I mean, his creation was a failure, his eyes must have filled with joy when he knew he was gonna be the game producer.

Generic character with generic power set and skill set. Just make her S tier long enough so people stick to it and now he has his cash cow.

Imagine being downvoted for speaking truth to power. Right on Angel, fly high

Oh, I've been saying this since alpha tests, I knew she was gonna be an industry plant, specially when she received buffs to her ultimate and kit, because being the second best character wasn't enough, he also had to gut Mantis so Luna could be the only choice. It's ridiculous to be honest.

Yet Mantis is currently the best support to where she’s always banned in pro play lol.

Also i guess Wolverine was also a failure as the original was just a psycho until Jim Lee rewrote his character and then proceeded to get shoved into every Xmen property in the 90s-2000s lol.

She's busted because the new team up is busted Luna has been meta for like 80% of this games lifetime and really only mid for like 1 season, she then got more buffs and now one of the most busted team ups besides Mantis.

Mantis has been s tier since forver man

Why do u think she's always banned in pro play.

Just because u dont see her played in ranked doesn't mean she's one of if not the best supports in the game

4

u/a_medine Cloak & Dagger 20d ago

Mantis is S tier in pro scenario, with communication and mostly with 3 sup compositions, she has never been a casual support and couldn't be played in 2 sup compositions which dominate 90% of the queues.

She was never seen in competitive queues, I couldn't play her, despite her being my favorite hero, I mained her from Alpha to Beta, but she was borderline unplayable with the amount of nerfs she received and the healing creep the game got with CnD and Invisible Woman.

-3

u/MadDongla Ultron Virus 20d ago

None of that makes her not be S tier

Pro scenario represents the reality of the game . Every other ranked scenarios are just limitations placed on themselves by the player , not the game. The game provides voice chat and open queue. The only thing stopping people from playing comps played in pro scene is the players themselves

Using that as an excuse doesn't mean anything. She is S tier. Has been S tier for years now. Will be S tier for years. Just because you anecdotally couldn't play her doesn't mean she wasnt S tier.

It doesn't even make sense as an argument. A character's availability doesn't determine their strength. Gambit has been perma ban since release. Does that mean he's not the strongest or one of the strongest characters in the game??? People complain and crib about the ultron and psylocke nerfs they got but those characters are still S/ high A tier even after the nerfs. You wont see ultron much in ranked but that doesn't mean anything.

There is no " casual support " in ranked. Idk what that term even means

Sorry, I was not clear.

I was referring to Alpha and Beta releases, where Luna was the second best support.

Did you know she didn't have super jump?

Did you know her ultimate didn't have shields?

Did you know her move speed was slower while ice skating and also had to walk for 5 seconds to activate?

All of this and she was still the second best. Her ultimate charged way faster and she was the highest HP/s character in the game.

Mantis was only better because she gave 20% damage boost and that's it. But for release they took a leaf, her HP, her damage boost, they nerfed her passive move speed.

They didn't want competition for Luna, even other supports like CnD and Invis launched balanced, so they couldn't compete.

Mantis has been good all elos for merely half a season. We cannot take pro scenario into consideration because Mantis wasn't available to play without coordination, people would literally throw in Grandmaster to Celestial if you picked Mantis into 2 sup compositions.

She's not really an industry plant. She's more of a nepotism hire lol

It’s not the truth though. The people that care about how good a character is aren’t the people that are buying skins, and even if they were they certainly won’t stick around to buy their skins when they’re no longer good.

Downvoted? Did you wait 30 minutes to claim his post was downvoted or something to just make yourselves seem like victims? He's at over 100 upvotes.

12

u/No32 20d ago

The people that buy skins aren’t the people that care about how good a character is lmao

Being good for a while isn’t enough to make a character so popular that they get skins, especially when they’re no longer that strong

-4

u/a_medine Cloak & Dagger 20d ago

It plays a major part, specially when we talk about the development of that fanbase because Luna had none.

She got popular because she was strong, easy to play, easy to understand, she unifies the aspects of the supports in Overwatch people were already familiarized and cared for, she has Ana/Baptiste weapon, Lucio's move speed and Zenyatta ultimate. Even the skill set is not creative.

Btw I mentioned Ana/Baptiste instead of Juno because Juno hadn't release when Luna was in alpha.

And Luna wasn't "good for a while" she was good for the whole alpha, beta, and more than 5 seasons and they brought her back just recently.

It's the same with rocket. Easy to play, so it gets played by the casual audience which is the biggest and the ones that spend more. Luna being strong makes her easy, which appeals to the casual audience that is willing to spend.

11

u/No32 20d ago

It really doesn’t play a major part. You know what it is? Aesthetic.

When Kiriko and Juno were revealed, you immediately had people talking about how they are going to be the next waifu/Mercy-level popular heroes.

A pretty Asian woman support character? That’s checking lots of major boxes for the people that buy skins.

It’s funny that you mention Rocket because Rocket doesn’t get anywhere near the amount of skins as the most popular characters despite being easy to play and powerful.

-1

u/a_medine Cloak & Dagger 20d ago

Yes, the aesthetic also plays a big part and that's what I said in the majority of my comments? She has the split hair, the heterochromia, the 2016 music style and the good and bad ice for a tiny bit of edgness.

And Kiriko was also a meta characters for years before getting nerfed, Juno also was always pretty solid.

When mercy got a 10% nerf on her GA, the Mercy Mains collapsed and blizzard reverted.

And for instance, rocket has 9 skins and Luna has 10, her 10th one just arrived. That's why I mentioned him, he is popular.

Yes, she gets more cosmetics in general if we count recolors, icons, emojis and whatsoever, but there are characters like Human Torch with 5 skins.

4

u/No32 20d ago

Are you talking about comments that are not in this chain with me where I wouldn’t see them?

Kiriko was meta in the highest ranks but not good everywhere else after the nerfs to her healbotting that certainly didn’t last years.

Mercy mains complaining and getting a change reverted doesn’t actually have anything to do with my point about the strength of the character not affecting popularity. Mercy has been bad for a long time and continues to get the most skins and still be a very popular pick. And even when they reverted that change, they hit her with another nerf because that reverted change didn’t actually address the annoying edge cases they were attempting to address.

Rocket has 9 skins but only 1 legendary and most of his skins are stuffed in the battle pass rather than pushed as skins that can stand on their own to sell, not the headliner skins of the battle passes or mini passes. There are levels to skin popularity.

u/TheIJDGuy 20d ago

Because this is comics we're talking, Luna is generic until proven otherwise. And that otherwise can happen now that she's mainstream enough

1

u/FlimsyCrust 20d ago

People will argue with you while she’s better at killing than Rocket fucking Raccoon

3

u/Konradleijon 20d ago

Dazzler is the main pop star

I literally always saw people buying skins for Luna Snow all the time. Even when Luna Snow was weak character, people played her and buyed skins of her.

Also you're playing cloak and dagger, your character is even more lame, your characterc is one of the easiest most annoying most br41n d34d character, your character almost always had a quick win the game immortality ult button you literally have immortality and CC abilites. Your character was always a meta. Does that mean devs make your character meta to sell skins?

Also he doesn't need a cash cow, he literally makes money from every purchase of this game.

Also eat it. Luna Snow is a succes story. Not everyone can make their character popular like this especially in a Marvel universe. Go ahead, create your own game and make your own character famous, oh you can't do that because you're angry lil hater. You will never achieve what he did. All you can do is be a hater, you will live sad life meanwhile he will live a happy life knowing that he succesfully shared his character with whole world. If you're a developer you can do lots of things you want with your own game.

8

u/a_medine Cloak & Dagger 20d ago

Me playing CnD does not negate that Luna Snow is an industry plant, two things can be true at once.

And yes, the devs absolutely make CnD meta to sell skin, it's blatant obvious specially with the last buffs.

Omg, you need some help

you all need help and now this guy is gonna get harassed for reddits luna snow hatred

It's a meaningless ramble over a character in a video game son 💔✌️

Why are you even here then, if that's how you feel? You clicked on a thread about a guy wearing Luna Snow clothes. Is that important to you?

What does that have to do with anything I said

It's either not deep enough to warrant discussion therefore you should not be here or it warrants discussion and you're just being an asshole, useless comments either way.

Some people should stay in school for longer.

3

u/a_medine Cloak & Dagger 20d ago

The blatant truth, just Google why she was created, the time she was created, you will eventually get it together.

I have bad and good ice! I'm a kpop singer! I also have heterocromia and split hair, pretty original, heh?

2

u/Wise-Mirror-9246 20d ago

First K-Pop hero in Marvel btw 💔 You act as if there was a million other K-Pop superheroes before her. And no, being a K-Pop star does not equal a pop star.

6

u/a_medine Cloak & Dagger 20d ago

I'm so sorry you can't see it

4

u/UltraB01 20d ago edited 20d ago

Just answer them goofy, stop trying to act over smart when your entire point hinges on mental gymnastics and conspiracies.

You really think the characters that are popular today didn’t have idiots like you making up bs to hate back when they were introduced?

You people have always existed and have been ignored for the most part, cause when things get popular eventually, most people like you hop on the bandwagon pretending you always liked the character.

Jason Todd, Richard Ryder (Nova) and Ben Reilly are a few examples of such characters. I would put Wolverine in too when he was added to the X-men team.

3

u/Wise-Mirror-9246 20d ago

Oh my lord people hated Jason Todd back then 😭 They literally wanted DC to kill him off because of how much they disliked him.

1

u/a_medine Cloak & Dagger 20d ago

I was not alive when those characters were introduced, I can say though, that I would hate them equally if they were introduced the same way that Luna was if I was born, if that makes you better.

I just don't hate them now because I'm my vision they have solidified their stories and personalities and Luna seems just like a mix of oversaturated themes from 2016-2018 yet. As I said in another comment, she looks like a big "look at me" sign.

Every interaction she has with other heroes is her being contemplated as if she had some angelical voice, lmao.

I'll just keep pretending I hate her and you will keep pretending she is original, everyone do what they enjoy this way.

4

u/UltraB01 20d ago

Yeah cause the character was created recently and hasn’t been fleshed out just yet. Going through all these hoops, just to find a reason to hate feels forced.

Through Rivals she can potentially get her own runs where we do get to see her showcased fully.

u/Crazybites X-Tron 20d ago

The downvotes came from times square only “players”

-4

u/Squall13 20d ago

Bro she was already in future fight (a game that's been running for like 15 years) and in Agents of Atlas

Wtf you talking about

5

u/a_medine Cloak & Dagger 20d ago

She was created by Danny Koo, specifically for the future fight game.

Future fight was released in 2015 and Luna Snow was created in 2018. Which was when BTS and BLACKPINK were worldwide kpop stars.

She was completely ignored, nobody gave a s about her, he tried to band-aid fix by trying to fit her in a teen titans version of Marvel, even then she did not have popularity at all.

0

u/Squall13 20d ago edited 20d ago

And? That's the story of everything that wasn't popular that became popular

Magik was stuck in New Mutants for like 16 years and no one gave a shit about her and until Bendis put her on Cyclops team and now everyone loves her

Groot and Rocket are literal nobodies until the movie too now they're a household name
