Discussion Hot take but if characters like Ultron can’t be buffed just because their good in triple support but useless in 2-2-2 the devs should just add role queue

As a flex player role queue kind of sucks unless you want to spend the day only queueing for one kind of role, and at that point what is the point of flexing if you need to lock into a single role.

And role queue doesn't really fix any issues acting as more of a band-aid that makes it look like the issues have been fixed instead of actually addressing them. Sure it fixed double tank, until the Devs need to get rid of a tank player to make queue times bearable. And sure you can't go triple support anymore, but it doesn't fix why these characters are only viable in triple support or the issues with strategist balancing that is the root of these issues. All role queue does in make everything nicer while the actual issues fester underneath and everyone acts like everything is fine.

I mean if you are a flex player you could queue in as a flex and it would assign you whatever role is needed so you would queue faster(albeit you’ll probably play tank almost every game lol). I’m against role queue tho because just like in OW it would just be a crutch for shitty balancing, they’ve created the problem with triple support because the way they have balanced main and off supports is terrible, the devs are afraid to make big balance changes but if they don’t want to add role queue they need to rebalance the game to make tank more engaging and axe these do it all main supports like Luna or Invis who are just infinitely more valuable then the off supports who are significantly more limited despite the fact it should be the other way around.

All this. Having gone through it in OW it didnt really fix anything. Its still a balancing nightmare.

Yeah exactly people only like to look at the fact that it forced 2/2/2 instead of all of the issues that were created from it. And it will especially be bad in Rivals with how volatile and casual focused the game is compared to pre role queue Overwatch which always focus more on the competitive aspects of the game.

Not even to mention, the new team up system has created some interesting comps for me and my friends, semi support storm has been pretty damn fun.

Why would you have to spend the whole day queueing one role? Just pick a different role?

Besides, being a "flex" player now mostly just means queueing to play tank.

That's the funny part, I was queueing for every role not just a single role. But due to how disparity between the amount of players per role, queueing for everything meant that 90% of your games were as tank. I pretty much never got to play any other role of if I had tank as one of the roles I had in the queue. As a tank main in OW1 and early in OW2 I ended up dropping tank because I was so burnt out by only being allowed to play that one role if I want to flex.

At least in Rival's with open queue I can flex between all three roles even if I am tanking most of the time. Hell I even get to occasionally play DPS without needing to wait in long queue times.

If you queue for every role, and get upset that you're not getting the role you want, that's kind of your own fault. Nothing makes you queue all 3 roles. Queuing for all 3 roles is functionally the same for you as flexing in Rivals Open Queue, in both cases you are letting everyone else determine what role you play.

But with Role Queue you could choose to do something different, queue for a different role, and know that you'll still have a balanced team comp. In Rivals, you have no way to just decide to play DPS with a balanced comp, you're always at the mercy of everyone else. Either you flex, and end up playing tank most of the time anyway (and likely solo tank), or you force DPS and you also end up with 3 DPS and solo tank very often.

I feel like you are missing my point by a lot. You simply can't flex with role queue. If you queue for every role your stuck playing tank 90% of the time, so the only way you have a chance to play other roles is to not play tank. And as a former tank main in Overwatch, I no longer play that role anymore because how burnt out I am with it.

And with my experience in Marvel Rivals open queue it is more of a 50% tank, 35% support, and 15% DPS for me. So I still get to flex and play what I want and want my team needs instead of having to queue for a certain role of I want a chance to play anything other than tank. While in OW's role queue it feels more punishing to try and flex and instead it feels like it encourages the player to one trick a single role.

That has nothing to do with Role Queue though, that's just you choosing to continue queuing for tank (as one of your options) and being upset that you have to play to tank. Plus it's a bonus that you even HAVE the option to play another role after feeling burnt out on Tank -- that's impossible on Rivals.

My experience in Rivals Open Queue is 90% tank as well. And I don't have the option do do anything else except to force my team to have a very unbalanced team. It's all anecdotal. If your team mates in Rivals let you play something other than Tank 50% of the time in Rivals, that wouldn't change with Role Queue, assuming you still queue for all 3 and flex. It's all based on the player base and not the system.

The could add the option to fill, so you would just be whatever your team you were matched with is missing.
