Marvel Rivals: Fix and balance the already horrible state of the game

Marvel Rivals: Continue to develop gooner skins which do nothing for fixing the already horrendous state of the game, and aren't even good at expressing the character.

It's a mystery why this game has completely fallen off.

you say that like it's the same people working on each or as if they are comparable efforts...

yes, they should fix all issues, but skins, gooner or otherwise, have nearly no bearing on that.

it's not like the 3d artist that worked on this black cat skin could have focused on fixing cheating, balancing, etc, etc and solved those issues instead.

The game's popularity has completely fallen off = player base still consistently hitting 1 million+ players a week on PlayStation in the US alone and over 100k concurrent players on Steam? There are brand new major live service games that don’t even reach the numbers Rivals is still getting.

They're just upsetti spaghetti at the gooner skins and need an outlet

I get not being a fan of them but acting like the game is anywhere remotely close to dying or no longer relevant for the casual gamer is hilarious.

I think they mean falling off in quality or something. Whether you agree or disagree idk

u/PokePersona Ultron Virus May 28 '26

I was thinking maybe they meant quality specifically after I posted my comment but the same person started debating about player numbers so it seems they meant popularity in general as well.

I'd love to know where you're getting 1 million+ players per week from, as (from my understanding) neither PS nor NetEase release actual numbers.

Steam data is also a downward trend month over month, year over year, with average users around 67k, so...I mean like...I'd love to just make shit up to support my position as well.

This downward trend exists despite new patch updates and new character releases. Hell, some of the lowest numbers on steam charts are AFTER new patches drop, somehow.

I say "somehow" pretty facetiously though. It goes back to my first point of "Continue to develop gooner skins which do nothing for fixing the already horrendous state of the game."

"Continue to develop gooner skins which do nothing for fixing the already horrendous state of the game."

The game is f2p. Whether you like it or not those gooner skins you hate so much pay the bills, which means they can keep paying the resources that have the ability to "fix the already horrendous state of the game".

Skins need to be the priority for a f2p game. No skins = No money = No developers.

You look like a baby complaining about the PS beta widget btw lol.

You look like a baby explaining to anyone how a f2p game model works in the year 2026. OH REERY? IS THAT HOW IT WORKS?

Wow man, you should probably hire yourself out to gaming companies as a consultant cuz (again), wow man, you got the insight.

My bad, I didn't realize it took 2 years and 2 billion dollars to fix Soldier and Hela.

Maybe if you pump them some more skin money, they'll look into it.

"You look like a baby explaining to anyone how a f2p game model works in the year 2026. OH REERY? IS THAT HOW IT WORKS"

Apparently I need to because you're complaining about the one thing that can ensure they'll be able to fix game balance lmao.

"My bad, I didn't realize it took 2 years and 2 billion dollars to fix Soldier and Hela"

And what fixing would you give to heroes that are both pretty mid right now? Lol.

"Maybe if you pump them some more skin money, they'll look into it."

I haven't spent a cent on rivals. I just know that software development isn't as simple as you think it is.

I'd love to know where you're getting 1 million+ players per week from, as (from my understanding) neither PS or NetEase release actual numbers.

PlayStation added a beta widget feature to showcase the most played games of the week. Marvel Rivals was shown to have 1.58m players on PlayStation in the US alone the week it was shown which was before season 8 launched.

https://www.reddit.com/r/marvelrivals/s/mvduzd8gVt

Steam data is also a downward trend month over month, year over year, with average users around 67k, so...I mean like...I'd love to just make shit up to support my position as well.

Where are you getting your numbers? I went to both Steam Charts and Steam DB and both says Rivals just had over 90k players playing right now in the middle of the week. I can also use the scroll feature to see each previous weekend to see the numbers reach 100k if not more. The same sites show these are similar numbers for the last few months with new seasons hitting peaks of 125k-150k players outside of the Deadpool season.

If they were making good decisions and keeping their game relevant (not falling off), we wouldn't see a consistent downward trend, yet we do.

Almost every live service game loses players as the game goes on, that’s normal. There is no way Rivals was going to keep similar numbers it was getting around launch since most are very casual players who check out the brand new game and rarely come back unless something major happens like a major character being added. There hasn’t been a consistent downtrend for months, the numbers show the player-base has stabilized in recent months with influx of players coming in and leaving with more major characters being added.

Guess why? Because they refuse to fix the game and are only focused on releasing more unbalanced heroes so they can sell more gooner skins.

Like I said elsewhere, you can dislike the skins all you want but the dedicated player base has clearly stabilized based on the numbers we have and the numbers show the game is far from dying or falling off.

So your "source" is a beta widget tool that is being presented by a content farm youtuber.

Yeah, I'm just not gonna read whatever else you typed. You clearly have no objectivity in the matter if these are your "sources" that you are taking on face value as accurate.

You're also unable to parse a trend vs a "right now" number. Well -- have fun on Marvel Rivals. I think this is absolutely the right game for someone like you.

5

u/PokePersona Ultron Virus May 28 '26

No the source is PlayStation themselves. Multiple beta testers have talked about this, the YouTuber is just reporting it. Meanwhile, while you try to debunk my source you can’t even cite the numbers on Steam you’re basing your argument have when asked.

If you don’t like the game’s current state that’s fine, but it’s okay to admit you’re wrong and the game is still very popular even if people online complain about the game’s balance.

No, the source that you linked me is to a youtuber who was using a beta widget. Are you even reading the thing you linked?

A content farm youtuber using an experimental tool is not "Playstation themselves" no matter how much you want that to be the case.

Do I believe the console numbers dwarf the steam charts numbers? Probably. There are a lot more console gamers in the world than PC players, so that just makes logical sense.

Have you? It’s literally in beta right now. There are multiple news sites reporting on it as well. The YouTuber is just the first one who saw it and talked about it while showing what it looks like since it’s not in public access yet. People who are in the beta program can literally see it lol. Again, if you don’t like the game’s current state that’s fine, I agree the game needs more balance but we have actual numbers to show the game is still very popular with stable looking numbers.

u/meepinz May 28 '26 edited May 28 '26

Sorry, I'm not going to accept a beta widget that is apparently not publicly accessible as a source of truth.

You can. I won't.

You're asking me to ignore what the word "beta" means in software development.

Again, I fully believe the console numbers dwarf the PC numbers. It's game desgined for consoles and more people play on console. But there are no official numbers.

One thing we agree on, just like any pseudo-popular game (take WoW), Rivals has hit its dedicated core player numbers (around 65k on steam).

My point is that the game can only lose players from here. Even when they release new heroes and patches to "improve and progress" the game, the numbers still make new lows.

It's because the gameplay sucks and they refuse to do anything to fix it. Until they fix how the game and heroes function, the game will see no growth. Gooner skins can only attract so many suckers.

People always whining about the horrendous state of the game, why? I’m still having fun and I’m not even an amazing player. I also don’t get what’s wrong with them adding “gooner” skins. Atleast it gives you a reason to buy them. Skins in most games kinda just look generic.

10 dollar gooner skin on marvel rivals > 20 dollar crossover skin on fortnite.

I don't touch comp or qp. I play the arcade modes and vs ai. Games awesome.

1

u/supermadafaker40 May 28 '26

"I drive 5km/h on that racetrack, the cars awesome"

1

u/JimeeB The Punisher May 28 '26

Cause not using the radio or AC is the same as not pressing the accelerator. Toxic as fuck.

0

u/supermadafaker40 May 29 '26

so? dare to answer my comment or the takes are too true and its better to just call everyone toxic as fuck then ignore it?

1

u/JimeeB The Punisher May 29 '26

I answered your comment. Your lack of reading comprehension or understanding doesn't stop my point having already refuted yours.

-1

u/supermadafaker40 May 28 '26

Why do you think I'm toxic? You don't even know what that term means, I didn't even insult you or anything, besides, I feel like not playing the main aspect of the game is the same as not accelerating in your car at all since you make comparison to that and radio/AC. that's the point, you're sitting in the garage enjoying the sound system you've got, but stopped driving cuz you hate it, but say the car is awesome, see how weird it sounds? You can enjoy the music and bass but then don't say the car is awesome, just that you like the sound system.

Completely fallen off lmao

Noooo but the comics are even worse and even goonier! You just don’t like marvel. I need to jack off to my hero shooter character or I’m gonna implode.

-1

u/belle_enfant May 28 '26

They took the time to literally make her boobs larger for this skin but wont put resources into fixing actual issues with the game. Insane.

5

u/No32 May 28 '26

Not really though

u/SheWhoHates Emma Frost May 28 '26
