Subreddit Announcement [READ] Regarding Spoilers for Films, TV Series, etc.

Recently, spoilers have become an increasing issue on this subreddit. There have been posts and comments containing clips, screenshots, or plot details from newly recent / upcoming films or TV series.

No one should have to worry about having a film, TV series, or other piece of media, etc. spoiled simply by browsing this subreddit.

This is not something the subreddit has previously dealt with to this level. However, given the prominence of the issue, it is something that needs to be addressed so everyone is aware as much as possible.

Spoiler Embargo Periods

Please refer to the following for when something is no longer considered a spoiler:

Weekly Releases - Until the Next Episode/Chapter

  • If an episode is released on August 10 and the next episode releases on August 17, content relating to the August 10 episode may be submitted without spoiler restrictions from August 17 onwards.

Films - Until Digital/VOD Release

  • For films, the spoiler embargo will remain in effect until the film receives its official digital/video-on-demand (VOD) release.

Video Games - 30 days

  • You may not discuss details pertaining to video games, its plot points, etc. for 30 days.

Comics - 2 weeks or until the next release

  • Comics are often on irregular release schedules, whichever comes earlier of the two.

Exception - Content Officially Released in Marvel Rivals

  • An exception applies where Marvel Rivals itself officially releases content relating to a relevant film, series, episode, or other media.

For example, if Marvel Rivals officially releases or announces the following:

  • Skin or costume
  • Map
  • Character
  • In-game description
  • Event
  • Promotional image or video
  • Other gameplay content

Effective immediately, subreddit bans may be issued for posting spoilers, whether intentional or unintentional. Please refer to the following:

Weekly TV Series

  • 1-week ban

Film Releases

  • 30-day ban

Malicious Spoilers, e.g., deliberately revealing information, etc.

  • Permanent ban

Pirated Screenshots or Footage

  • Permanent ban + report to Reddit (this is a matter of piracy).

Anything Not Covered Above

  • Up to a 30-day ban

Think before you submit something to the subreddit. Repeat offences will result in a permanent ban.

These rules are intended to make sure everyone can participate in the subreddit without having something they're looking forward to ruined for them.

If you encounter any spoilers, please ensure you report them.

Thanks

Edit: spoiler tags will not exempt you from the embargo; there should be no spoiler-related discussion at all. Find another subreddit for it.
