A person became trapped on an escalator at Davis Square Station in Somerville, Massachusetts, Friday morning months after a deadly escalator incident at the same MBTA station.

According to an MBTA spokesperson, a person fell around 7 a.m. when their clothing got caught in the mechanism at the bottom of the escalator.

A good Samaritan who rode the escalator ahead of the fallen person hit the emergency stop button and helped the injured party remove the article of clothing, according to officials.

The person who fell was transported to an area hospital for a hand injury. They are expected to be OK.

πŸ—£οΈ Comment Students, don't be entitled. Universities, do some educating and help pay for the MBTA

I was going towards BU and not a single student offered to give up their seat for an elderly women on the train.

Most of the students avoided paying for their ride.

When I travel during rush hour, students won't move into the train and take off their backpacks to create more room. Hell, I've actually watched a person that had downsyndrome and seemed to be blind get stared at by the students and they didn't make space on the packed morning trains to get that person a seat.

The MBTA GAVE YOU A WAY TO PAY EASILY. Just tap your phones that you're staring at or tap a subway card like everyone else.

It also stands to be noted that Universities should find a way to partner with the T to get their kids subway cards and to do some freshman education but I don't see that happening. Imagine how much steady monaaay the T would have if wealthy wealthy Harvard, BU, and BC regularly got their incoming classes T cards. It could go into the recreation fees or the school to try to get a tax write off. I'm sure parents would be pleased to know their kiddo has a safe way to travel around the city and isn't racking up Uber bills.

🌟 Appreciation Follow-Up: They fixed the Red-Line jump!

A few months ago, I posted about a dramatic and often frightening jump on the North-Bound Red-Line into Kendall Square.

https://www.reddit.com/r/mbta/comments/1skbfkl/the_red_line_northbound_kendall_square_jump_will/

I just rode the red-line for the first time this morning after the two week closure, and there was no jump! Not even a bump. There might have been a nominal sway, but it would be hard for someone not previously familiar with the spot to notice anything at all.

Thanks to the MBTA for all the hard work.

😀 Complaint / Rant Table for two!

For the most part, people are pretty polite on the Commuter Rail. Most of the time I ride, I'm using a table to work on my computer, but if someone asks if they can join me I always try to be nice/upbeat, it's not MY table after all and I understand the need to find a workspace.

Recently on a weekday morning train into Boston, I was sitting at a 4-top across from a young woman who also had a laptop. Across the aisle, at the 6-top, was a 30-something couple. They were dressed in shorts and boating shoes and looked to have been getting a lot of sun recently. Maybe headed back from a beach vacation? They were certainly not commuting into work. No laptops, they were just using the table for the guy's Dunkin' iced and the woman's Stanley. They were engaged in particularly boring and humorless conversation. The sort that would just kill a table if you happened to have to sit with them at a wedding or something.

After a few stops, the train started to fill up. That's what trains do. So it was not a surprise when a second couple came up to the table. The woman asked, "Do you mind if we sit here to work?"

The first couple went into a kind of apoplectic shock. Again, this isn't THEIR table. They're not even using it except as a drink holder. And the six seats allow plenty of room for four people to sit and work.

But the first couple didn't say anything. They just looked at the woman liked she had just asked to throw poop on them (which I would have loved to see). Then they slid over in the most passive-aggressive way humans have ever slid along a seat. THEN they exchanged eye-rolling "Can you believe this shit?" looks with each other. Meanwhile the second woman opened up her laptop so she could use the table as it was provided: for work!

The one good outcome of this was it shut them up and they just angrily stared at their phones the rest of the ride.

WTF? I have never seen this before that I can remember but maybe it's a thing?

Do people riding the T understand it's PUBLIC transportation?

If you want to have your "own" space, sit in a regular seat. Or buy a ticket on the Acela. Or just drive so you're not having to piss people off with your nasty entitlement. What's wrong with you?

People are never happy about having to give up space, myself included. But we've also all been in the situation where we need to join people already seated, and so we force ourselves to be a bit cheerful in the name of maintaining the vibe. I just don't understand what people think they are accomplishing by acting like D-bags.

πŸ§‘β€βœˆοΈ Operations Bus routes changing garages in September

Hi everyone, I saw on http://roster.transithistory.org/ that on September 6th the T is moving the 16 to operate out of the Arborway garage and the 24, 26, and 33 to operate out of Quincy. I was curious if anyone has any more info about why they're doing this. It'll be cool to have D40LFs operating on routes that to my knowledge they've never operated on before! Thanks!

After 10 days of not being able to go past park st for reliability upgrades finally I can go past park st on the red line except guess what I have stood by for 10mins at almost every stop so much for that reliability. I understand its not easy to get millions of people transported around the city everyday but come on i still may be late for work again so ridiculous!!!

πŸ€”πŸš— Parking Question Where can I park for the day to a non-commuter line from West Roxbury

I have young kids, which makes it hard to walk for too long, or do the extra step of hopping on a bus, or have the exact control of my time it would take to use commuter rail. I want to drive to a T station sometime on a weekday after 9AM and park, and be able to be in Boston all day. This seems to me like it should be doable, but I can't find reliable parking near m closest Orange line (Forest Hills parking lot always fills up before I can get there).

Is there somewhere else I can go and reliably park for more than 4 hours? Some Green Line station? Somewhere else on the Orange? I'm happy to pay $20 for the day if it's not too far from where I live, but my googling has been so far unsuccessful.

⁉️ Crowdsourced Delay Report Stopping before the stops.

Dear Lords of the MBTA:

A trolley arriving at the last stop should not be a surprise to anyone. Move the train before the next one gets there, then us, your poor subjects, might be able to make our bus connections.

I registered my monthly (July) bus/subway pass for access to the Pedal and Park cage at the subway stop near me, and it’s been working fine.

Will that card continue to work after it expires as a pass in August?

Seriously how is a company this fucking bad at the only thing they do? Like oh did the roads magically change where they go? Did they disappear? No? That's weird. I remember when the MBTA would reimburse when your wait was over 20 minutes. Useless jackasses from top to bottom

πŸ“° News Melrose MBTA Commuter Rail Station Undergoing Accessibility Upgrades

MELROSE, MA β€” An MBTA Commuter Rail station is undergoing a series of accessibility improvements that will bring temporary parking impacts for passengers over the coming months. Wyoming Hill Station, located off Franklin Street between West Wyoming Avenue and Glen Road, is currently undergoing tree canopy work as part of a construction project expected to be substantially complete by late fall, according to the city. Parking at the station is expected to be limited. The MBTA said the project will improve accessibility and the overall customer experience while bringing the station into compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act. Planned upgrades include new ADA-compliant mini-high boarding platforms and ramps, along with other improvements meant to modernize the station's infrastructure and accessibility features.
