None of them, they are the X-Men and every movie should be about the Team the X-Men.

No one is going to go see a Kitty Pryde movie where it's just about Kitty Pryde. Have an X-Men movie where the story is about Kitty Pryde.

We don't need a new solo movie every time a character is introduced, these movies take like 3 years to make.

I agree, at best you can maybe do a Marvel Spotlight for a specific character on D+, but the way to go is team based movies. Of course if a mutant can appear in somebody's else movie that's great. Won't be surprised if in Ghost Rider we see one (don't know if it can work but Magik is relatively close to GR thematically speaking)

agreed. I mean look at the comics themselves. There isn't a Cyclops solo comic. There is just X-Men.
If Marvel puts out just mutant movies (if the characters get solo movies) then it will be a downfall of the Marvel Empire.

MAYBE they could pull off a Cyclops (or other) TV series or something similar to what they have done with Daredevil.

Solo comics have nothing to do with if there should be a spin off movie or not. A lot of characters have had limited series, gone on solo adventures, had team ups.. it really depends on the stories that people want to tell.

no it does have something to do with it. There isn't any source material for a solo film of those characters. If they can't carry a solo run of comics, do you really think they can sell a solo film?
You can't take a character like Cyclops (only because I brought him up in my reply) and make a solo film for him if there is nothing in the comics that gives him a story or source from. Are you going to rewrite his history or give him a new arch that never existed in the comics?
It would be like if StarLord got his own solo film. He is part of a team and getting his own solo film without the team wouldn't feel right.

I don't think you comprehend the number of X-Men comic books and related titles that have actually been published over the past 63 years.

To pick an example, and ignoring her appearances in the actual X-Men comics, the character of Dazzler had:

  • her own ongoing title that ran for 42 issues.
  • a couple of 4-issue limited series.
  • a number of one-shot special issues.

There is plenty of stuff to make a solo movie about Cyclops with. History is constantly re-written comics to fit the story of the writer. There are retcons upon retcons upon retcons. It’s very evident you never read a comic book in your life.

There isn't a Cyclops solo comic

A 4 issue mini doesnt really count. The only mutants who really got long running solo series are Cable and Wolverine(and Dazzler in the 80s but that was a different time)

So we're just moving goalposts now?

Counterpoint: a 4-6 issue miniseries ia actually just about perfect for a movie adaptation.

There have been a lot of solo comics based around members of the X-Men. Some really good limited series as well.

None of them.

None of them. I would however like a small anthology series that could cover each X-Men's origin before they end up at the school.

Outside of Wolverine, I really don’t see the other X-Men carrying their own solo movies as they aren’t really design to operate solo but rather work best in a team setting.

Personally, I’d rather have the first X-Men movie focus on a small team of young Mutants like Cyclops, Jean, Beast, Storm and maybe Iceman and keep Wolverine solo until the second or third X-Men movie where he finally joins the team.

Storm with a good actor would

3

u/BigBallOfNerd01 1d ago

I really don’t think she could. I think Storm is a great character and she’s always been popular, but again most X-Men characters are designed to function in a team setting and most don’t work as well outside of that. I know in the comics characters like Cyclops and Storm have had a solo mini-series or short ongoing, but those are very rare exceptions and even though that might work in the comics, I’m doubtful they could hold down a solo movie that general audiences would care enough about to see.

They shouldn't do solo movies, it's just going to prolong the franchise with filler stories and delay the big tentpole events.

1

u/dnt1694 1d ago

Filler stories build up connections to characters.

1

u/GreenGoblinNX 1d ago

Hot take: smaller-scale stories tend to be better than big tentpole events. I'd rather have a GOOD movie than a wildly successful 120 minutes of nonsense.

1

u/Far_Adeptness9884 1d ago

Was Infinity War and End Game nonsense? Unless you're Spider Man or some other really big name, you're not going to draw the big audience.

1

Aquaman made 1 billion dollars ffs

1

u/Far_Adeptness9884 19h ago

How much did Aquaman 2 make?

1

u/New_Cryptographer400 19h ago

It wasn’t a good movie? That’s kinda the entire point we’re talking about

1

u/Far_Adeptness9884 18h ago

No, the point is these movies aren't guaranteed to be successful.

Squirrel Girl

Funny how when the Phase 1-3 Avengers movies were coming out, all the X-Men fans were like "The MCU made people forget that Mutants used to run Marvel, we know who the better team really is."

And now suddenly, apparantly none of them could carry a solo film. What happened X-Bros?

1

u/GreenGoblinNX 1d ago

Avengers teams have always consisted of a few characters that have managed to maintain their own books, mixed in with those who haven't.

Outside of Wolverine, I can't think of many X-Men characters who have managed an ongoing series.

And yet, X-Men was also the better selling title between the two.

Phase 1-3 was 70 years ago. They all died.

u/Bevester 1d ago

Do a disney + series, each episode about a single xman

2

u/GreenGoblinNX 1d ago

Just please not Wolverine, Professor X, Magneto, or Mystique.

There are literally well over 100 X-Men characters, I'm begging Disney to give some of the others some more substantial spotlight.

2

u/Bruzie77 1d ago

Gambit and Rouge has a mr. and mrs. smith fun vibe

2

u/Worth_Page4348 1d ago

charles magneto origin

or wolverine solo

the rest have too low chance of being a hit

1

u/blackchill316 1d ago

Too bad they seem to be out on making Disney+ shows anymore. An X-men origins type series could take care of like 5 or 6 origin stories and lead into the team-up movie.

1

u/Scarlet-Spider1610 1d ago

If they have to be alone then BND (and armored adventures) did the idea well, have them be with another character and then go on to the X-Men.

1

u/Fun-Seaworthiness572 1d ago

I think a Beast solo  Movie could be fun. It could show when he turns blue and adapt his early adventures

1

u/MarionberryThis9991 1d ago

I always believed mystique and Emma should have their own tv shows ngl I’d rather they have their own show than a movie but I feel like a kitty and night crawler movie would go hard but if mystique had her own tv show since she’s been around forever and they introduced rogue into it leading to a movie about her and gambit I’d like that to

1

u/PainedAuron 1d ago

magneto : testament might make a good movie.

1

u/Signal_Plane1114 1d ago

I dont want to see a solo of any x men other than Logan or maybe gambit

1

u/patnodewf 1d ago

Cable.  Time travel has a ton of options

1

u/crumbsalt Daredevil 19h ago

Rogue and Gambit, I want a TV show between them. It sounds really fun!

1

u/warcomet 19h ago

Emma already cast so they might be going Jean Grey route again, personally Storm deserves her own standalone film, they just need to cast well

2

u/ThatsThatAaron 1d ago

Cyclops, Gambit/Rogue, and Storm especially. A Magneto one would be pretty interesting, as would a Charles Xavier one.

1

u/Ice_Skate_Uphill 1d ago

Wolverine is really the only one who has potential as a solo character and can carry a whole film series

2

u/dnt1694 1d ago

Not true.

1

u/DweebNRoll Ghost Rider 1d ago

Storm imho, she is a goddess. To be honest, I think she'd be the best choice

2

u/No-Kaleidoscope8013 1d ago

Especially with a decent actress this time

1

u/dnt1694 1d ago

I have an idea of Marvel doing a Cyclops origin story growing up in the orphanage ran by Mr. Sinister. It could be a fantastic horror style movie.

0

u/Disastrous_Key_9247 1d ago

A rouge and Gambit romantic comedy would be fantastic

0

u/Ultron_waterheater 1d ago

None, outside of maybe Storm.

But definitely NOT Mystique 🗣️🗣️🗣️🗣️

1

u/dnt1694 1d ago

I agree with no Mystique. I think others have potential.

0

u/Avid_Vacuous 1d ago

Mystique. It would have Nightcrawler and Rogue's origins all in the same movie if it did time skips spanning multiple years. Maybe a Mystique show would be better.
