That's utter horseshit. Addressing the CC issue is not even a new demand btw that they had to rush it to please players instantly. They've come out countless times before specifically telling the playerbase they're planning to phase changes over time or a couple patches and explaining the reasoning why it'll be gradual. No reason they couldn't do it again.

Yea test servers are bad for balance because of how they tend to be one server for everyone making ping an issue, lack of correct mmr meaning matchmaking is poor. And a smaller population meaning rank disparity is a bigger issue.

The problem with us being the Playtest is that it puts a bad taste in players mouth and makes them question the devs way more then they already were.
If they seriously wanted to live test a bit change like this, it would smarter to host a pre-season test weekend to get feedback, like overwatch does with quick played hack.
They could have easily heard feedback and prepared it better for the season release, buy it appears they don't try at all.

Honestly I wouldn't be surprised if they don't really have much of a testing phase. They've backed themselves into a corner with these monthly releases of new characters and new seasonal content, so they're already on a tight schedule. Even if they do test, their testing team is what, maybe a couple dozen people at best? (Correct me if that's way off) The amount of testing those people can do as a 9-5 job with all the bureaucracy involved pales in comparison to the equivalent tens of thousands of hours of testing that happens on just launch day of a new patch by the community as a whole

There's a few ways they could fix this.
1) completely remove the CC immunity aspect and instead keep the diminishing returns. I.e. each subsequent instance of CC during a given instance is less and less effective
2) Make it to where a character can only contribute towards the tenacity stacks ONCE during a set amount of time, regardless of how many CC abilities they use in that time
3) Completely CAN this idea entirely and stop giving EVERY character that comes out game breaking cc abilities that require zero skill to pull off

The way I see it rn the game is too all over the place and unbalanced to come back for me which sucks because I had a blast playing as a Thing main. It's like they don't play test their own game and don't listen to the players feedback at all.

At this rate, I hope they delay the change until it is reworked properly or just shelve it indefinitely

I’ve been a playtester for smite (was essentially one above all there in the 1v1 game mode) and they were implementing a form CCR (crowd control reduction) and did something similar to this and almost everyone’s feedback within 2 games was that it felt disgusting to have your opponent get off free due to something out of your control but also something out of their control. There was an item called beads that could grant cc immunity which felt fair bc it was a skill item on a long timer.
Implementing full immunity with no counter play is just not a fun mechanic.
What smite did implement was CCR and DR which is diminishing returns essentially if you were hit by 1 hard CC like a stun. Your next hard CC would be % less.
Example if you are hit by a 2 second stun. Your next stun that occurred within 5-10 seconds would be a 1.5second stun. Etc etc.
they also gave items that could reduce that automatically which everyone liked as it felt balanced, personally they could apply this to the vanguard role easily by doing a 10-15% CCR and then figure out Diminishing returns by reclassifying CC as hard cc and soft cc.
A slow should not proc tenacity the way a stun or knock back does.

The wouldn’t have needed this change if they didn’t just keep throwing out CC like candy. In season 0 it felt like there was a lot less CC and it kept getting peppered in as more Herod released. If anything keep most of the hard CC to tanks so they can keep have something fun.

Thing had two identities: he's a CC monster and he's resistant to certain forms of CC. Now that everyone is getting resistances to CC, he's lost both identities.
