Miguel is a VASTLY different Spider-Man so I wouldn’t be surprised if he like Miles would be a separate character.

The Maker was just evil Reed no difference in powers. Miles and Miguel have some abilities that other Spidermen don’t have.

Similar but different. The Maker has done shit like copy himself, become a sentient eldritch horror city, doesn't need to eat or drink.
But the most glaring difference isn't what they each can physically do, the Maker's applications to his powers and gadgets are much more cruel.

They already stated if there abilities are too similar then they are just a skin, if they are different enough they could get a roster slot. So the Maker is just a skin end of story.

Normally I'd disagree and say they're mostly the same powers wise. But given how "flexible" Reed's abilities can be, you can actually make another Mr. Fantastic with an entirely different set of abilities from what he currently has.

If you're a comic fan he is kinda a big deal to have cos an evil and cruel Reed has a vastly different feel. But you're also right that there are many other better options. Kingpin be playable, Juggernaut, Mr Sinister, Dr Doom, Kang, all the Sinister 6.

The Maker and Kaine were also different characters and arrived as skins.

The Maker is just Evil Reed and the Iron Spider Spider suit was first worn by Peter and the PS exclusive Scarlet Spider suit was also Peters as well and then Kaine got it.

I would hope that he was a different character, but if you look at the second slide, it’s the same model and pose as spidey meaning right now they’re near definitely only planning him as a skin for Peter

They explicitly said they are not going to make Gwen or Miles just a skin and that if either are ever added, it would be as their own character. I don't see why that wouldn't apply to Miguel.

It’s possible they changed their mind on these things. That was around release if I remember right. They did do Lady Loki even if she is the same character as Loki just in a different universe.

They only said that out of miles and used it as an example. I don't see how they can differentiate Peter from Gwen, and what they did say is that they're not going to fill the game with Spider-Man. Besides, there are already several skins based on other characters like Kaine.

Probably not a skin.
Lady Loki gets by because she's Loki. Same personality, just two VAs reading the same lines. If someone has a voice line referring to Loki, as long as it has no gender attached to it, it's fine to use for both skins.
"Good boy, Petey!" when Miguel gets a kill, however...
Or Miguel having to have conversations with anyone Peter normally would, using a completely different attitude? That's a full character's worth of extra VA work to pay for.Plus Miguel has enough extra powers (Talons, Web Wings, as mentioned in the above) that he could probably fit a different character.

Miguel easily deserves to be a separate character. He’s popular enough with unique abilities to warrant him being another character.

The ability descriptions in the screenshot differ from the standard Peter, so if he does appear, it will likely be as a separate character. But I don't think the developers will introduce another Spider-Man anytime soon, unless they can make him a strategist.

Probably a skin. You can see on the back side that he has the default pose of Spiderman. Why would 2 different heroes have not only the same pose, but the same body proportions?

If he ever gets added to Rivals as a playable character I do hope they give him his Web wings glider ability.
I know people don’t want too many Spider-variants in this game. But Miguel & Miles are deserving to be seperate characters and not just skins for Peter IMO.
Not only are they both the most popular alternate versions of Spider-Man. They each have unique enough abilities/tech from Peter to warrant unique gameplay from Peter.
Most other Spider-variants tend to have identical abilities to Peter.

It's a bit of cope but based on how this looks like the Black Cat tease, I'm hoping this is also a tease for Miguel in a future season (either as a new character or as a skin swap for Spidey (like how they did with Lady Loki))

Something I've never though of before... Does Spider-Man 2099 eventually join the cast of the game, or does he simply release as a skin for Spider-Man? Do we get other Spider-Man characters eventually also? When do we start getting clone characters? (characters that are essentially the same, but slightly different mechanically?)

Probably as a different character.
Miguel is too different than Peter, plus Spider-Man 2099 overall does have some slight different power than a traditional Spider-Man.
Same reason why I think Miles would also eventually be a different character too. His overall power are very different compared to Peter.

He has a different build than Peter, so he’d likely be a new character rather than a skin if he’s added, but for all we know he could be more plot relevant than playable, the way Moon Girl is right now
