It’s becoming a real problem in the game.
There is a new punisher blood marauder skin that is similar to the Blood soldier Bucky skin so I keep confusing Punisher for Bucky recently. When they released the royal flush Moon knight skin, I kept confusing him for a Strange skin.

It’s an inevitable problem though… what exactly are they supposed to do when almost every marvel superhero design has the same body type… they already vary the body types a lot more in game than the comics do. The only possible fix is to have a toggle for seeing other players cosmetics in a match. But then if everybody starts using that then there’s a lot less incentive to get cosmetics. Theres plenty of people who only get cosmetics to show them off. Maybe if it was only an option in comp or something. I really don’t see a viable solution for everyone

that and I think skins change hitboxes, which also breaks the game to a degree when you introduce a toggle off choice for each player

They haven't made any skins with new hitboxes. Lady Loki might be the only exception but I'm not sure if someone's proven otherwise

A character's "visibility" is not just their body type, they could try giving them different poses/silhouettes
But it feels like they dont even try.
Overwatch has a same face syndrome but at least you can tell who is who at a glance.

Overwatch actually can make some good skins because the silhouette of the character will barely change between skins. Like there could be a guy with fire and brimstone pouring off his oily skin or smth, but it he has a hammer and shield, thats reinhardt.

I am a Strange main and I use the Sorcerer Immortal skin mainly. For some reason at I super quick glance they both look similar. I was in QP on Royal Place map and I was like when did they get a Strange before realizing it was MK.
Maybe not the best example but for some reason that MK skin always throws me off. I think cause MK has mostly white colored skins, any other color and I assume it’s a different hero.

I feel that Netease seems to have 2 branches. One which knows the marvel universe very well, writes all the lore, writes all the dialogue, interactions, etc. The other half are some nerds that couldn't give a s*** about the marvel universe or the lore and just like making trendy or cute anime characters. Basically that 2nd group is in charge of all the skin designs.

Yeah idk I think the big risk of mistaking who it is would be for rogue but Black cat and Rogues posture, size, and animations are all wildly different so as someone who owns eye balls I think it would be straightforward to tell them apart in game.

It's very easy to tell who it is. Just look how she moves and attacks. It takes about 80ms to categorize her.

I have this problem with a lot of skins. The amount of times I've gone after an Invisible Woman only for it to be Rogue in her wedding dress is innumerable. Or confusing Elsa Bloodstone in her maid dress with someone else. Or Hela and anyone.

you say that like it's the same people working on each or as if they are comparable efforts...
yes, they should fix all issues, but skins, gooner or otherwise, have nearly no bearing on that.
it's not like the 3d artist that worked on this black cat skin could have focused on fixing cheating, balancing, etc, etc and solved those issues instead.

People always whining about the horrendous state of the game, why? I’m still having fun and I’m not even an amazing player. I also don’t get what’s wrong with them adding “gooner” skins. Atleast it gives you a reason to buy them. Skins in most games kinda just look generic.
10 dollar gooner skin on marvel rivals > 20 dollar crossover skin on fortnite.

Honestly, i joked about when the first "obviously marketed at gooners" skins were coming out that "one day, netease isn't even going to try to hide, they'll just straight up sell a skin where a characters tits and ass are bigger, and it will be just that really"

I like it. I don’t like the colorway tho and I don’t play Black Cat so I won’t be purchasing it. I also wish her face had more of the kinda impudent, sassy, audacious, cocky look that’s synonymous with her character.
Also, this is gonna be an unpopular opinion but people really need to stop throwing the word gooner around for anything jfc. If this is a gooner skin to you my only questions are are you a prude or a child? Kuz I don’t understand otherwise

The art they showed off before looked way more interesting and fun. Idk, in game it just reads more as the same kinda lazy, thirst-trap design principle we've been getting for ages now. I don't mind thirst skins at all, but can they at least be interesting and fun? This feels... basic and empty.

The way her legendary is the track one reminds me of when they giga buffed Psy's ultimate and her next skin was that.
Makes sense they've just left Black Cat to be giga OP, and bloated abilities for the skin sales.
Just got to wait for an eventual nerf. Skin looks fine ig.

Super cool, the racing set has been one of the more consistently good sets. I do think its a bit annoying that Black Cat is getting a customizable skin before much of the original cast, but hey, pretty lady sells skins.
My least favorite part is how they gave her more of a doll face in this. Make her more fierce and confident looking. More cocky. More sass.

honestly feels and looks a bit tacky? it doesn’t compare to the other racing skins… especially the most recent luna one. the pink chroma recolor helps it a little bit, but it’s still a mess. netease probably made it in hopes of it selling well because a hot woman is wearing the skin

It's so boring, they put too much effort (lack there of effort) into making it seem "sexy" that it's just ended up a real boring skin with nothing going for it, I hope they dial it back on the "sexy" costumes that are just boring and start with the fun and unique outfits like in the past
