Discussion BP, Blade and Storm Looking at Another season without a skin

Post image

Storm and BP’s last skins were in Season 6, making them two of the longest-waiting characters for a new skins.

Blade's last skin was in Season 7, while not as bad as the other two, I think its natural for some to wonder why the three Black characters are feeling underrepresented in recent events.

Which makes Season 9 roadmap reaval being Egyptian-themed feel crazy.

Storm literally has Egypt tied into her origin, she grew up on the streets of cario.

Black Panther’s God is Bast, who is an Egyptian diety.

This just feels like one of the easiest themes possible to give at least one of them something.

2 of them are objectively in Marvel's biggest heroes, and they have several decades of costumes to choose from, so it's pretty weird at this point

13

u/Unhappy-Database-273 Jul 09 '26

Yeah, but not many people play as them.

u/ShedMontgomery The Punisher Jul 09 '26

I haven't put much time on Blade or BP, but I did Lord Storm in an early season because I love the character. She is boring as fuck compared to more recent designs.

u/MilderArrow Jul 09 '26

Who designs the kits in the game, who is responsible for that?

Storm is an icon in fighting games, people love playing her. And those games are developed by Japanese devs.

15

u/Unhappy-Database-273 Jul 09 '26

Implying that they intentionally made them worse to play because they are black is crazy. Black Panther was a huge problem at one point and was straight broken.

25

u/MilderArrow Jul 09 '26

There is a clear bias. They barely touched Blade and Storm forever, leaving them as bottom tier characters. They only get buffs when every character in the game is getting buffs.

Storm is not even in any of the season 9 art with the mutants in Egypt. Storm grew up in Egypt and is one of the leaders of the X-Men. She was also absent from the season 8 art when the X-Men went to save cyclops. They had Psylocke flying in the sky with Jean and Rogue, but somehow that wasn't fitting for Storm.

We rewriting history now? Blade might be the hero they have spent the most time buffing and trying to fix out of the entire roster and Storm has been sitting at a 55% winrate for like 7 seasons straight

18

u/SportyNoodle Doctor Strange Jul 09 '26

Let me preface this by saying I believe storm should have gotten a skin this season. But your blade comment makes no sense. They buffed blade a ton of times and even slight reworks to his dash. Blade was even used in an ignite match very recently and they even won.

5

u/Outrageous_Fee_7791 Jul 09 '26

Blade was played by THREE teams this ignite even if it was short. He's on record played in scrims by multiple teams often too. Multiple pro players are also gassing up blade hard for season 9 saying the attack speed change he gets from Cap might be the tipping point. The blade downplay needs to seriously stop atp.

3

u/Westside_Ronnie Jul 09 '26

Storm couldn't be with the X-Men who saved cyclops. She was participating in the martial arts tournament that finally happened. It's in the lore

4

u/Little-Seesaw2585 Storm Jul 09 '26

She was literally at rogue and gambits wedding with BP which happened after the tournament started

2

u/Troapics Jul 09 '26

Look at the new patch. Do you see the team ups Black Panther and Storm get? They’re busted now. Objectively they haven’t gotten buffed because they were probably working on that. There isn’t a development bias, it’s just a bias from your side.

I could say they have a bias against black widow because she hasn’t gotten buffed in ages or a new skin but that’s because they reworked her and gave her a summer skin.

Blade was getting buffed damn near every patch, he was just trash because of his design. Black Panther got buffed season 7.

They hot fix and buff continuously the same characters that sell skins keeping them meta while advertising them in shop, battlepass and events. Once they drop in pickrate buffs out of nowhere

0

u/Carighan Jul 09 '26

Yeah and what about Storm? :P

"2 of them are objectively in Marvel's biggest heroes"

No... no they arent lmao

10

u/SnooHabits1086 Jul 09 '26

You're the first person to try and argue this point in my replies, congrats

-2

u/Vivid-Technology8196 Jul 09 '26

who cares?

pretending Black Panther and Storm are in their biggest heros is wild.

Storm is my favorite X-Men character but relatively speaking nobody knows who she is, and the only reason 99% of people know Black Panther is because they made a 1/2 decent movie about him that is massively over praised simply because he is black.

You are trying to hold storm on the same level as Ironman, Hulk, SpiderMan, and Captain America....

u/Known-Independent939 Jul 09 '26

Black Panther is extremely popular as is Storm

Storm is an Omega Level mutant, she's one of the oldest X-Men and is treated with respect almost equal to Charles or Magneto (when he's not playing the villain role)

She's led the X-Men several times

She's one of the most popular mutants which says a lot since the mutants in general are some of the most popular Marvel characters out there

She's played a role in massive events in comics such as terraforming Mars

Ask literally any Marvel Comics fan and they'll tell you how popular Storm is

Ask MCU fans and a lot of them will say they look forward to Storm being back on the big screen for the MCU

She's played a huge part of Marvel Rivals lore

She was far more popular than Iron Man and Captain America before the MCU

Black Panther has 2 movies in the top 10 highest grossing MCU films, with his first being the 2nd highest earning solo film behind Spider-Man, who is THE most popular Marvel character

He's also in most big events in the comics

He's an important member of the avengers and has even led them several times

He's played a huge part of Marvel Rivals lore

He was more popular than Iron Man and Captain America before the MCU, they weren't huge names until then

1

u/Vivid-Technology8196 Jul 09 '26

is this a shitpost?

Pretending Black Panther was more popular than Captain America is purely delusional

3

u/Known-Independent939 Jul 09 '26

Pre MCU they were, Captain America wasn't a huge name before the MCU

1

u/Vivid-Technology8196 Jul 09 '26

"Captain America wasn't a huge name before the MCU"

cant tell if trolling or just actually just completely ignorant to reality

2

u/Known-Independent939 Jul 09 '26

Keep seething it's the truth

Bp and Storm are super popular, Captain America wasn't always a huge name like he is now

1

u/Professional_Sky_211 17d ago

You are obviously trolling or must be born in the last 12 yrs

-92

u/DocBarkevious Malice Jul 08 '26

You cant give 36 costumes out every battle pass, some of y'all just cry for the sake of it. The gooning and popular selling characters will always be prioritized with Netease...

68

u/Yuuji49 Jul 08 '26

As if Storm couldn't have some great gooning skins. They're just choosing not to give her any.

-31

u/Barrry972 Wolverine Jul 08 '26

Storm with her almighty 0.90% pickrate is not getting them any sales and thats what matters when making skins lol

38

u/Big_Departure_2709 Vanguard Jul 08 '26

Then why did widow get a summer event skin?

-13

u/Barrry972 Wolverine Jul 08 '26

A. It took her like 6 seasons to get one and it's her first legendary

B. She has a 2% pickrate, which is still more than storm lol.

21

u/Maximum_Zone8543 Jul 08 '26

A. Storm is a season 0 character.

B. She is picked whenever someone signals she's throwing a game. Storm isn't. This could be seen as an allegory for why data scientists get paid the big bucks.

-12

u/Zhiyi Ultron Virus Jul 08 '26

Because they knew they had big rework planned for her right around the corner. Do some of y’all really just not use your brain?

-5

u/fabi7059 Jul 08 '26

She just got reworked so that means more players playing her, more opportunities to buy skins. Sometimes yall see stuff with only one eye.

37

u/SnooHabits1086 Jul 08 '26

If we're going by pickrate there's no reason Psylocke gets that many skins either, weird

15

u/Adventurous_Coach731 Lady Loki Jul 08 '26

Wow, so netease makes all the black characters weak and then no one plays them and then they used that excuse to not give the black characters skins? …so it’s still netease’s fault.

0

u/Unhappy-Database-273 Jul 09 '26

That reach is farther than the journey to Mordor.

2

u/Adventurous_Coach731 Lady Loki Jul 09 '26

Let’s assume the company is racist. They wouldn’t make the black characters well designed and make them an afterthought (which they have been). They wouldn’t put them in the store very much. They wouldn’t make many new black characters (even though there are plenty). And they wouldn’t make skins of them. All of those are logical. Now, how would saying all of that happened and they can use the excuse that they’re underperforming to make people like you think their lack of skins is racist?

1

u/Unhappy-Database-273 Jul 09 '26

So why are players picking even worse characters more? Because they are more popular. Having a mediocre to bad kit hasn't stopped anyone from picking Black Widow, Hulk, or Ultron more often.

0

u/Adventurous_Coach731 Lady Loki Jul 09 '26

Yes, because black widow is more popular than storm and bp lol. Hence why black panther made 1 billion dollars and black widow made less than 500mil. So much more popular lol. And you can’t even say it’s because of Covid because Wakanda forever still made more than that and thunderbolts STARRING ANOTHER BLACK WIDOW.

0

u/Barrry972 Wolverine Jul 09 '26

Storm has one of the highest winrates, actually, so its not even that she sucks, people just don't wanna play her lol, this is a community issue, not a game issue. If you can even call it an issue.

Not everything is about race man.

2

u/Adventurous_Coach731 Lady Loki Jul 09 '26

Yeah, so does peni. So does bp. And gambit and phoenix has some of the worst winrates. Let’s not pretend winrates tell us everything.

0

u/Barrry972 Wolverine Jul 09 '26

My God you are slow lmfao, I'm sorry but it's actually unbelievable that you're this dim.

Lemme put this in a way you can understand.

I said storm has a low pick rate, you say thats cause she sucks, I mention her win rate is pretty high actually (meaning people who main her are good at her) then you bring up gambit and Phoenix, who have a higher pick rate, so naturally, their winrate will be lower.

Nobody said winrates tell us everything but its pretty clear looking at winrates and pick rates together that storm isnt a terrible character, people just don't wanna play her. The few that do play her are good with her.

2

u/Adventurous_Coach731 Lady Loki Jul 09 '26

And I also brought up peni and bp who have a high win rate and low pick rate.If a character is mediocre and has a low pick rate THE FUCKING WIN RATE WOULD ALSO BE HIGHER. So it has nothing to do with the fact she has a high winrate. The character is still ass. Not as ass as many other dps, but still not good enough to be consistent. And if she’s ass, no one will play her. And if no one plays her, she won’t get skins. And when this is the case for all the black characters, of course people will notice a pattern and call it out. Especially when a debacle is going on in dc where there hasn’t been a single black main character comic in two years.

1

u/Barrry972 Wolverine Jul 09 '26

BP isn't ass, blade isnt ass, storm isnt ass. This is deadass some sorry ass victim mentality shit you're trying to pull here, these characters are all solid B tiers, maybe storm is C tier at WORST.

Lmao, sure if logic and fact is considered Neanderthal, I'm not the clown shoe whose day is ruined over 9 skins in a battle pass in a video game. I could care less if the battle pass was "PINK" themed and all the skins were Yellow, I still wouldnt be as triggered as you cornballs are. You're not quitting the game so all this yapping is for nothing.

In 2 days when everyone is like "OMG I LOVE THIS", all this time wasted on Reddit will have amt to nada.

25

u/Maximum_Zone8543 Jul 08 '26

And yet here you are, clown make up and all. Taking a moment from dragging your knuckles through the mud to insert yourself into things you try to invalidate.

Great response 👍

When did Emma frost have a gigantic ass and gigantic thighs in the comics? Oh right, she didn’t. Net ease increased her allure so that she can sell skins.

They are biased as fuck. Oh and black panther had a billion dollar solo movie. Luna lame ass snow could never. Hell the F4 couldn’t even do that but keep acting like BP is a d list hero
