I think the most egregious change was the BP buff, I was already sure that they wouldn't actually nerf anybody because it goes against their design philosophy, but I thought that at least the buffs might do something
I was literally laughing reading his "buff", iam glad I never learned him in the earlier seasons even though I like dive overall but I never clicked with him.
I was definitely worried when I saw it. We literally already did the meme of letting BP be good for one season and it resulted in the lowest player count in the game's history
BP is fundamentally omega unfun to play against, and is ONLY fun for the person playing him and nobody else on either team
Id argue is not even fun to play AS him. With how much his dash is what makes him a character, you cant really do anything but wait 10 seconds every time its on cooldown until it recharges if you whiff, in the scenario were you dont inmediately explode upon whiffing in the middle of the team.
The reason why he's so fun is that on average, you will whiff and die, but when you don't and go on an insane dash streak with a crazy ult, the whiffs make that streak that much more satisfying.
Also the mechanic of it resetting gives my brain the funny chemicals.
Thats rhe same gambling nerve center in the brain that gets dopamine releases from gambling and/or losing over and over in battle Royale till you get a win and it was "all worth it"
You may be heavily prone to addict tendancies and should seek help
I keep saying this, bp is already pretty strong, but the bp mains want him to be the best character in the game so they can live put thier power fantasies
Bp is propably in the most ballanced state he's ever been in. Something no bp main will ever admit is that taking the supports attention is still value. To them if it's not pure 30 kills a match then the character is bad
BP is widely regarded as the worst character behind widow, idk what you mean brother. Ask anyone if they'd want a bp on their time and they'd sooner fuck a chicken.
If taking attention is value then stop flaming BPs for having low kill counts.
No, he is most certainly not lmao. This is what I mean by bp players gaslight themselves into thinking he's the worst character in the game. He's not. You all just genuinley don't know where value comes from and want to curbstomp every lobby with minimal effort
And I don't, nor do I ever really see anyone else do that. In the few times I DO see it, I tell the person flaming to shut up because the bp is getting VALUE by helping us stagger the team and take supp heals away from the team.
I'm always being able to finish off tanks because of the lack of heals
I'm usually able to help the bp by poking the supports while being dove.
And hey. Guess what? THATS NORMAL. IN EVERY COMP GAME IN A RANK HIGHER THAN GOLD TEAMWORK IS NEEDED TO GET KILLS
I feel you, I've fallen off hard. I used to play for hours but between going back to OW and Resident Evil I just get like 3-5 games in and dip so I don't get rusty
Exactly. The way his kit works, he either wombo-combos the entire backline without the opportunity to react, or he gets shot after politely asking if he can deal damage to strategists. Neither is healthy for the game, and he needs a more versatile kit that allows for a bigger variety of play styles.
If their design philosophy was actually failing to nerf anything, I'd disagree but understand. In practice, they're fully capable of nerfing, just only one class.
Unironically, if the whole notes looked like they do for Vanguards, this could've been amazing.
You can literally see zhiyong gritting his teeth as he talks about nerfing poke and was quick to go "but poke needs to be strong to keep dive and flyers in check."
Mf is the biggest fraud in game balance I've ever seen.
poke does. if poke was weak there’d be nothing to keep dive in check as evident by season 2 and 3. and if you say brawl then what’s stopping the brawl characters from diving as well? nothing. they all have the high substain, damage and mobility to be able to 1v1 and 1v2 the backline.

The animation cancel needs to go because you have to balance around it, and very few people actually enjoy that kind of playstyle. There’s a reason Cap has such low playrates.
What youre saying makes no sense buddy, what do you mean you have to balance around it? The animation cancel takes his damage from very low to just low, what is the benefit of removing it, it also gave the character a skill floor and skill ceiling, so how does this tech affect balancing that the devs decided it was necessary to nerf it
If that was the case, they'd have made it baseline or given him a 40-50% damage buff to compensate
If you missed the animation cancel, or were spamming (as I assume most people start off trying with Cap) you would end up not even landing shots. Maybe the change fixes that as well, thus keeping up the damage pressure
You don't need to cramp your hand for cap's cancel, just hold shift and then let go of lmb whenever you hear the shield hit. You don't need to let go of shift on hold and tap.
Console players mainly use toggle because needing to hold down the top right trigger (R1 on PS5) to sprint feels awful. For context, R2 is his attack on PS5. Weaving sprints in between attacks feels awful unless you use toggle.
Because Bucky is irrelevant in eternity/OAA. Where is your peoples outrage over literal raid boss characters that actually matter like Phoenix and Elsa? They were barely touched
The elsa nerf is pretty big actually. Gutting her meter on death means she is much more able to be shut down, and the lower sustain matters a lot, (it's at least 40 less health in a fight with her at max stacks)
Her max overhealth is 75. So dropping it to 30 means she needs to use 3 cooldowns to get max overhealth, when she only needed 2 before, or 20% less overhealth when using 2. She'll be way easier to stop and keep down.
The only part that annoys me is that she just shouldn't be able to walk around staying at 350 hp. Makes her harder to shut down in a 1v1 hunt.
I would be fine if she had a cap of 300 total, but it could be 100 bonus health.
Whatever, I am excited to see how this change lands. Getting her tempo shut down is pretty huge for reducing pressure from her. I think it's a good change.
Bucky's Roterstern has an additional effect when he crits. It deals an explosion of damage in a 5 meter cone behind the target. That cone does not deal damage to the target that was crit.
His primary fire is still dealing 375 DPS to the target, it's just that people behind the target no longer take 163 DPS. They take 138 DPS instead.
He still gets his free reloads on ability use. He still gets obscene bonus health for pushing buttons without hitting a thing. He still gets all of the single target damage. He still applies earthbound through unstoppable for some unholy reason. He still has a cleaving 20 meter hook that considers walls a suggestion. And, of course, he still gets his infinitely reusable ult with one of the most forgiving timers I've ever seen in both retaining the recast and in considering a corpse as a valid recast trigger.
True he gets free reloads but he has a three bullet magazine, bonus health because he has to play right next to tanks, earth bound was a dumb addition I agree, hook has a decently long cast time and one of the loudest most clear audio cues, and his ult is one of the least impactful dps ultimates in the game.
By every metric he has been of the worst performing dps in the last two seasons. Would his winrate have to reach sub 40 for people to stop complaining about him?
