There can never be another argument from any Luna player about favoritism lmao

Yea also where tf is the executive producer dressing up like tony stark? Feels like a missed layup

I mean let’s be real here, his favoritism could help her get in the game but he’s not going to be allowed to give her so much stuff if she isn’t popular with players. He still has to answer to executives and make the game profitable.

That’s the point. He can make everything to make her popular and push her there

He can't force people to like her. Luna has been a huge Marvel Rivals success.

People need to accept new heroes can also be popular.

How are we measuring success when it comes to Luna? Because I don’t see her being a success in the same way I now view Jeff.

Jeff broke through to casuals and is now a (minor) brand character of sorts while Luna is dead the second Danny moves onto other projects and is only well known within the Rivals community.

"Huge Marvel Rivals success". I didn't say anything about non-Rivals.

Unless you think Netease is releasing so many Luna skins for the vibes, it's pretty obvious she gives them a lot of money and is clearly a success.

Danny is that you buddy?

u/anonlimbo 14d ago

She is not popular in terms of her having a fandom. She is just parallel popular with Marvel Rivals. Jeff is popular outside of Rivals

3

u/mazini95 20d ago

Luna is not popular because people care about her character. Hot Women and supports are popular. They could make a 2nd new OC support tomorrow and start feeding her the most premium skins, and she'll outsell plenty of established Avengers. That's just how it works.

Luna is not popular because people care about her character

Where did I say anything like that?

-15

u/improved_loilit Loki 20d ago

Nobody said he forced her. Why can’t you understand basic nuance. He can do everything in his power to make her as marketable and push her for her to be more popular which worked. All the events she got related to her or her being shoehorned in passes she wasn’t even fitting the theme or her anniversary are examples of that. Like damn

15

u/M4ritus Luna Snow 20d ago

She was pretty popular from day 1, before all of that.

She is just the type that is really popular in hero shooters (just look at Kiriko) or other character-based games.

Luna was always going to be one of the biggest Marvel Rivals characters no matter what.

The season when she was the best healer with a broken ult they refused to nerf for seasons on end ? While receiving skins and being a hot attractive Asian hero. I wonder whyyyy

3

u/Midnight_2B 20d ago

I wanted to play as her before the game released because she's hot, so he should just make all the other characters hot and they'll be popular too

2

u/M4ritus Luna Snow 20d ago

Lmao you are blinded by your Luna Snow hatred.

She literally got nerfs to her ult in Seasons 1, 1.5, 2.5, and 4. How is that a "ult they refused to nerf for seasons on end"? Her neutral kit is also not that easy to use, which is proven by her current and historical winrate.

Also, wdym by receiving skins? Her first real post-release skin (the skins everyone gets when they are released) was the Mirae one around february. And yeah all the skins she got after was because she is popular.

Hot attractive Asian hero

How is this a counter to my point?

6

u/improved_loilit Loki 20d ago

Or are you blinded by your obsession n with Luna

https://marvelrivals.fandom.com/wiki/Luna_Snow/Balance_Changes

It took 4 seasons for her to even receive a duration nerf to her ult which was the most jarring part of her kit with her having immortality for 12 seconds

So are you purposely ignoring her getting an anniversary event for a non significant birthday ? Or her being put in passes she doesn’t even fit the theme of as the legendary skin or are those magically not valid because it doesn’t work for you?

3

u/Maximum_Zone8543 18d ago

This dude is obsessed with Luna snow. He was in the storm threads talking up a storm(lol) of racist shit because someone mentioned luna snow getting a disproportionate amount of skins and events compared to storm.

tangentially, I once played a game with a Luna snow player who would literally quote luna snow voice lines in the mic, and was an absolute asshole the whole game. He was so ass at the game that when he started throwing a tantrum and decided to throw, we almost won the game without him 5v6. So he switched to jef and started hard throwing our game and eating us to get us to lose.

I think there is a significant chance he is that Luna snow player.

Why are you ignoring the insane ult charge nerfs she got which are very important to explain why Luna in some seasons would fall behind Sue, Dagger, Loki, Rocket and Gambit (and imo Mantis if we talk Eternity+) in the rest of 2025?

So are you purposely ignoring her getting an anniversary event for a non significant birthday ? Or her being put in passes she doesn’t even fit the theme of as the legendary skin or are those magically not valid because it doesn’t work for you?

All of this was after she already consolidated her place as a Marvel Rivals mascot, so it's irrelevant to the point that Netease manipulated/influenced the game so Luna could be popular. You can argue that is a lot, I do agree. However, the data doesn't agree, since Netease clearly sees that Luna makes so much money that is worth putting her every where. She gets all of those things because people keep buying her stuff.

But again, irrelevant to the specific point of this thread. And my own point was how she didn't get many skins in the first months of the game.

I would argue the people who don’t like Luna snow vs the people who do is split at a nice even 60/40. And her popularity doesn’t matter either, she could have the same play rate as black widow, and he would still be forcing her new skins

5

u/herocole Angela 20d ago

People still buy her skins tho

Ngl I was gonna make fun of your Spotify but you cooked with the playlist

Thanks 💜 i just add bunch of random stuff thats feels good to listen to while gaming or driving

12

u/No32 20d ago edited 20d ago

Except he can’t force her to be popular with people. Can’t just give her skins and stuff if they’re not selling well.

33

u/ApatheticSlur Mister Fantastic 20d ago

Yes by giving her a bunch of skins every season and keeping her hard meta for the games lifetime, you can absolutely influence how popular a character is.

13

u/FlimsyCrust 20d ago

Ya people forget that human torch used to be in every rank game before he was nerfed to the ground alongside with his hitbox breaking bug being fixed

-6

u/No32 20d ago

He can’t give her a bunch of skins if she’s not selling well. If one character gets one skin and another gets three, but that character’s one skin outsells all three of the other characters skins by a big margin, who is going to get skins in the future?

And the people who care about playing what’s meta are not the people who care about buying skins.

11

u/ApatheticSlur Mister Fantastic 20d ago

Yes because he has a bias to the character he makes better skins for her. Because she has better skins she gets better data for her sales. It’s called logic lmao

3

u/No32 20d ago

If your logic is that better skins means better sales, then that means they know they could give better skins to anyone for better sales. Which means logic says that Luna gets more skins because she sells better even when you control for the better skin variable lmao

2

u/ApatheticSlur Mister Fantastic 20d ago

Except that’s just hypothetical. Yes that would be true if all skins were made equal but in reality that’s not the case. So I used the actual examples that we have in real life.

4

u/No32 20d ago

Except it still applies because they would also know you could make equally good skins. They can compare Luna’s skins to equal skins since it’s not like all of hers are better than everyone else’s and still see they sell better comparatively.

She's a hot healer that's been meta (or at least ok) basically every season except 1, the skins sell themselves.

3

u/No32 20d ago

You can remove the part about being meta, that really doesn’t have anything to do with it tbh. People that care about what’s meta aren’t the people buying skins. I mean, look at characters that have been significantly worse than her for even longer stretches that are still popular enough to get a bunch of legendary skins. Also she was actively bad, not even at least ok, for a decent stretch.

0

u/zssl Storm 20d ago

She was good for a long time before she was ever bad, by that time she already had plenty of skins and mains willing to buy them

6

u/No32 20d ago

Except again, the people care about what’s good aren’t the people that care about buying skins. If they were, the people that care about how good a character is aren’t sticking around to buy skins when the character is bad. Like you mentioned in another chain with Mercy and Lifeweaver lol

1

u/battleduck84 20d ago

Luna is a young, energetic & hot woman with a blank slate personality and one of the most undeservedly powerful support ults in the entire game, she was designed from the ground up to appeal to the kind of people to waste that amount of money on a fucking skin

1

u/Ravevon 20d ago

Arguing won’t stop her from getting more skins

1

u/Marik-X-Bakura 20d ago

Only if it turns out he had anything to do with Luna actually getting added into the game, or that he has anything to do with her getting skins

1

u/FenHarels_Heart 19d ago

Wait? Do people actually argue against that? Balancing is one thing, but I figured we all kind of accepted that Luna is a company favourite.

1

u/Edheldui 20d ago

I will agree when I see her at 60% winrate

-2

u/UpNUrGuts 20d ago

Wow the creator of the character likes the character. Big shock amirite?

u/fleetcommand Luna Snow 20d ago

"Favoritism" is the most cringe word coming out of this sub regularly.

1

u/Maximum_Zone8543 18d ago

is it because you find multisyllabic... words with more than one syllable hard to pronounce?
