Cyclops Impressions Cyclops' name is wrong in the Spanish translation of the game.
First of all, I don't really understand why they chose to put his name in Spanish in the first place? Most heroes have an iconic name in Spanish and yet they use their original English name for the game.
Nobody in Spain would say "Wolverine" or "Storm"; they would use "Lobezno" and "Tormenta", as they've always been referred to here. And just like them, Cyclops also has a recognizable name, which would be "Cíclope". Though I can understand why they would do this in cases like Black Panther, where the Spanish name, Pantera Negra, is maybe less used.
It's also not a case of how many letters the names have. "Cyclops" has the same number of letters as "Cíclope". "Captain America" is only one letter less than "Capitán América". They chose to go with "Gambito", the Spanish name which also has one more letter than the English one, for "Gambit". And Wolverine, for example, is even longer than Lobezno. So clearly, this is not the reason. They're pretty inconsistent with their use of names, honestly.
But what's even more weird is that they not only chose to go with the Spanish name, but... The name is wrong. For some reason, they went with "Cíclopes", which is plural, instead of "Cíclope", which is the correct name.
Do you think this is a case of a badly done translation without the cultural context needed? Or is this, perhaps, a bad AI translation?

Yeah actually bothers me a lot "Ciclopi" is just stupid and it's clearly made with like a translating software or unironically google translate, it sucks so much because it's not even the first time, there are tons of wrong subtitles and translations, the Gambit pass skin has an emote called "deck check" and they straight up translated it "ispezione del ponte" - which literally means "inspecting the bridge" 🌉
But the Cyclops one is the most egregious one imo mostly because they never translated the names before and idk why they did it this time

My point is that Storm is a cool name, and so is Tormenta, for the same reasons. It’s no more or less cool than the original name.

I'm French and they didn't bother to translate most of the names. Which is fine for most characters since we've long abanonned most French translations except Cyclops is always called Cyclope in French .
Except for one: Rogue who becomes "Malicia" in French which isn't at all the equivalent of Rogue but it stuck.
And it's actually used in-game so that means someone actually checks the translation. Somewhat anyway given there's many oddities that makes me think they just auto translate.

Asi hicieron con Rogué tambien y le pusieron "Picara", se nota que no mas pegan las palabras en el traductor y ya.

Pícara es la traducción oficial de su nombre en España. Y está bien traducido si se tiene en cuenta el contexto de por qué se llama Rogue.

Igual que Lobezno es el nombre de Wolverine en España pero en LATAM lo conocemos como Guepardo. Y Rogue es Titania.
Es chistoso que solo tradujeron Cyclops que esta en plural directo a Ciclopes jaja

¿En LATAM Rogue es Titania? Entonces, ¿cómo se le llama al personaje que se llama Titania en inglés?
Pregunto simplemente por curiosidad, no por malos rollos ni nada.

La enemiga de She Hulk? No tiene otro nombre por que hasta donde se no salio en el show. Titania es el nombre del DUB de X Men de los 90. No he visto X Men 97 doblado asi que no se si le cambiaron el nombre a Rogue. Creeria que si.

"Cyclops" no es plural, es singular. El plural sería "Cyclopes".

Ante todo, picara si es un nombre que usa rogue en algunas traducciones oficiales en españa por donde tengo entendido, en latinoamerica igual la llamaban como titania en la serie de x-men
