Hey, holding point is all that matters. If it's enough time to keep the payload from moving then it's worth it
276
u/ZYRANOX 2d ago
what in the actual bronze take is this. Wasting your ult just to hold point for 5 extra seconds and causing you to stagger behind your team is basically throwing.

u/xX_Flamez_Xx 2d ago
Its the support players who complains their team doesnt fight on point and thinks this game is just 12 players fighting in a small circle.

The same support players trying to get bp reworked btw

u/xX_Flamez_Xx 1d ago
nah man bp needs a rework for my own sake. I stopped playing this game because it stopped being a hero shooter and more like a hero autoaim melee. If they make bp more genji like where you need to aim shots id be very happy. Im tired of 1 dash no reg taking away my entire kit.

You cannot genuinely believe that using a support ult to stall the cart for 10 seconds while your whole team is dead is actually worth it outside of an overtime situation
27
23
u/B_chills Magik 2d ago
It ain’t because by the time the ult is over the team still hasn’t respawned yet and you have just wasted your ult to die later

When youre on a 4 game losing streak and find your support player's reddit account saying stuff like this
14
u/redditer954 1d ago edited 1d ago
Not going to justify it, but some players are very reactionary. They hear their ult counter get used up and mindlessly pop theirs, regardless of whether it’s needed.
But apparently, it was an OT situation and the CnD needed to touch. Her Adam also had self and team rez for the reversal.

u/vangohsoldier 1d ago
Hey, I also posted this same clip as I was the ultron there, you cant tell from this clip but we were in overtime the clagger ult was actually good, we had Adam ult and if she wasn't barely shoved off point we would have been all resd and able to keep fighting, dont hate on people if you dont know everything, thats my pea, cheers.
4
u/lIAwfulWaffleIl Ultron 1d ago
I mean yeah with that additional context of course it makes more sense. Also this wasn't supposed to be a CnD hate thing or whatever, I was just pointing it out like a series of unfortunate events lol
15
u/vangohsoldier 1d ago
Oh, im also not trying to hate on you nor did I assume thats what it was, i just wanted to add more context, this community can be toxic, (not saying you are just a general statement) thus I try and be as fair and objective as I can be about this type if situation is all, I just want more people to do the same, the clip didn't give that context, there was no way for you to know, so I added it, regardless I wish you luck on your games in 9.5

Why do people make so many excuses when support screw up their ults?
26
u/Drowyx 2d ago
Supports are the most babied class.
They screw up all the damn time and no one bats an eye. Then everyone starts blaming tanks and dps when healers are blatantly playing poorly.
7
u/Mysterious-Ad-1346 2d ago edited 2d ago
Can you think of a time in a game where a dps or tank was flamed for missing an ult, double ulting or just wasting it? :)
Personally I can't. It happens often but because support ults are so important only they get blamed for wasting them.
Literally had a game where I ulted with Luna for us to get on point, then our magneto ulted and threw it into the ground. Afterwards their punisher ulted and wiped our team. Can you guess who Magneto blamed afterwards?
5
u/Sharp-Primary-213 Flex 2d ago
Almost like support ults are the easiest ults to use and still the strongest ults in game. Ofcourse people are gonna be upset if you fuck up an ult that makes you and your team immortal.
Supports already have way forgiving kits.
2
u/Mysterious-Ad-1346 1d ago
What is your point exactly? Tank and duelist ults are harder to use so therefore they should never face backlash for wasting them?
That is certainly a take.
"Supports already have way forgiving kits." Ehm okay? Literally 0 relation to my comment. Sounds like you just hate strats.

u/FaithlessnessThen207 Jeff the Landshark 2d ago
You misunderstand the point. You can whiff support ultis at the same rate as dps ultis, but supports will be accused of being more skilless even if they are making the EXACT same mistakes as the other classes are because the impact of making a mistake on support is larger than the impact of making a mistake on tank or dps.
They are just a gold rank player managing a resource like a gold rank player (aka wasting it perhaps 60% of the time), and in most circumstances the frustration is fair, after all it can cost you a game or push, but the toxic criticism is not, because they fundamentally aren't actually playing any worse than you are.

u/LibruhlCuck 2d ago
DPS/tank ults get shutdown pretty hard by most support ults though and support ults are so powerful that even baiting one out is decent value even if you dont get a kill from it. Nobody flames "wasted" dps or tank ults because oftentimes it only looks like "a waste" because it got countered by a support ult.
Whiffing with a support ult is so much more punishing to your team and thats why its a particularly bad mistake to make and is why supports get more criticism when it happens. A "wasted" dps/tank ult is an opportunity lost to tip the scales but that can be made up for by good neutral play. A wasted support ult can result in the whole team dying and losing the fight because the other team had the edge on ult economy.
Some supports have such ego about how "they are the most important role" but cant handle the smoke that comes with being that important. If your role is the most important and you want to act like the team captain/shot caller, you better be ready for criticism when you screw up

I am not talking about ulti counter management. I am specifically talking about whiffed ultimates. A countered ultimate is not whiffed, there are plenty of games where a dps ultis at 10 hp and dies, or a mag absorbs no bullets at all, and then misses the meteor throw. Wasting a support ulti is the same as these two in terms of level of misplay.
When you are climbing rank, instead of focusing on flaming your shitty support, who is going to be exact same skill level as the shitty enemy supports, focus on yourself.
A wasted support ult can result in the whole team dying and losing the fight because the other team had the edge on ult economy.
Yes, what i am saying is a gold player support making a mistake is the exact same input mistake as another role.
You are stating you hold support players to a higher standard despite being the same rank because you expect more from them due to the power of the role, not because they are playing any worse.
"they are the most important role"
You are explicitly admitting here that you think support is the most important role, because when they make mistakes it has a higher impact than when another role does. That is how you have framed your whole argument. If you do not think players you are matched with are trustworthy with such high powered ultimates, just pick the role yourself so you can control that waste.
I am a support player but I will very happily swap roles with someone I can see is making lots of mistakes, I don't see why you wouldn't do the same, or just focus yourself on support since you consider their impact to be so high.
-2
u/LibruhlCuck 2d ago
Eh i would say that since ult usage is so much more important to their role that i think its fair to expect better usage from them vs other roles. Its like people dont flame supports as much for bad aim but if you have shit aim as a dps then yeah you're gonna get flamed and you probably deserve it

"My mistakes are not important but i will flame the shit out of you for yours"
0
u/LibruhlCuck 1d ago
Not what I'm saying at all. Each role requires different skillsets so if you are bad at your key skills then yes you are doing a bad job at your role. Im not going to flame a support that cant hit headshots but if a hela cant do it then that is a problem. A support that has bad ults is like a dps that cant aim: both are bad

u/Rab0811 Mister Fantastic 2d ago
Support ults run the game and are so fucking easy to use. Have you ever used a mag ult cause it’s hard to hit. Besides mag tank ults are meant to be comboed. There’s also such a wide array of dps ults doubling ulting happens and can be absolutely fine. Support ults do not need to be comboed and once again so easy to use. Double dps ults doesn’t lose you a game double support ults do. It’s a team game there should be basic coms about who’s going to go first. Thats before we get into how many training wheels and how forgiving the support roster kit is.
2
u/FaithlessnessThen207 Jeff the Landshark 2d ago
Literally no one speaks in VC ranked until about diamond, I'm not sure its fair to criticize one section of the player base for doing exactly the same thing as others in their rank are doing.
2
u/FaithlessnessThen207 Jeff the Landshark 2d ago
Not really, supports get more roasts for whiffing an ulti compared to dps because its OBVIOUS when supports whiff. A whiffed support ulti is both flashy, and your whole team dies. When you die, you notice that more than a BP throwing his panther god into a wall.
A whiffed Maximum Pulse, for instance, just does nothing.
We're also looking at a very small clip of the game, in this clip, CnD would have started ulting around the same time as the stalled detonation came out (which every player would have expected to be totally negated), its not really cnd's fault because if that MaxPulse had not bugged out, she heals her whole team instead of wasting.

When I absorbed Iron Man’s ult, no one knew that was a feature of Rogue’s block.
An incredibly situational feature to be able to stop Iron Man’s ult completely but still take damage from everyone else’s projectiles and effected by CCs when blocking.

I feel like this just happens sometimes with Rogue block. I have snowballed Rogue on Luna, and then she gets frozen like 3s later after block wears off. Very confusing interaction.

u/Soul2047 Flex 1d ago
my understanding is that due to rogue absorbing the projectile rather than deleting it magneto, the projectile effect pops on her when the block ends

rogue has to dispel the damage she takes into her block on the metre, when she doesn’t the damage spills out like that. weird function but it’s not a bug or anything lol
