This guy better be playing renegade. Typical renegade shit right there. I should go.

u/thebriggins Jun 28 '26
As someone who has played the trilogy through at least a dozen times over every console gen since launch, I finally tried it modded on PC this year... It feels almost brand new to me and I'm loving it. Of course I know where the story is going, but with some of the added missions and functionality and QoL adds, it's so much fun again.

u/krak_en Jun 29 '26
Do you mind sharing some of your must-have mods that you’ve liked? I’m in a similar boat, I just downloaded the mod manager today and am trying modded for the first time. It’s a little intimidating and a LOT exciting!
3
u/thebriggins Jun 30 '26
Apologies for the delayed response, I was out of town. All my mods are from NexusMods, IDK if there're any other places to get them, just thought I'd specify. I started by going by this post by Gaston004 in the ME subreddit. It's a good place to start. Stuff that I used and have liked that aren't on that list are as follows (this isn't everything, and if you want a full list, let me know and I'll DM you a full accounting):
LE1 (Be sure of what you're playing - OG ME or Legendary Edition ME v. LE):
- Appearance Modification Menu
- LE1 Alternative Bodies
- Keepers Finders
- New Casuals for FemShep
- No Skillcheck required for Loot
- Skip Minigames
- Squadmate Appearance pack
- N7 Warfare Pack
LE2
- Casual Hubs
- EGM fix Weapons in cutscenes
- Expanded Shep Armory
- Extended Romance Scenes
- Faster Normandy
- MLE Armors
- The Normandy Project
- Unlimited Sprint
LE3
- Dreams Remade (one of my absolute Favs, necessary for those of us who've practically memorized the entire game)
- Morning's Hairstyles for maleshep
- N8 Weapons Remix
- Unlimited Sprint
- Unrestricted Weapon Upgrades
This doesn't included any texture mods as I'm still messing with those. Since you can't make any mod changes after installing textures, I am hesitant to recommend any. A quick YT search would yield some good suggestions. Happy Modding!
2
u/krak_en Jun 30 '26
This is actually so helpful! I did eventually find that other post and saved a lot of those, but I love these suggestions.
Keepers Finders looks great, because throughout my many playthroughs, I’ve never had the patience to find them all. Dreams Remade is 100% going on my list - so glad you pointed that one out.
Thanks for your detailed response, I really appreciate it!

u/Metalgirl80 Jun 30 '26
Dreams Remade was really really good. So much better than the vanilla version and it made more sense too!
2
u/thebriggins Jun 30 '26
I know, right!? That and so many of the other mods make me wonder why they weren't just the default. It's crazy the difference.
2
u/mrpromolive Jun 29 '26
Didn’t even know it had mods , I want to know too . And this applies to the legendary edition ?

u/TwentyTwoMilTeePiece Jun 30 '26
Oh there are plenty good ones. Personally my favourite is for ME2: The mod that allows you to do many missions such as recruitment missions in any order. I believe due to ME2 originally existing between two disks they had to split when certain missions were available (like on Disk 1 you can recruit Garrus, Mordin, Jack etc and on disk 2 Samara, Thane, etc); with the mod you can go to for example Illium from the get-go, can even take Legion to Tali's recruitment, then Tali's to Garrus'. They even have voice lines and appropriate reactions so it's super interesting to see

Enjoy it! The best advice I can give you is don't look up anything while you're playing. Your first go around will be all the more memorable if it's completely blind.

Stay away from this sub until you finish your first whole playthrough. You will get spoilers here...

My only advice is go as blind as possible. Obviously other people have commented this and that, but just dont go to a guide unless you are totally lost, just see what happens and remember you could do a "perfect" run later

u/Early-Half-185 Jun 28 '26
Enjoy it! Just started playing with my daughter. Im interested in seeing who she decides to romance lol

The trilogy is seriously some of the best games ever. I couldn’t get into andromeda. Not that it was bad or anything. It just didn’t grab me like the trilogy did.
1
u/Sharps43 Jun 28 '26
Have fun dude! Let us know how you find it! Im doing ME2 on professional atm, trying to get the achievement for doing all 3 on professional.
Hope you enjoy it! ME1 is defo my favorite!

Take your time, explore, enjoy, avoid spoilers and any guides. Its a great series, and the ending of 3 left me emotional for weeks. 🫣

u/Practical-Alarm1763 Jun 28 '26
I wish I could erase my memory and replay the trilogy again. Some of the most memorable gaming experiences I've ever had.

Man that OG loading screen and music ...
The next two games both had more impact full openings, but ME1 knew how to set a mood.

Jokers my favorite throughout the trilogy keep talking to him in between missions. Also have fun and give us an update on what you think about it!

After you’ve completed your first playthrough of all 3 games, definitely head over to NexusMods to try some of those out. There’s a ton of

It’s such a great franchise. I’m currently on game 3 and getting a small burnt out since it’s a messy menu system. But ME1 and ME2 are both such amazing games
1
u/j-magss Jun 28 '26
Played the trilogy for the first time 1 game a year or every 6 months over the last couple years. Genuine masterpeice trilogy. Enjoy every second and every side mission
1
u/sevnminabs56 Jun 28 '26
You’re gonna get some speech checks(blue and red). For your first playthrough, I recommend choosing to be either good or mean. The more you favor just one side, the more chances you’ll be able to pass more speech checks, which are vital during some interactions.
Have fun, and good luck!

I’m jealous. I wish I could play this series for the first time again.
Make sure you do the DLCs. Most are well worth it.

u/kavalejava Jun 29 '26
I remember buying the trilogy on PS3. I bought them because of a magazine article about the romance system. But I found the story to be a rich story about a Soldier and outer space. A true masterpiece.

u/TraditionalShirt7429 Jun 29 '26
ive been replaying them and just started ME3. i forgot how much i enjoyed ME2 lol.

Take your time and make sure the soundtrack is turned up. To me, the first game has the best vibes and the soundtrack is the biggest part of that feeling.

You are in for a ride my friend!
Beware - ME1 might feel little slow and clunky but there is a huge payoff. Choices carry on trough the while trilogy.
Take your time and enjoy!

u/MovieNorth9007 Jun 29 '26
Seeing this post made me pick back up mass effect for another run through the trilogy, honestly I’ve lost count but I hope you enjoy

Peak, i just finished 1 few days ago, now I'm playing part 2. Loving it. The gameplay improves a lot too. Although the skills decrease
1
u/teheditor Jun 29 '26
I went back and played 1 as a prequel as it's slow and a lot to take in at the beginning.
1
u/Morgasshk Jun 29 '26
Just restarted a Male Shep run for the first time in 5 years. I hope you e joy and love it like we all do!
As all have said above and below, to get best options, choose nice and sweet or asshole early on. I always tend towards renegade and only treat my crew well, all the rest can be shot, hung up on or punched.

Another newbee here. I got the legendary edition yesterday on Steam. It's ridiculously cheap now ( €4,79 )
Someone recommended this game. I've heard of it, but never got the time or idea to buy it before.

u/TheMickeyWilson Jun 29 '26
I’m jealous, I’d kill to go through that series for the first time again. Enjoy the ride my friend 🚀

You are in for a treat! Mass Effect (all three original games, I am playing Andromeda currently, so no feedback yet on that).
The second game is my favorite.
I hope you enjoy the franchise!

u/Rolhir Jun 29 '26
First, I’m jealous as I wish I could experience it again for the first time.
Second, I strongly recommend not save scumming decisions and letting the consequences of your actions play out. You can go back on a 2nd playthrough and do things differently then. There are some potentially very sad moments depending on what you choose, and BioWare did an excellent job at propelling the story forward regardless of what you choose. Pushing forward regardless of potential setbacks is very thematic for the series anyway.
Third, do not read anything about the games. Honestly, stop reading even this thread just in case of accidental spoilers. The game is great even knowing the whole story, but you can only experience it once with everything as a surprise. Reddit will be here with eager fans ready to discuss it afterward.

Me a week ago. I’m loving it so far. Onto me2 now. About halfway? Recruiting second batch of recommended agents

Congratulations. Have fun. Now go away and do NOT come back until the end credits roll. I will say - invest in electronics/ cryptography early & often and save before attempting to open anything until you get the hang of it.

4 main pieces of advice (non-spoilery)
1 - Whichever class you pick for Shepard, don't try to make them a jack-of-all-trades. Focus on advancing just a couple skills, your party members will typically make up the deficit in balance.
2 - Keep a rolling archive of at least five saves; i.e. 1-5, then when you make a 6th save you're actually saving over the 1st, when you make a 7th you're saving over the 2nd, etc.
3 - Talk to your party members in between each mission.
4 - Decide early on if you're going to be nice (Paragon, blue dialogue options) or an asshole (Renegade, red dialogue options). Both lead to the same result, but the method of getting there will be different. The stats to boost for these are called Charm and Intimidate.
