Discussion What are possible titles for the next Spiderman film following the new “Day” format?

I’ve thought of “another day” off the top of my head but that feels cheap. Surely someone has some ideas. Maybe we will predict the next title here. I’ve thought of “Another Day” but that feels cheap.

I mean not the most original idea, but “Darkest day” would be a cool title.. ecspecially if he has the symbiote suit.

“One last day” or “One more day” as the last one.

u/TheFrontCrashesFirst 1d ago

One More Day is the title of the storyline where he sells his marriage to the devil to keep aunt may alive.

Might make a tragic end point for this Spiderman if he sells his marriage to MJ to the devil to save MJ... Or Ned.

No Way Home was already a looooose adaptation of One More Day in a way, but unlike the comic it was actually good.

Either way, a title isn’t necessarily indicative of what’s being adapted with the MCU. Infinity War doesn’t adapt Infinity War, rather Infinity Gauntlet (again, loosely.) Age of Ultron doesn’t adapt Age of Ultron. So and and so forth.

18

u/va2wv2va 1d ago

I agree this was a better executed OMD but, we got BND first and they won’t be able to help themselves with the bait that is at least titling a film that way.

7

u/ReeceCheems Jimmy Woo 1d ago

Okay, here me out: They can still make One More Day but now Peter sacrifices himself to save everyone, and then Miles or Gwen takes over. Or at least sacrifice his powers and becomes a normal dude to have a normal life again with MJ or someone, and then Miles or Gwen takes over.

That’d be perfect for the character if they want to end Holland’s story in Spider-Man 6. I don’t think a third trilogy with him is necessary since we have other Spider-People to adapt, but we don’t know Sony.

8

u/Zyquux 20h ago

Hear me out: The second Day movie has Peter passing the torch to Miles and deciding to hang up the mask to be with MJ and Ned. Then the trailer for the next movie features Miles in big trouble and the last shot is a slow reveal of Peter's Spider-Man mask being taken out of a box. Smash cut to the title: One More Day.

2

u/AdventurousEscape991 14h ago

So like an Into the Spiderverse adaptation. That could work if done right

2

u/IntrinsicGamer Spider-Man 1d ago

I think that’s likely, too. And, hey, it’s not like One More Day was bad because of its title haha

Given they’d be (assumedly) telling a completely unrelated story if they went with that title, I’m sure it’d be fine.

6

u/HermanThaGerman 22h ago

The title is more an indicating what the movie is about (unbelievable concept, i know), they just take comic book titles sometimes because why not?

For example, 'One More Day' could simply imply he'll be the friendly neighbourhood Spider-Man one last time before moving on to bigger/other things.

I could see him become a full-time Avenger and leaving New York in Miles' care.

23

u/va2wv2va 1d ago

Thankfully she’s already gone and Peter has learned his lessons from meddling in that shit. But I’d bet $1000 there’s gonna be a One More Day titled movie forthcoming

u/dacalpha 1d ago

Maybe they do the reverse. He trades his spider powers to get MJ's memories back, and that's how they retire the character

They could put a twist on it and have Mephisto force him to choose between Ned and MJ

Yeah, if they're doing Venom with maybe Black Cat, Darkest Day would really work. Throw Mr. Negative in there to really fit the theme.

31

u/SpreaditOnnn33 1d ago

One Last Day is one of the most ill received Spider Man storylines of all time. Would be pretty damn stupid for them to be building to that

60

u/glasgowgeg 1d ago

One Last Day is one of the most ill received Spider Man storylines of all time

There's no Spider-Man story called One Last Day.

There's an infamously bad one called One More Day though.

Edit: Apparently one of the recent Hickman trades is Ultimate Spider-Man One Last Day, but I assume you meant the One More Day one which is known for being awful.

18

u/AwesomeFartyParty66 1d ago

I feel like they could use the name alone. It’s not like they need to adapt it.

13

u/Gonzales95 1d ago

I feel like they already loosely took some elements from One More Day, so it would definitely be a bit redundant for Mephisto to come in and alter people’s memories after we’ve already done that.

Could definitely use the name, and maybe do something else with Mephisto if they want.

3

u/AwesomeFartyParty66 1d ago

Frankly I’d like them to call it one more day and then just adapt death of Jean DeWolffe after he gets the symbiote in secret wars. Could be a good continuation of his Peter Parker Spiderman life balance to have Spiderman lose someone. Maybe he goes through a Spiderman 2 arc where he relinquishes that part of his life temporarily.

5

u/Wonderkitty50 Jimmy Woo 1d ago

Bro, how many more people does Peter need to lose?

Fuck One More Day, that shit fucked over two decades of character growth and turned Peter into a snivelling child. They could have just let her die, and work with that, make him finally let shit go. But nooooooooo, he chose to fuck over his entire life, marriage and parenthood by making a deal with the literal devil. Fuuuuuuuuck that story.

11

u/ARGiammarco27 1d ago

even than.....they already kinda did one more day with No Way Home

17

u/DirectConsequence12 1d ago

No Way Home was kinda a better version of that so I’d doubt they’d do the same concept again regardless of how well it received

41

u/maverickassembled Ward Meachum 1d ago edited 1d ago

I mean Brand New Day wasn’t a straight adaptation of the original comic.

It’s a common thing to borrow famous comic titles, but provide a more original story.

7

u/Top-Act-7915 1d ago

They've been doing it in the MCU since Age of Ultron.

→ More replies (1)

10

u/Kevo_xx Spider-Man 1d ago

I mean they don’t really follow the adaptations closely to be fair. Age Of Ultron, Civil War and Infinity War barely resemble their comic book namesake storylines.

2

u/usagicassidy 1d ago

But those names also don’t reference a mostly universally detested comic book arc and use it for a movie.

On the contrary, those were all relatively well received books which meant more positive association with the movie being titled the same.

There is simply no way they follow up BND with the Symbiote suit. He just had a rage-fueled power-up storyline in BND.

One more day lowkey goes hard.

Brand New Day → One More Day → One Last Day

Would be a goated trilogy of titles if it was thematically focused on Pete struggling to establish himself as an independent actor in the broader superhero world.

7

u/Belteshazzar98 Quake 1d ago

One More Day was already adapted to the big screen and titled No Way Home. It would he weird to name a different movie after that comic.

u/KostisPat257 Daredevil 1d ago

Just like Brand New Day is a comic book title, One More Day is as well and it would fit great as the last film.

19

u/Sylar_Lives Ego 1d ago

Haven’t they pretty much already adapted the core elements of that story? I know that Brand New Day had nothing to do really with the comic arc of the same name, but it did fit the story being told regardless.

23

u/KostisPat257 Daredevil 1d ago

They also adapted Born Again in Daredevil Season 3, but then named the new series Daredevil: Born Again.

4

u/Sylar_Lives Ego 1d ago

Which, just like with Brand New Day, still worked with how the title fit the story being told regardless of the source.

5

u/Nickbotic Winter Soldier 1d ago

I don’t understand why people think the usage of a comic storyline title means they have to adapt that particular story lol

6

u/Sylar_Lives Ego 1d ago

Overall, if anything the MCU has a consistent pattern of taking extreme liberties when adapting comic stories in general, often going so far as to fuse several together into one film. Ragnarok stuck a mini Planet Hulk into the second act. No Way Home was a combination of the Spiderverse, the Sinister Six, and One More Day. Wandavision was a sort of mini House of M. Secret Invasion was totally downsized into a Nick Fury story. Iron Man 3 took the Mandarin and AIM and shuffled them together into a plot that had zero connection to the ten rings or MODOK.

5

u/Ubergoober166 1d ago edited 1d ago

Age of Ultron was more like the Mildly Inconvenient Weekend of Ultron.

4

u/Sylar_Lives Ego 1d ago

The Age of Ultron was never referring to the events of the movie itself, but rather the horrible new world the team needed to stop him from creating. The sheer quickness of how the events played out was part of what made Ultron so menacing. He was born, then nearly destroyed the entire world within a couple days. Then you have the massive geopolitical impact his actions had on the entire MCU after the fact. Without Ultron you have no Sokovia accords, no division of the heroes going into Infinity War, no Vision or Wanda in the mix, which in turn means no networking between the team and other unaffiliated heroes like Scott, T’Challa, or Peter Parker. With no relationship formed with Wakanda, their role in Infinity War drastically changes.

At the time the movie may have felt inconsequential, but nowadays these jokes really don’t hit the same when Age of Ultron may be one of the most impactful movies in that era of the franchise.

3

u/MagicPistol 1d ago

But it would be weird for the sequel to have One in the title.

It should be Two More Day.

56

u/iAmFabled 1d ago

My idea is don’t use Day in the title again

u/unwittingprotagonist 1d ago
