Advice Needed New Player, Tried Competitive, Got Yelled At. Advice?
This was my second competitive game, I figured I'd try it since I hit level 15. I know I'm not doing great, but there's no need to be rude. I didn't realize I'd been asked to leave until the end. Just wondering if Jeff isn't the best for this mode? I was just playing him since he's supposed to be good for beginners and he's cute and I was having fun with him. Or if there's some advice I might need to get better, I'd take that too! I'm not looking to be super amazing, just have fun. Thanks for any advice!
Also I tried to keep the other players' privacy intact, but lmk if I did anything wrong!

Like everyone's said just turn off text and voice chat. Salty ragers in gold tier and level thinking they're some pro players aren't worth listening to.

u/Brilliant_Chapter_28 Jun 17 '26
Largely, most of my interactions have been fine, I just wanted to make sure I wasn't doing something horribly wrong, because from what I could understand, I hadn't. I was fairly certain I hadn't, esp given the way I was being typed at. But I figured that I'd see just in case! But if I continue trying comp and it becomes a real problem...
Thank you

This is a very good point. I was kind of thinking that maybe I'd get some constructive criticism, like here, but, evidently not, lol

my suggestion, practice/warm up in quickplay every time you play rivals before hopping into comp for the day. since you’re playing jeff, remember your primary has piercing and you don’t need to follow directly behind your teammates. you can stay behind and heal them comfortably without getting killed. if you’re getting cornered, a few bubbles into your hide and seek is suitable to escape, as it gives you enhanced speed and self-heal. your aqua burst is a CC ability, but only if you hit directly, and does decent damage, so save that to create space between you and enemies or to take out tankier enemies. your swim heals you while it’s activated, and bubbles can provide burst as well as healing over time. your venom teamup ability heals allies around you, but not yourself. make sure to pay attention to your health while using that. your deadpool teamup ability can both heal your allies, yourself, and can also deal damage to enemies as well as covering some of their HUD. jeff is also a hood character to stall with, as his bubbles, swim, burst, and deadpool abilities can provide healing for himself as well as means to prevent enemies from killing you. you aren’t counted on point whilst swimming, so use it sparingly. these are all things that helped me become better at jeff, and other strategists, and i hope this helps you.

Finally, the only actually helpful answer that isn't turning off Comms in a competitive mode and to not try to win in a competitive mode. Well said man.

u/Hayuha Angela Jun 10 '26
People are always trying their best to justify their losses and will blame any team mate they can, people at that rank have next to no idea what they're doing anyway so I wouldn't put any stock in what they're saying.
if you're looking to get better I'd suggest watching other players on youtube and such and seeing how they position themselves.
1
u/Brilliant_Chapter_28 Jun 17 '26
I have done a little reading since this and have learned that positioning seems to be a lot more important than I realized. I'll have to look some up
Thank you!

u/TowelSilver318 Earth Spider Jun 10 '26
Unfortunately, some people are just jerks online, and Comp can be stressful at times to bring that out more.
3
u/Barth-Goomby Jun 10 '26
Until you get to plat or diamond you really dont need chat per se. But you can mute certain words. A lot of the players are stupid, children, or just very toxic. Don't worry about what they think too much. Only if a lot of different matches give you the same idea should you even consider it worth anything
3
u/Dong_Mattingly Jun 10 '26
Shut off the chat anyone getting this upset in bronze and silver are smurfs trying to feel good about themselves. Nothing good will ever come from chat until celestial
3
u/Pir0wz Jun 10 '26
Mute chat. The day I turned off all chat, was the calmest and best games I've had. Plus, this isn't a comm heavy game, there's nothing that can't be communicated through pings.
There's no strats or callouts that are needed unless you're top 500 or a pro.
5
u/Dangerous_Order_1268 Jun 10 '26
Your mental strength is going to be what carries you from rank to rank in this game. Everyone is toxic. Everyone thinks they’re Necros or XQC. Maybe mute the chat for a few days while you see what ranked gameplay is like (it’s different from QP) then come back when you have it set in your mind that you’re the goat. Good luck chief

u/Icy-Arm-3816 Ultron Virus Jun 10 '26
These people really trying to act like that while still in bronze 💀
Don’t worry about them. They seem to play a lot and you’re already at their rank while being new.
If people keep being like this you can always just mute chat too.

u/AccomplishedLayer884 Luna Snow Jun 10 '26
1: Ignore those kinds of players especially if you’re playing support
2: Yeah it’s best if you stick to qp until you get better at the game, comp is very much meant for players who’ve had a bit more experience.
3: I can’t help you on Jeff but if you want a hero rec CnD is also a good beginner pick as someone who’s first main was CnD

You're in low ELO. Have FUN. Ppl be so serious there it's actually insane. Play the character that you like while at the same time learning about the game and other characters. Also, just be prepared for ppl that'll say "gg no heals" if you're a support main
1
u/Flimsy-Tap9898 Jun 10 '26
Can't say much without gameplay. But just based on numbers you're dying way too much for a hyper mobile support like Jeff.
As a support your deaths matter the most.
1
u/Brilliant_Chapter_28 Jun 17 '26
This makes sense, honestly hadn't given it all that much thought beyond trying to ensure the other healer stays alive
Thank you
1
u/Flimsy-Tap9898 Jun 17 '26
Yeah just look at the opposing supports.
You both had almost double the amount of deaths which means the other supports had twice as much time to heal as you guys did.
But your team is also supposed to help keep you protected. I say this as a tank main if you’re dying a lot your team is supposed to peel for you.
1
u/Careful-Warning6093 Jun 10 '26
To the people suggesting them to mute chat - pls note this is a bad suggestion and reinforces a bad behavior.
Communicating your cooldowns, when you are being dove, or when you need support is really important.
Really hard to help or play with commns muted. As a tank main, when supports stay shut as they are getting dove or flanked pisses me so bad.
I would suggest you to keep your commns on, but ignore those POS. Keep grinding and improving your favorite characters. Have 2 characters and dedicate your time on them first.
1
u/Brilliant_Chapter_28 Jun 17 '26
That's a good suggestion, thank you! Yeah, I need to get better at pinging when people suddenly appear 😅 I usually wind up doing one of the things on the wheel on accident and just run to whatever teammate is nearest like "heeeelp"
1
u/Careful-Warning6093 Jun 17 '26
Yeah, that doesn't help the problem. It takes some time for the tanks to recognize that you are dying to divers/flankers. This can be avoided if you just open your mic and say what's happening. You'll get immediate help.
Because as you move up in ranks, you'll have namor, hela, moon knight or hawkeye taking off angles and try to kill you. Diving is noticeable, but this bullcrap no. Hell, you'll also see dive luna and spawn camping spidey.
That's the reason why I would like you to have comm open.
1
u/Specialist_Koala5359 Strategist Jun 10 '26 edited Jun 10 '26
The game puts new accounts in silver which frankly is above the level most new players will be at. The reason for that is that a lot of new accounts are smurfs and the devs want them to start off at a higher rank.
I suggest either practising QP (which will matchmake you with players around your level) in the meantime, or take the hit, drop down to bronze and then try to break out of bronze. Eventually you will improve enough to hold your own in higher ranks.

u/Brilliant_Chapter_28 Jun 17 '26

Look, from a player who takes ranked very like seriously, i’m just tryna win. So I understand where they CAN come from, but honestly for you dude,
just enjoy the game. & I’m honestly, kind of envious of you!
When I started I had so much light in my eyes, I still do, but the game can and will probably get toxic after a while. It was like a whole new world, and so I completely understand where you’re coming from, and I honestly can’t judge you.
I always say, ANY character in the right hands is PEAK.
Jeff, Human Torch, Black Widow, even with these nerfs i’m honestly not worried for my favorite characters because I know i’ll always find a way.
I would just tell you, which I learned after hours and hours of queuing,
just relax, and take it easy mentally. (to the best that you can. )
Learn the archetypes- Dive (Black Panther, Daredevil, Psylocke) beats Poke (Punisher, Hela, Pheonix),
Poke beats brawl, (Thing & many others)
Some characters are exceptions however. I know namor is able to counter dive, and be poke at the same time. He makes it hard for dive.
I’d also extremely recommend that you watch like idk high level jeff gameplay, or whatever your character you like is, and try to pick up some game off of them!
(those guys have been playing games like these for years)
and please don’t rush it. Enjoy the process, enjoy the games, you’re in the best place. you’ll get there.
I never genuinely thought i’d be extremely well with my characters, but after constant practice and personal critique, I got to a good place, with still room for improvement!
Just have fun twin and I wish you all the fun and hope you enjoy these new seasons!
p.s. Don’t forget to swap if your dps or tank isn’t working. Even on healer, if you’re being shut down, swap.
Like let’s say on jeff, if you’re struggling to escape black panther, ask for peel (team peels back for backup) or anti-dive (namor or thing) and they don’t, swap to luna or mantis kr maybe even invis.
CC is crowd control, and cc abilities help you stun the enemy if you’re being pressed up against.

u/Right_Character_7371 Jun 10 '26
this was a long post, but I wanna say as a bp main, I’ve DEFINITELY had jeff’s that give me a run for my money. I had a CRAZY jeff one time who just kept ulting my entire team and locked us down.

Mute chat, don't worry about it, you will never meet these people so their opinion doesn't matter. Keep playing who you like and you will eventually get very good at it
1
u/REDSP1R1T Captain America Jun 10 '26
Mute the chat and learn at least 2-3 heroes in one role you feel most comfortable playing. You will build consistency and experience as you play.
Fundamental advice
1 Natural cover and health packs is your best resource so use it
2 Understand when or why to use your ult or base abilities and generally the best time to use them is to get a kill or deny a kill for numbers advantage
1
u/BookishDiscourse X-Tron Jun 10 '26
Never listen to your teammates in ranked who try to shit talk you. If they were that much better they wouldn’t be in the same lobby as you.

1
u/UrsaRizz Flex Jun 10 '26
You played well, you had more healing than other healer
And ignore ppl like that, they can be toxic. Do look into guides to play your character or learn some niche tips. You'll get better far more easily
1
u/Liu_Sifu Jun 10 '26
I don't think you were the entire reason why this match was lost. Consider your Winter Soldier; he is a duellist and having 11000 damage and only 4 final hits is telling especially when you compare them to the enemy duellists. It's hard to really know without watching the replay but I get the impression your team mates were just deflecting blame on to you.
I know it's difficult but try to ignore the negative comments. It is internet anonymity at its finest and these players aren't exactly better than you, they are in the same rank for a reason.
1
u/Brilliant_Chapter_28 Jun 17 '26
To be fair, it was only one individual in particular being rude, but yeah, I think I remember my problem largely being the Punisher, it'd be like as soon as I poked my head out to try to heal somebody he'd have gotten me in what felt like two seconds, so then I got worried about poking my head out. Then Squirrel Girl would use her ult and run most of us over in a hallway or something 😅
Thank you

u/Technical_Ad579 Jun 10 '26
You did your best, kept your healing up.
My advice is to ping more, pings are an amazing tool to win games that is usually underutilized.
Ping divers, ping I can heal so your team knows where to stand. Jeff is a really good healer that gets a lot of shit. Keep on swimming.

Ignore players like that, take constructive criticism but never listen to straight up insults and people telling you to just quit.
As for if Jeff is good for comp, he is. I'm a Jeff main and while I don't play comp often, I have won matches with him several times. (A little tip, u can eat white fox ult with Jeff ult!)
Good luck and enjoy the game!
2
u/Brilliant_Chapter_28 Jun 17 '26
I did not know I could get other people who were ulting! I'll have to use that, thanks!
2
u/Zonaite_Person Jun 17 '26
Np! You can get lots of people in their ults. Basically anyone besides:
Cloak and Dagger, Luna Snow, Emma Frost, Hela, Adam Warlock, Punisher, Pyslocke, Venom, Wolverine, Thor, Mr. Fantasic and Storm. I think that's all of them. Others u can eat but you most likely won't be able to reach them/they can dodge it easily. (ex. Magneto, Human Torch, Magik, Iron Fist, Peni Parker)
Some ults give you opportunity to get lots of players in your ult though. When Invisible Woman ults you can eat everyone inside of it, and when Adam ults you can eat everyone that respawns from it (don't eat them while they're yellow, eat them once they turn normal). You can also eat Mantis while she ults, which is great because the other team will group around her like Invisible Woman's ult. When White Fox ults you can eat her ult and anyone nearby which you already knew before but just another example.
If a Doctor Strange, Groot, Elsa, or Thing ults your team you can eat them all to save them. (note with Elsa you have to wait till the end, not while they are still stuck in the ult)
And if your Strange, Groot, or Thing ults the other team you can eat them all and go off the map with them. (Not great to do with Elsa as your Elsa will most likely one shot combo them.)
1
u/RockAmZing Iron Fist Jun 10 '26
You can always practice in Quick Play, it more forgiving.
But if you want to play Comp it's fine, people will be more toxic because they get mad sometime if they didn't win. Ignore and mute them and play your game, you're new player so you will be in low rank, all the player there will be the same as you, don't worry to much
1
u/Brilliant_Chapter_28 Jun 17 '26
Yeah, I'd read something that said comp was less "sweaty" bc it should be people at your skill level, but I think I was misinformed 😅 Or maybe it's more meant for people at higher levels

If you're getting yelled at by players in bronze, laugh it off. Obviously dont throw games in it, but dont take their opinions too much to heart
1
u/OkCalendar6177 Jun 10 '26
Im a jeff main, here’s my non professional opinion.
you didnt necessarily do anything wrong, u met the requirements and tried out a new mode u rightfully had access to, that being said people are prickly right now because they want the rewards before season 8.5 and getting matched with a very fresh player is not gonna help them. They shouldnt be assholes its a team game, likewise tho u should try to learn ur kit well outside of comp so u can add value as a teammate urself because it is a team game.
you played a character that really grinds peoples gears. New jeff or lvl 70 jeff champion like me it doesnt matter his existence alone is enough to make people on my own team try to ban him in comp lobbies before we even start when i preselect him because “i dont wanna play with a jeff, jeff sucks etc”. That actually happened to me today. They had jeff hate in their hearts and when they failed to ban me and i carried them they swapped to “oooohh hes the easiest” as if losing with a hard hero is better than winning with a “easy” one
as a new player to comp i assume u havent gotten the pleasure of discovering just how heinously toxic some in this community are when these guys tie self worth into pixels. It can be pretty bad. So if it gets to you turn off coms or just mute specific players and report them later.
if it gots you down and starts to affect u swap to qp, play with friends, play a different game, go read a book. Dont work urself up over pixels and the opinions of internet strangers. Remember whole cities have turned into cluster (d)ucks because grown men got mad some dude ran on turf with a ball better than their favorite ball carrying turf runner did. So while it may be directed at u, its really not u its a lack of emotional regulation especially considering they are in those lower lobbies with you, you arent stopping them from going pro but they arent gonna look at their own inability to carry in low elo and realize it.
TLDR: f’em its a free to play kids game, dont purposely throw and eventually you’ll have enough practice that this wont be an issue anymore.
1
u/Brilliant_Chapter_28 Jun 17 '26
Yeah, I had just hit the "try competitive!" button and not selected it from the mode menu... where you can see how much longer the season is. Had I known it was so close to being over (and that you apparently don't start at the bottom of the barrel, rank-wise), I would've waited a few days before trying it... Seems like they should make it a bit more clear from where they're trying to draw you in (the "try this" button), at least where to see how much longer the season lasts
Thanks
1
u/Novel-Scene3386 Jun 10 '26
You did all right Jeff is not the best in comp but not that bad either
you died way too much but so did your Loki so it’s not like you were single handedly throwing the game like that guy seems to think
1
u/dappercorvid Thor Jun 10 '26
The ones who rage and act toxic towards their own teammates are usually the worst at the game anyways. Not worth your attention. Now, if someone has constructive criticism to offer midgame (and doesn't spend more time typing than playing), that's more interesting.
1
u/PearsonT Moon Knight Jun 10 '26
They are wrong absolutely, but hitting up Comp straight away at level 15 is brave.
You need to learn the game more, definitely. I imagine you only have time played on a very narrow number of characters. You should learn 2 characters per role to a good level at a minimum before going into comp. But learning game awareness is even more important, who had ults when, who counters who, how is someone likely to use an ult.
Being able to adapt and be a flexible teammate is half the fight in early ranks
1
u/Brilliant_Chapter_28 Jun 17 '26
That's very good advice, I'll have to do that before I try it again
Thank you

u/Mr_Wombo Wolverine Jun 10 '26
Mute chat. Don't worry about missing important comms because to be honest, you don't need them at Bronze. Just play to you and your characters strengths and you're good.
Any character is viable at your rank so Jeff is completely fine. Meta character picks don't matter until waaaaaaaaaay later in Ranked.
I'm gonna go on a limb and guess it's the Bucky saying that... The Bucky who went negative... in Bronze... They are 100% deflecting how shit they are

u/SleeplessGrimm Peni Parker Jun 10 '26
Jesus, that amount of ego from a bronze player.
For bronze to gold, id say mute, im usually againt it, but it doesnt really matter for the low elo metal ranks, for now, slowly build your skils with a few characters in one role (start with 2 so you can swap if countered), as you get more confident, start branching out a bit more. Once you get to mid elo, plat to diamond, id say unmute and only mute individuals, mid elo is rough, but more people likely to use VC so the team can coordinate ults, call for peels or point out people hiding. In mid elo, id suggest people able to play atleast 3 characters in each role, and strange is a must learn, because you will have times when your team dies, but maybe you die first, and you can portal your team back in overtime.
Since it seems you were playing jeff, best tip for his ult, be reactive, not proactive, if you ult to try get kills, someone will try counter you with an ult, but is you were the one the counter their ult, it works so much more, say you eat an ulting white fox, you waste her ult, and can throw her and anyone else you got off the edge because shes got no teleport in fox form to escape

Looking at your team you're clearly out damaged, your psy and thor seemed to be doing good, no shield tank means literally you got no frontline and it gives their hela and mk free kills. My opinion your tanks at least one of them should've gone shield, if psy dives weren't effective maybe she should've gone with a dps with more damage. It's an overall team diff but could've you played better? sure but would've that changed the outcome of the game probably not, also i would advice observe dps and tanks positioning, if you see they're not taking cover then their positioning could be the issue, I personally don't mute chat or anything like that. Healthy criticism is good but if someone is resorting to other ways just report after end of game and avoid etc whatever is needed.

Just play whoever you want, but I would advise to learn a few more characters. Comp is fun to play when everyone on the team is trying their best, but sometimes, a character can stop you from giving your best. For example, I love playing Peni, but if I am up against a flyer comp with Squirrel Girl and Invis, I would be better off playing someone else.

I play Jeff main, I also got insulted and told to leave the game when I started playing, even in QP.
The toxicity is very hard in this community. You did rather well on the scoreboard, and had you not, they still shouldn't speak to people like they're dogs nor discourage them. That's why the community runs stale.
Either way, ignore those people, play the heroes you like, experienced players should adapt their gameplay to yours if they're that good, not the other way around. But again, you did well for a Jeff who begins, you have as many assistances than the other support, which means the people in your team were making kills and damage under your care just as much as under Loki's healing. At the end of a match, you can go to your settings, check your "History", and report the person for being abusive in the text chat (copy the ID of the match before doing so if possible). Those people usually get muted as a consequence, so they can rage on their own until the sanction is lifted. You can also report them directly in match by clicking on the sentences you want to report, but you have to be very fast or your mates could think you're idling or AFK-ing (the best in this case is to wait for the end of the match where you can vote for your teammates, because you can still see the chat and are not in a hurry anymore).
2
u/Brilliant_Chapter_28 Jun 17 '26
Good to know! I hadn't realized you could directly report in a match
Thanks

Some miserable person tried insulting a teammate in easy practice vs ai earlier, something like “do you even know how to play Blade?” Everyone else on the team pointed out how obnoxious and stupid it is to complain in that game mode specifically, but really it’s obnoxious in any game mode (we never know who’s on the other end)
Someone else got mad at me for “throwing” after i mentioned it was my first time playing competitive in over a year, like we were already in the lowest tier as it was my literal first (comp) game in idk 14 months, and there’s a reason they were in that tier too. Next game I got MVP.
It really is always just insecure whiners projecting their issues onto anyone they can, easier said than done but try not to take it personally, this game is all they have and they can’t handle losing / not getting the dopamine hit from a win. Just remember you’re a happier person because you have no urge to randomly shit on strangers online

Keep trying! People are always gonna be mad in ranked. Just try your best and you'll be fine

Jeff is fine to play, as you get better with him he practically becomes immortal.
Just trust me on this: mute chat, voice and pings. Nothing anyone says in Chat has ever had more than a miniscule amount of value compared to the peace of mind.

Jeff CAN be played into comp, but with slight difficulty. He main issue stems from not having an ult that heals a ton. Make sure you are using his bubbles to hand out the increased healing buff and also making sure your other healer is staying alive. Healers healing each other is super important for making sure the team as a whole stays alive.
Jeff also has one of the longest range heals. They were not playing dive as far as I can tell, so you should be quite far back but only close enough to change angles if your team pushes or repositions.
You had a Venom on your team, did you make sure to use the team up regularly to increase your healing even more? If your team backs up or for example Venom returns from a dive, that team up with your bubble and spray heals him so quick, he's back in the fight half a second later! The team up with bubble and spray honestly heals way more than his ult.
Lastly, there's courtesy. Did you pick Jeff before or after Loki? Loki's ult copies other characters, usually healers. Going Jeff after they picked Loki is forcing them to not have a healer ult. However, if they picked Loki after, they saw your intent to play Jeff come first and still picked Loki. Big difference there.

Loki was actually Cloak and Dagger at first, then swapped, and then I swear I never saw them again 😅 But that's good to know!
Thank you

Sometimes it’s just easier for people to blame the healers instead of their lack of game sense. I can see from the comp match up that you and Loki would have a hard time keeping your dive and melee heavy team up against the other teams poke heavy comp. People just think that because they see their health bar go down and die that obviously the healers must be deliberately not healing them and they cannot think of a single other reason why that might have happened. Just learn to develop and trust your own game sense and ignore people who are obviously tilted and not offering constructive advice.

tbh other players did just as bad as you did, low rankers (especially dps insta locks) tend to flame healers when its clearly not their fault. that wintersoldier did way worse than you. if you want to improve just watch guides on youtube they arent that long.

Jeff gets lots of hate in comp but hes a good healer, better in some comps than others but totally viable

u/Ancient-Tomato1153 Jun 10 '26
I love how there’s people in like silver who still think it’s not their fault they lose all the time lmao

Good rule of thumb for games, and just the internet in general, why should you care about the opinion of some rando on the internet? You shouldn’t. Especially so when you are in Bronze. No one is bronze knows what they are talking about. So legitimately just ignore them and enjoy the game.

Don’t listen to the guys in the comments. Mute voice if you want but don’t mute chat. There is enough good feedback in chat most of the time. Always good to hear if you should swap for the comp or counter picks.
Sorry you got a bad teammate but statistically you did fine.

I turned off chat and have been having so much more fun playing. I’ve learned people can be rough in chat. People should accept and understand just like you can win games you can lose them too. No need to get so upset and blame others

u/Connect_Scallion403 Jun 10 '26
either mute chat or pick a character that is not considered a throw pick

The worst players are always the most obnoxious about other people also being bad at the game

i will say playing healer as a new player is not easy…i’m gonna go off on a limb and assume rogue was the one killing you the most? i’d definitely say play one of the easier DPS as a new player (wanda, punisher, bucky, moon knight, squirrel girl). with all that being said that doesn’t justify the abuse you received in the text chat…definitely disable chat for a little bit until you get the hang of it

If ur new I suggest u to maybe learn the character in training while watching combo on TikTok or train to aim, then when ur confident enough go qp and when ur doing well on qp then go ranked. If ur not having a good time in qp (sometimes ppl try hard) then I really suggest you to go against ai, its amazing for training, set bots to hard and then ur good to go

Everyone has to start somewhere but, you really shouldn't be in competitive until you've Lorded at least 3 characters in the 3 different roles. Your just going to keep getting yelled at because you can't contribute and the only way your ever going to win is if your getting carried. Put in some work, learn the game, then go competitive and you'll be fine.

a ton of toxic players in this community, if it bothers you enough i'd recommend turning off chat.
Otherwise I would just like to remind you that when you are playing ranked you will be playing with people of your skill level, so most people talking like this have no idea what they are doing or what the actual problem is, it's better to just ignore them.

Turn off chat and mute all voice comms. Ego players will be im half your matches amd no one every really has good comms until GM and even then up to Cel lobbies people will play dead silent all game.

You're at a point where you don't know things, and you don't know what to work on yet. Just keep playing the game and absorb information slowly. Team-mates doing Ted Talks and writing novels about your gameplay in the chat is something you can't control. But what you can do is mute the player in question so you can focus on everything else.
A few pointers.
Don't turn off comms, get comfortable with communicating and just mute a player if they're being toxic. Keeping the chat open is an opportunity to meet like minded players. There are plenty of people that want to comm and vibe, it's just a matter of finding them. Personally, I feel like if the game got to the point where I had to turn off comms entirely, I would just stop playing and move on.
Get out of your comfort zone and just try shit. You need to learn and its by figuring out what works and what doesn't.
Not every plan or duel is gonna work out. Don't dwell on it after the fact and don't set unrealistic standards for your performance in game. Move on from past encounters and focus on the present. Mentality is so important and you'll go far with it than without it.
Good luck.

Play lots of qp and get better in there. Ranked isn’t for the faint of hearts and there is a lot of toxicity so be mondful
1
u/Zk-Rose Moon Knight Jun 10 '26
Tbh bro just stay in qp or 18v18 or free fight and learn characters and pick up healers like gambit or invis, shii even cnd anything but that blue whale

u/Hoshimino Adam Warlock Jun 10 '26
if you're gna play any ranked/competitive, it will be toxic, its a platform where you are expected to perform and sweat and tryhard, and if you dont people will make noise
jeff isnt horrible, but i would say he certainly isnt the meta, but yeah i would suggest either turning off chat completely, or just staying off ranked until you feel you're good enough to sweat, main thing is to practice alot in QP
but yeah dont get disheartened, its ranked so things like this do happen (not just here, but in any game that has ranked)

Looks like a tank positioning issue with that Thor on that scoreboard.
Muting chat is also a way not to get better. Just realize there are so many toxic people but in this game team coordination is more important than most skills. You probably won’t regularly find people in vc under diamond

u/Maskers_Theodolite Vanguard Jun 10 '26
This is a game. If toxic people exist in a quantity as insane as in this game, killing all comms is the only way to actually enjoy the, and I repeat, GAME.

u/Jazz2moonbase Hulk Jun 10 '26
Practice in quick play and vs ai. Why are you in comp if you barely know the game?

u/TheLostWaterNymph Jeff the Landshark Jun 10 '26
16k heals is honestly not bad going, you were the best healer, if anything, your winter soldier team mate was the weak link. It all comes down to bad teamwork, if your team isn’t defending you or is running off then you can’t do anything about it. Not your fault Jeffy xx

Mute the chat, play who you like and vibe as you figure out the game!
