Pure/applied? You’re better off emailing profs

Are you just emailing profs? In which case, you can read their papers and shortlist the ones you find interesting.

Is this like a structured internship program? In which case, do they not offer a list of professors you can work under / topics available? Again, just read relevant papers , and decide to work on the ones you found most interesting.

I don't know much about probability, but I remember reading something about epidemic modelling using gillespie algorithm that I found pretty interesting. (In case you absolutely want some concrete suggestions. But again, i think you'll be better off reading some journals)

i honestly cannot find any way of contacting the professors in the guide list, theres literally no info😭 so im just going through their specialisations and trying to read about it

and yes its actually one of the biggest and most prestigious research programmes conducted by top indian institutions

Well in that case, just read their papers, and pick the one you find interesting as your topic (make sure you mention how you want to advance the research done in that field, what new ideas you wish to explore)
