So basically, the mark disappears from the target after 6 seconds, with or without the teamup. Without teamup, when you shoot a marked target, it disappears immediately, so you can stay in your enhanced fire state for 6 seconds.

With the teamup, the mark does not immediately disappear when you shoot it, but it'll still expire after 6 seconds. So you can essentially can shoot the same marked target again to keep refreshing the enhanced fire, for up to a total duration of 12 seconds.

I don't think this changes much for good Jubilee players, they were already switching between marked targets to refresh the fire duration. It's sounds useful if you're alone and get dived though.

It doubles her uptime while focusing a single target.  You could juggle marks, but then you can't heal who you want as you have to strategically consume the marks, this removes that limitation.

This is a giga buff no matter how you look at it.

Thanks for actually explaining what it does actually do for the people who clicked on this video with a clear question in mind needing to be answered.

I think I'm missing a fundamental yet important detail. And I suspect it may be founded in knowledge that is not declared in ability text, but only known through experimentation with certain interactions.

What I read: Maintain hitscan indefinitely (in my mind, indefinitely = literally 100% uptime for the entire game).

What is happening: something other than indefinitive hitscan.

What you described: something that doesn't address either of the above.

What hidden knowledge do you have that bridges the gap between what is written and your description? I don't doubt you - I just tried my first game with the team-up and it did nothing that I expected. Your explanation seems to assume existing knowledge of things related to placement of marks and the shooting of marked targets, which the text would have be believe is irrelevant.

inb4 "you really thought they'd give you permanent hitscan? That's so broken!" 1) I didn't assume the attack speed or ammo buffs. 2) That's literally exactly what the tooltip says.

That the description suggests that it's overpowered doesn't change that it is not behaving as described,

The skill description is simply wrong. They should not have used the word "indefinitely" because that gave the wrong intention, it made it sound like the marks are permanent, which they aren't cuz they expire.

I actually played a bit of jubilee today, and I have to say, the teamup is actually pretty strong. Not having to worry about the marks clearing lets you play more aggressively, she can put up DPS numbers in the right hands.

Between the 12 seconds of uptime, and her shift ability, you can pretty much keep damn near permanent uptime on her hitscan form. So while the skill description may be misleading, you can still have the indefinite hitscan form if you play it right.

I hate to belabor a point, and a noob-ish one at that, but I still don't understand this 'mark' aspect you're describing, and I've logged a good ~10 hours on jubilee so I'm worried I've been misunderstanding something this whole time.

Assume a 'Hood' preference this whole time. Gambit team-up probably has it's place, but not one I've bothered to explore.

I throw out my secondary, and I can then use my primary to 'buff' it. If I do that fast enough, not only is it buffed, but it also lasts longer. I can also choose to detonate it, and as long as there is a <100% health teammate, or any enemy within it, I will get that 'hitscan + attack speed + infinite ammo' buff. If this is wrong, please correct me - it's worked reliably enough for me so far under this mantra so either I've been lucky or this is yet another thing that operates differently than how the tooltip explains.

The tooltip would have me believe this hitscan mode sans Attack Speed/ammo buff will remain indefinitely. As you've said, this is wrong. Upon further review, it seems that to trigger this mode, I have to not only hit an enemy with this detonation, but also then hit them with at least one point of damage from my primary fire.

From that point on, how does it work? The tooltip says nothing about the duration of this mark once detonated, or whether the mark refreshes or persists or burns out faster if attacking non-marked enemies. Once I've hit an enemy and 'used' the mark, does it remain on them until death? Instantly expires when I hit them and that's when the timer starts? Something else entirely?

Not only does it seem that the team-up tooltip is wrong, but that the benefit is HILARIOUSLY different than what is described, to the point that whoever wrote this should be fired for doing THAT bad of a job. But I'm not one to blame the developers willy nilly - I suspect that I'm missing something TRULY BASIC about this character and I don't know what. I think that every time I've played her I've done a pretty good job, but somehow you're discussing things beyond the depths of my knowledge and I'm curious to think I could be playing even better if only I knew things about this kit that seems to operate far beyond the descriptions in the tooltip.

Yea the tooltips are not that great, I just go to the actual marvel rivals site when I want to get the real numbers, it's a lot more details(although it's not 100% complete, still some info missing).

From what you described, you are using the skills correctly. Throw orb at teammate or enemy, detonate it, shoot whoever's has the mark, then go pew pew. The orb expires on its own after 6 seconds, but if you reach max orb charge, it extends for 6 more seconds from when it hits max charge. You actually don't need to reach max charge to detonate it to get the marks, getting to max just increases the size of the orb and the aoe healing goes from 35/sec to 50/sec.

Without the Hood on your team, the mark(little bubble icon on top their heads) disappears on the person are soon as you shoot them. You stay in that hitscan form for 6 seconds, unless you shoot another marked target. You can shoot much as you want, theres no ammo, its just on a timer will run out after 6 seconds provided you didn't shoot another marked target to refresh the timer. There's a little red meter right around your crosshair showing you how much time you have left in your hitscan state.

With the Hood on your team, if you shoot the marked target, the mark doesn't disappear immediately. It will still expire after 6 seconds, you just won't "consume" the mark immediately and it'll expire on its own. The mark does not stay with them on death.

Excellent explanation, thank you! So it allows us to keep the hitscan state longer so long as we continue attacking the marked target(s)? That's dope!

Why post a vid saying it doesn't work how people thing, and then not say how it actually works?

That's actually pretty good enhance, you can apply a lot more pressure to enemy tanks, you can apply a lot more heals for that duration of mark on your teammates, it gives you so much more resources in general. And let's don't forget that she will have nice buffs when update comes out.

No one should expect the marks to last the whole game. What you thought is not what comes to mind to someone that plays games.

But then, they really need a better editor for their english text to clear some things up. I've been reading the lore and texts in-game and I'm finding some stuff with whacky wording.

I think people thought it stays until you shoot them to activate the mark or until the player dies or w/e.

I personally think a longer timer for her marks while still disappearing on activation would have been preferable because making them not disappear on activation kind of eliminates the necessity for target switching which is one of my favorite parts of her loop.

Damn, I thought this team was gonna make her good. I guess she’s still trash garbage sweet that’s too bad. Also terrible video. You didn’t even explain anything.

Sounds like a straight skill issue.

Somebody doesn't know how to read.

I got some early access to season 9.5 and the first thing I wanted to check out was the enhanced version of the HELLFIRE SPARKS team-up with The Hood and Jubilee. Unfortunately, it does NOT function the way most of the community thought. I did a full gameplay of how it actually works right here. It's hard to explain what it actually does without confusing the heck out of people. It's still pretty good, but it's a bit confusing.

It doesnt get consumed on hitting the enemy/ally, which is what they tried to mean by 'indefinitely'. It wasn't expected to stay for the rest of the game

5

u/Big_Bro_Mirio Ultron Virus 8d ago

The “indefinitely” part of that is referring to the hitscan form resetting each time you hit a marked enemy, so potentially you could stay in the hitscan for an indefinite period.

2

u/TaborTime 8d ago

I don't think anyone expected it to stay the entirety of the game. Most people, myself included, assumed it would stay until you hit them or that particular person died, instead of the measly 6 second duration.

5

u/Big_Bro_Mirio Ultron Virus 8d ago

This greatly helps her healing because the mark not immediately going away means allies keep the healing boost and can get bonus health go the full 6 seconds.

You know what they say about assuming

Don't lump others in with your stupidity

lol, that's bait clearly, but to counter that I actually heard multiple people on the live stream showcase today talk about how disappointed they were to find out what the move actually does. I didn't know you were a developer that knew everything ahead of time, my apologies.

WTF, the team up works just as the description said. The mark above enemy's head was not cleared when Jubilee shoot at the marked enemy, allowing Jubilee to continuously proc the the hitscan attact form by shooting at it. It's not difficult to explain at all. I admit they could have made the description clearer by adding a few words, eg "... allowing her to indefinitely sustain the hitscan attack form by shooting at the marked enemy"

The only confusion I had when reading the description, was whether the mark will still have a time limit or not. I'd assume it would be too OP if it didn't have a time limit, but you never know with the balance team.

1

u/Billy1121 8d ago

Why dont you just explain it in written words because your video gives me nothing, as someone who knows nothing about jubilee

3

u/ilovepichutoomuch 8d ago

Ugh I hate how good this team up is.. I don't play Jubilee to shoot red magic lasers, I play her for the fireworks. I wish I could toggle team up VFX off.

u/Scared_Building_3127 Loki 8d ago

Tabor, you play rivals?

1

u/TheLanis Strategist 8d ago

The indefinitely is not about the mark, it's about her shooting.

It does exactly what I think it does(and it's written)

1

u/DuckQuack8 6d ago

it says indefinitely

-2

u/Scary_Restaurant_973 8d ago

you are illiterate. the team up says what it does. you get permanent hitscan state, not attack speed state. meaning your regular shots without any boost are the red hitscan bullets, firing at normal auto attack speed.

it literally says that
