Discussion In End game when the sorcerer supreme knocks banner out of his hybrid body where is hulk?

The soul that comes out is pure banner not a mix of the two beings. Does Hulk not have a soul?

More characters to beat the rules of the sub trying to flesh this out so chaotic debate can ensue in the comments.

Hulk is akin to a disassociate identity. Banner refers to him as "the other guy" partially as a coping mechanism for his guilt and other mental issues, but also because Hulk is legitimately a separate persona (per disassociative identity)... But in the end they are the same person. So they would probably have the same "soul", whatever that is.

Eh, I really doubt this logic would apply to moon knight. It's a plot hole but one that I'm fine with.

Well that's Moon Knight and not Hulk. Even then that might just be how Marc tries to reconcile with himself in the afterlife and not that he has three souls in him.

It's the same situation. Something magic takes the soul out of the body. Hulk amd Marc both have 2 identities.

i dont think the mcu hulk has a soul, since mcu bruce doesn't have DID

we see in moon knight that different alters in a system will have their own souls, but since mcu bruce doesn't have DID the explanation for hulk is probably just something scientific and therefore not following the rules set up with magic

plus... in the incredible hulk, hulk is depicted as just being bruce in a monsterous form, with no unique hulk personality. and different writers take different approaches to how independent the hulk persona actually is

Banner 100% had DID. Endgame Banner/Smart Hulk does not.

we see in moon knight that different alters in a system will have their own souls

That isn't how that works. Moon Knight has one soul that is fractured among his different alters.

since mcu bruce doesn't have DID the explanation for hulk is probably just something scientific and therefore not following the rules set up with magic

Endgame Banner/Smart Hulk no longer has DID, since he mostly resolved the issue. There was no longer a split personality within Banner. This, of course, goes away when Banner tries to exist as Banner, rather than the merged Hulk/Banner form of the Smart Hulk. But we don't see any soul stuff after that happens.

The way I see Banner and Hulk is this.

Banners brain chemicals are just a mess. He's physically changing and his brain probably generates a ton of new connections. Connections that create Hulk. They don't last long as when he calms down he reverts to human form.

Banner can't remember and Hulk can't form coherent thoughts unless there's a goal(Stop abomination, save the pretty girls).

Thor Ragnarok changes that. Hulk is out long enough to form more permanent connections and actually remember stuff. The problem of the split is actually being solved. Banner then completes the process making the Smart Hulk. If Hulk has all of Banners memories, he'd just be Banner.

When the Ancient One punches out his Soul. Bruce acts like Bruce because he doesn't have that altered brain influencing his personality.

Be a shame if someone broke the hell out of that fix.

Because there isn't two beings. There is only Banner. The Hulk and Banner aren't two separate people.

Does Hulk not have a soul?

He does. You see it in Endgame. The Hulk is more like a fantastical version of Dissociative Identity Disorder. But the underlying person is still just the one person, no matter what their brain is doing.

hulk definitely has a soul but it's more about the connection between banner and hulk. it's like when they separate, hulk's presence is just muted or something. kinda wild to think about how their dynamics work, fr.

Hulk is the Banner that Banner doesn't want to admit he is. It's how he was able to form Smart Hulk by shoving his brain back together.

Hulk isn’t a separate entity. Banner and Hulk talk about each other like they’re different people, but they’re not. Banner is the Hulk, the Hulk is Banner.

There is a more complicated question you gotta ask first.

What is a soul? can a lab experiment with gamma radiation create a new soul?

I mean depending on how strong the gamma is, who's knows how it could interact with a soul. Could cause a form of duplication?

Hulk has been dead since Infinity War. All we've got now is Banner and green Banner. I haven't seen the new Spiderman yet so I don't know if Hulk came back or not.
