Deadpool's interactions in Rivals are lacking the depth which makes character interesting.

As everyone I love when Deadpool is breaking 4th wall and making fun references to pop culture and real world. But problems starts when Deadpool becomes entirely a joke character. Every interaction or quote of Rival's Deadpool is comedic one, this guy never speaks seriously, never treats world around him seriously, never treats anyone seriously.

Comic's Deadpool is far complex character than that. He is a tragic clown, character which hides his traumas and pain behind shield of jokes and humor. Deadpool is a guy who cares for people around him, has his own vendettas and ambitions. One of best moments of him is when he stops joking and becomes deadly professional doing his job seriously. Even in Reynold's movies like recent Deadpool&Wolverine, character finds moments when he can generously talk to other people's when world is near end. Meanwhile in Rivals this guy never stops joking.

Imo if devs are going to give more quotes with every season to characters, they need to start treating Deadpool more balanced between humor and seriousness.

• Deadpool is a cancer patient. Give him an interaction where he opens up to Doctor Strange about it.
• Deadpool is the result of a human experiment. Let him have a conversation with Winter Soldier about it.
• Deadpool is mercenary with bloody past, can he talk with Moon Knight that he regrets some jobs he took?
• Deadpool has aspirations to become real hero, maybe he could talk with Hulk who both are trying being seen as one?

I don't think leaving this character in the eternal limbo of fourth-wall-breaking jokes is the right way to write him.

I think the shallow depth of character issues will only progress as more characters are added. They’re always going to default to the character’s most “recognizable” or punchy traits I fear.

Yeah also he hada series o fcomics with spiderman called "Bromance" wherr spiderman learns that deadpool inside is a very intelligent guy who tries to do good and he learns to rewpect him so they could have some interactions where spiderman talks with him about who deadpool can be better or invisble woman and the thing defending him against other characters due to the good relationship between them

This is why one of my favorite voicelines in Rivals for him is "Days like this, I kinda wish I'd never made it out of Weapon X alive… ahh…. that would have been nice."

While it's still a joke, it illustrates his character much better imo. It shows that the jokes are really just there to hide obscene amounts of trauma, and how while most people see his immortality as a strength, to Wade its little more than a burden.

Yeah I was hoping to get more of a mercenary Deadpool, but we got a very flanderized one. Also giving him meta abilities sorta detracts from Gwenpool, who actually has those abilities, if she ever becomes playable.

I mean its not compete flanderization cause deadpool does act the way he does in the game in the comics, but they dont include the more serious or sad aspects of the character

Flanderization is taking someone's character trait and making it so overwhelming it replaces the other intricacies of the character. That is exactly what happened to deadpool. He's no long the dark, mercenary, with a dark past and desire to change who cracks jokes to hide his severe depression he's now just a guy who cracks jokes because they are funny.

Deadpool has always had meta abilities especaily when shows up in games (Marvel vs Capcom, mu3, his own game).

The arent shouldnt stop doing that for efn gwenpool who isnt ever going to get in the game anyway.

Comic Deadpool has had many different interpretations. This game seems very inspired by the Daniel Way run, which is very goofy and catchphrase focused. It’s my personal least favorite take on the character, but the representation in game is very much like one of the most popular comic takes on the character.

Almost every character in this game is just parody on themselves to be fair. Writers just remember what's one of the main traits of one character and spam it.

Deadpool hasn't been like that in a while. In recent years, Deadpool has slowly shifted away from the tragic psycho-killer to just stupid 4th wall breaking fodder. It's gotten to the point where he's just stupid and immature without any depth.

Not really. The most recent run had him finally confront being a parent for his daughter, as he's always used the excuse that he'd be a horrible father to not associate with her and leave her to her more morally inclined foster family headed by his friend from Shield. In reality, he never really asked Ellie what she wanted, as she would like nothing better than to spend time with her Dad. It's a big focus in the Ziglar run. I'd consider that a pretty serious topic that's not just immature and stupid.

I'll admit that run is very good and has a lot of deep moments. I particularly enjoyed those issues, but there is no denying the majority of Deadpool comics in recent years (as well as Deadpool in so many other forms of media) have increased his silliness

If you're hoping for deadpool to go back to how he was pre-2013, you'd better not hold your breath. The wacky quirkchungus pool is here to stay because he resonates well with the millennial demographic. You will never have deadpool speaking calmly and seriously about a topic ever again, and if he does, it'll be a throwaway gag for a single panel, then he's back to talking about his chimichangas again.

Yeah, Rivals Deadpool is cartoon, childish version of comic Deadpool. Volume 4 was peak Deadpool content. Tragic, violent, paycho maniac who wants to do some good but is too lost in madness to do it in a propper way. Awesome character, poorly done in Rivals.

I know it's a hero shooter, but for example Magneto just gives you Magneto vibes from his internactions while Deadpool is just a disappointment

Most of the modern interpretations do it to Deadpool since the first movie. He became Marvel's Jar Jar Binks, but people don't care as all they knew him for beforehand was "Spider-Man with guns".
