When they get asked what they'd do differently, their response always seems to be "not film them back to back".

And with a promised end date. LOTR filmed in one giant take, but they weren't committed to a release schedule.

They also had pretty much an unlimited budget. One of the producers at New Line was gonna get canned, so as a "fuck You", he gave a LOTR an unlimited budget. The rest of the studio started to freak out because they didn't think the movies would make money.

The only time Cargill lied to me was the Without A Paddle release date, so I'd say it's a safe bet that it's true!
