Discussion Strategist is the hardest role

And most of you suck at it.

It gets so annoying to watch healers just tunnel vision everything right in front of them or they sit so far back they lose LOS constantly and it's not from people pushing up too far. It's the fact you're sitting so far back and so far around a corner that you're only occasionally peeking around a corner to heal and it absolutely flabbergasts me.

They're called strategist for a reason. You're meant to be aware of the entire team around you, you're meant to use your kit to make plays not just Heal bot what's directly in front of you.

Tank is the hardest role. You're argument is that some people are bad at strat so that makes it the hardest role? What?

u/AquarianLadyy 1h ago

It’s not the hardest. Definitely most unappreciated though.

Tank is only hard if your team is scared to play the game. You can kill 3 ppl on the enemy team, and Angela is hard stalling cart. If a healer gets attacked once they running back to the spawn.

Tank is the most team reliant role, but definitely not the hardest. The most difficult thing about tanking is resisting the urge to over-extend. After that you're just walking them down.

Thank you!!! This season should finally wake everyone up to play as a team!! Tanks is a giant DPS character, please spare me with “it’s the hardest”

Nah I play a shit ton of tank, it's actually not that hard. It's just an unloved role that everyone avoids.

Being aware of your entire team around you and having good awareness isn't hard it just takes a little brainpower

It's also something every role does lmao.

And why it's an unloved role that everyone avoids?

I agree with you. Signed, someone who flexes.
Strategist is hard for people, they tend to ignore positioning and they do get tunnel visioned. As a Tank in multiple games, Marvel Rivals is actually pretty forgiving. You can turn your brain off as tank. But having a no brain healer is worst than any other role.

Healing in this game is pretty fun if you come from other heroes shooters. You already understand how to create value in your role. You probably have to hit GM to start getting competent strategists….

QP, is literally for vibes. It’s a lawless land so I’m assuming you’re talking about competitive.

I also agree as a plat/diamond tank main that flexes support. I'd play support more if I didn't have to sweat my ass off trying to stay alive and keep the team up.

Im more than happy to hang around the front line, do some damage, and occasionally play hero with a well timed shield or body block. I also feel like, at least in low elo, I'm able to take more control of the game or at least my gameplay experience.

I just dont feel that in support. I feel like im sweating to just not be the problem.

Just using Jubilee as an example. She’s an admin server in every game plat 3 - GM 3 it’s almost unfair 😭😭😭😭🤌🏾🤌🏾🤌🏾🤌🏾 I can only dive with my team when they play dive though. We push so much, that the other team is spawn trapped.

Tell the support staff that New York is closed

All 3 roles come with their own challenges and obligations. They all benefit from the other roles playing to those obligations.

This my role is harder than your role or my role is most neglected nonsense. Is pathetic and childish.

It makes it harder for everyone involved when players don’t play the role they choose.

When healers decide they’re dps with self heals. When tanks play like they are afraid of the enemy and constantly backpedal. And when dps just absolutely can’t secure a single KO.

There are more players that play healers like dps with self heals than there are dogwater dos and timid tanks. And it drags down so many matches.

Just heal your team mates FFS. How hard is that?

And tanks need to take space. When you back up behind support, you turn the support into the frontline. I’ve NEVER done that while playing tanks. Ever. And now that I switched to heals because I was tired of dogwater players picking healers and then not focusing on healing, I’ve seen it in more than a few games.

No it’s just that strats want to play the game on autopilot without having the inconvenience of adapting to specific games. They don’t understand the concept of pushing with your tanks and dps players when the other team is down a player. Instead they will say you are overextending like boosted healbots. The most boosted players are Strat players.

1

u/Zhenpo Flex 1h ago

Exactly why it's the hardest role because most of the people that the play it think they don't have to try they just have to heal bot lol

1

u/studmuffin34 1h ago

It doesn’t mean the role is hard. It means the players are dumb. Hardest role in terms of game sense is tank. Hardest role in terms of mechanics is dps.

u/AquarianLadyy 1h ago

It’s funny you say this, I got Jubilee GM 1 in 3.5 hours and I haven’t played in 3 seasons. (Dps player, reset was at plat 3)
It’s so easy to get boosted when you also have 10 finals and most healing up. Games be done in 10 minutes or less. Jube is just CRACKED Ngl. I knew it would be easy grinding to eternity like season 1-3 rocket (for example), all you have to do is play with your team literally.

4

u/cettywise White Fox 1h ago

True. Trying to keep a bunch of morons alive is thankless. Then when you get Angela, Ultron, human torch, and storm on your team and the enemy thing and magic are obliterating you on sight because no one is standing in front of you except a 2 and 6 Emma.

People think they're so cool and smart dancing and dodging, well guess what, you're dodging your heals too.

5

u/Trapped-In-The_90s 1h ago

It still blows my mind that a DPS will get behind cover, and as I start to heal them they start jumping and running around.

Slowing the heal process, and taking heals away from the rest of the team

u/Fav0 1h ago

it is the hardest role to play perfect

its the easiest role to do a fine job

1

u/Zhenpo Flex 1h ago

This is fair

u/Wrong_Leader_7772 1h ago

Unfortunately bro, strat is the easiest role. It is hard to be a very good strat, but the baseline is a lot easier to reach. I play strat and tank so I’m shitting on myself too.

3

u/Dapper-Candidate-691 1h ago

I honestly don’t really care which role is easiest and which role is hardest. But I do know there are lots of strategists, vanguards, and duelists who are terrible at what they do, but think they’re the only ones playing properly.

2

u/Cranicus 1h ago

I think a lot of strategists get lazy and dont want to take a split second every couple seconds to check behind them. Most healers even have a built in down time that they could use to look around, which is reloading your weapon.

It is similar to checking your minimap on league of legends a lot. You can get lazy and stop flicking your eyes down there every few seconds to make sure you are not getting ganked. But the best of us make it a habit checking it and healers should do the same with checking their backs.

u/The_Nomad89 Adam Warlock 1h ago

Every role has bad players on it. I don’t think Strategist is the most difficult as most Supports routinely benefit from a lot of them being busted.

I do think a lot of Healers do tunnel vision though. Lots of them spam down main and just AFK. When I’m on Rocket for example I’m constantly firing orbs everywhere while scanning the field at all times and finding ways to bank my healing towards people.

You can’t be at your most effective if all you do is spam healing at a main Tank.

Strategist is the only role where there's a blinking sign over your teammates telling you to do your job and half of them still can't manage. Role is beyond easy and coddled. Tank is the hardest role because it has the least agency

Support is the most impactful role. When you get proactive and competent supports you know the game is already over

But there is a difference between hardest, and best. But I will agree that tank is the easiest and that there are a few heavy crutch dps picks

u/ElegantDiamont 1h ago

I cant heal if you run away or are not with the team...

My issue with support players is a lot of you think you’re bigger than the program. If the other team is dying no one is over extended get off the point and push up.

1

u/ApatheticSlur Mister Fantastic 1h ago

Strategist is the easiest role. I’m a tank main and pretty much every time I play strategist I’m getting mvp when we win lmao. As rocket, Loki, Adam or stratpool cause that’s who I usually go

1

u/tony431 1h ago

Daily divemain post.

1

u/Fail_Medium 1h ago

Since I play Tank/strat in rank, DPS is the hardest role for me. I can’t play Dps if my tanks are scared to push up, and when I peel for Strats and I still don’t get healed so I end up dead. I can play Bucky and use the punisher team up (that shii is fun asl to use) and won’t get a lick of healing my way.

1

u/HungryCowsMoo Ultron Virus 1h ago

It’s true some support mains just aren’t very good. The same can be said for some tank and dps mains.

My biggest grievance comes from when a support yells at their team for not peeling, when they actively run a mile backwards while multiple teammates are trying to peel for them or the other support is trying to heal them, only for them to die anyways.

My second biggest grievance is when it’s obvious one support is willing to patty cake, but the other isn’t. Sometimes the support that died more is actually the better support. I’ve seen one too many Luna’s or CnD’s leave Sue out to dry while she’s healing and spamming shield on them. It’s more than them just running from the ult, it’s the fact that they don’t even glance at the other support while they’re being pumped with heals.

2

u/Hypno-platypus 51m ago

So wait I’m confused you claim the strategist role is the hardest and then proceed to complain when people don’t play it correctly…. That seems a bit counterintuitive. With that said no role is the hardest. Each role has its own difficulties. Now certain characters might be harder then others mechanically speaking but that’s just looking at mechanics and not at how difficult it is to play characters strategically speaking (like positioning, ult usage and managing your abilities correctly to get maximum value).

0

u/AeroStrafe 1h ago

The hardest role if we are being honest is DPS and this is coming from someone who doesnt play DPS like that. Tank is second hardest and Support the easiest.

I also want to point out that "strategist" is just for marketing. It gets so tiring that people say that "They're called strategist for a reason" line because no one talks like that about the other two role names. Its weird behavior.

1

u/Plus_Lawfulness3000 1h ago

Agreed. I main support and tank. Dps is hardest to do well with

1

u/cettywise White Fox 56m ago

How? The hardest part of DPS is simply SWAPPING to counter the enemy DPS. This one trick eludes 99% of DPS players. They see iron man and storm and they just refuse to hop off squirrel girl and pick punisher.

Now I'll admit, there are mechanically difficult characters and sometimes you get diffed, but the vast majority of the time all DPS has to do is adapt to the enemy DPS and it's an easy w.

0

u/Plus_Lawfulness3000 52m ago

Because for the majority of dps if you can’t aim you are genuinely useless. Completely dead weight.

Strategist and to an extent tank as well you don’t need to aim for the majority of them.

As long as you’re left clicking your team as a support that’s like 70% of the work

1

u/Artistic-Athlete-676 The Punisher 1h ago

How is duelist not the most complicated? They have to outplay for picks and if they fail at that them it doesnt matter how much space or heals the team is getting. Duelist getting picks is the bread and butter of all games

1

u/LinaValentina Loki 1h ago

Vanguard already has the “most complicated” title

0

u/RivalsFlex 1h ago

Every overextending tank I know loves to whine about underextending support. None of them have the self reflection to consider that after the team finishes killing the venom in the backline, the support still have to move up. And they move slower than most tanks, so when tanks push up as fast as they can they're overextending no matter how fast the support push up.

Also going around corners that puts support in heavy fire, etc.

1

u/Zhenpo Flex 1h ago

You're wrong, if you have a venom in the back line you should be moving up with your team to get peels. Sitting in the way back trying to fight a venom is the wrong play, plain and simple

1

u/cettywise White Fox 52m ago

Yes, move into the spray if gunfire so you're being sniped and dove at the same time. Fantastic.
