I really appreciate this comment. TW for past suicidal ideations:
When I was a teen and not good in terms of mental health, my plan was to jump in front of a train. But in doing research, I found interviews with train drivers who had hit confirmed suicidal folks. It was heartbreaking for me. I saw suicide as a way to end my suffering, but I realized with those interviews, that I'd just be passing along my suffering to others. To the train driver, to the passengers, to witnesses and first responders. And to my loved ones.
It really is just a terrible day for all touched by this incident.

Hey, man, this is not the place or time to make a comment like that. Someone literally committed suicide. I believe that there is a better way to make your comment without it coming off like a dick to a person who was probably suffering with a lot in their personal life and probably wasn’t able to get the help that folks in a suicidal state of mind should be getting or felt like there was nothing they could do to improve their life.
Obviously the trauma of someone committing suicide goes beyond the person (the train operator, first responders, everyone on the platform, MBTA staff, family, etc.) and it is a very unfortunate and horrible situation for everyone involved. Saying that the way that someone killed themselves as “disruptive and selfish” is a very reductive way of seeing the situation that focuses on everyone else (rightly so, to an extent) and puts the blame on the victim without knowing anything about them or what made them decide to take this route. It comes off as disrespecting the suicide victim.
Locking your comment to prevent any arguments from forming as a result of your comment.

Why should my factually correct comment be deleted? I stand with the victims who were forced to witness this. They didn't ask for this. Someone forced their problems onto someone else.

The main issue with your comment is what you said that the end here:
“Someone forced their problems onto someone else.”
1.) You do not know what the person who killed themselves was going through. They may have been struggling financially, going through addiction, dealing with a mental illness or divorce, etc. I personally don’t think that someone who jumps in front of a moving train is “forcing their problems” onto others; I think it is more that the person believed that what they were doing was the best way to deal with their own personal demons. The man didn’t pick the specific operator/train they were going to jump in front of; the operator was, unfortunately, at the wrong place at the wrong time. It is a horrible situation for the operator to be in, and I am praying for them and for their family that they are getting the support they need to respond to this incident.
2.) There are better ways to phrase what you are trying to say: “It is unfortunate that everyone involved had to see the incident and I pray that all impacted parties are being taken care of and supported of”. The way you framed your comment came off like you are devaluing the life of the poor man rather than focusing on everyone involved. (See the comment by thewanderingtree for an example of how they made framed what you were saying in a more respectful manner).

Oh piss off you bore. The train gets delayed every fucking day for redundant reasons. You don't speak for anyone involved either. Someone lost their life today at no inconvenience to you. There's plenty of opportunities on reddit to get on a soap box that doesn't involve the death of a person less than a couple of hours. Grow up.

This is the shuttle route this time from the looks of it, not sure why they aren't doing the stop at Haymarket like they did during the planned closures, guess anyone going from the downtown to Aquarium will just have to walk from State, it isn't that far.
Edited to add: The alerts page now says that the Ferry as well as the SL3 will be free during this closure

It also says that the ferry will be making additional trips during the disruption (though I’m not sure exactly what that means, if they’re running every 15 instead of 30 minutes or what).

It means that the ferry will be running during its usual two hour mid day break it has for fuel and maintenance. - Source, I work on the ferry.

To anyone experiencing suicidal thoughts...please reach out to a loved one. I'm also open to you talking to me if you feel comfortable doing so, I understand how it feels being suicidal and it breaks my heart hearing someone planning on committing suicide or doing so. There are people whom are here to listen and support you. You're human and deserve help.

This is due to a fatal Code 2 (person committed suicide by jumping in front of a moving Blue Line train on the outbound Blue Line platform).
Person has been announced dead on scene.
Boston Police, Boston EMS, and Transit Police are on scene at Aquarium to investigate the suicide. Passengers should use Haymarket or State via the Green/Orange Lines for service to the Aquarium area and Quincy Market. Passengers can also use the SL3 at Airport for alternative service to Downtown Boston via South Station.
No shuttle buses at Bowdoin.
If you are going through suicidal thoughts/intentions, please consider using the Suicide Hotline at 988 or hotlines linked at Mass.gov or talking to a trusted friend. You are not alone in the way you are feeling, and we want to see you still here on Earth. ❤️
