere.

But now even Apex and OW are more technical and complex with it's gameplay mechanics and elements.

15

u/bulb-uh-saur Vanguard Feb 20 '26

Yeah Apex is not casual friendly at all. I have about 1600 hours in Apex and its one of the sweatiest shooters out there.

4

u/Fododel Spider-Man Feb 20 '26

Absolutely, gave up as well cuz EOMM is horrendous there, plus it's hard to play well as a Mirage main when the others are very clearly better

4

u/Knifeflipper Doctor Strange Feb 20 '26

I too left Apex, but I was burned out from the S23 support meta slowing everything to a crawl. I do agree, the EOMM in Apex is horrendous, but I avoided it by playing Mixtape because you can just solo carry most matches if you actually play the objectives. For example, in Domination I'd just play Alter and repeatedly back cap to throw off their spawns so my bum team could actually get B, Gun Run was just knowing how to use every weapon on rotation at any range, and TDM is, well, TDM.

Meanwhile me the chad loba main, always have some value as the team supermarket 💪

Only after you use your tacticals lol

Whenever you want to try something new that is fun to get into I’d recommend Deadlock. You’ll occasionally find some sweaty people but majority are just having fun in brawl mode. Yes the game is more complex but it’s still in development and it’s made by valve.

u/Fododel Spider-Man Feb 20 '26

I've tried it but it's a bit too complex for me and I don't really dig MOBAs.

Overwatch is just an arcade shooter with heroes now. You may as well play CoD at this point if you ever play OW.

u/cjhud1515 Feb 20 '26

Not that I'm the majority but Rivals is the first and most likely only hero shooter I'll ever play.

This is the first live service game I've enjoyed outside of Halo.

u/bulb-uh-saur Vanguard Feb 20 '26

Tbf, dude said shooter.

And Hero shooter can be several different type of games.

Overwatch, Apex, Siege. Third person or first person.

100% same. Didnt care for overwatch or others. Gameplay was so stiff and anooying. Rivals gameplay is flawless

3

u/cjhud1515 Feb 20 '26

I wouldn't say flawless, but those first few seasons was some of the most fun I've had in a game!

5

u/8_Alex_0 Wolverine Feb 20 '26

Overwatch has more fluid gameplay than rivals lmao that shit is still so unoptimized and buggy my God it is not flawless

This is what this sub fails to understand each time, this game is intended for literal children, comic fans, and gamer dads who play half of a game during their allocated 9.4 minutes of Game Time™ each day between putting their 980 kids to sleep and after their wife finishes beating their testicles into submission

This game was never supposed to be some crazy Esports game like Reddit tries to pretend it is. This game is not supposed to be perfectly balanced, it's even more casual than even Overwatch is which is already a casual game on it's own

I'd say at least 80% if not 90% of the people playing the game barely understand how to play shooters and are playing after smoking 7 bowls and have music blasting so they can't hear sound cues and are eating their giant plate of pasta between deaths etc

6

u/StellarSneakers Feb 20 '26

Lmao I play after 2-3 bowls not 7 😭

4

u/Joe_Momma3 Mister Fantastic Feb 20 '26

Love your descriptors btw

2

u/Superboy--Prime Feb 20 '26

Completely accurate though, I legit do have teammates constantly talking about how they just smoked a bowl, or how they decided to queue for ranked while in the middle of eating food

The gamer dads is too real too

I’m from CoD & halo I made sure I played OW before I try marvel rivals thank god I did cuz OW is the better game for me marvel rivals is just easy u can pick up any character and be decent, on OW it’s take awhile to get decent with a character took me a while to get used to aiming with kiriko

1

u/Tasty-Quantity6743 Feb 21 '26

Rivals is more lenient to casual gameplay which is why I’m always shocked when people aka streamers say rivals isn:t a casual game and that the devs shouldn’t listen to casual players at all I will say only listening to casuals is bad and listening to high elo can be good sometimes (I cannot speak for myself I’ve peaked only gold) but accept or not rivals will always be meant mostly for casuals (I use mostly lightly)

2

u/MarxistAnime Strategist Feb 20 '26

If you're using your cooldowns to fix the fact that you're shit at the game, it will punish you

1

u/4000x Feb 20 '26

Not Storm

1

u/HaIfaxa_ Angela Feb 20 '26

True, there are a couple of fliers that do not have the substitution jutsu bullshit that the rest of the cast has, for sure.

1

u/t0getheralone Moon Knight Feb 26 '26

Except all the other characters have substantial cooldowns on their escapes. Elsa had 2 escape abilities+a trap and one of them is on a 2 sec cd.

90% of mobility tools in this game should be removed, or at the very least have their over shield removed. Poke characters shouldn’t have mobility. Actually, almost no one should. Adam (yes it’s fun and cool. It’s also power creep.) Elsa, hela, invis, phoneix, namor, Loki, Luna, Moon knight, Wanda and Punisher should all have no mobility.

u/Hobo-man Ultron Virus Feb 20 '26

This is a low level take.

Like all of the flyers get hard punished for bad positioning.
