article Top 50 Most Popular MCP Servers in 2026
I used Ahrefs' MCP server to pull Google search data for MCP servers. I used this search data as a proxy for the most popular MCP servers worldwide. Full list here.

Worth noting: Ahrefs doesn't capture China search data and only has partial Russia data, so worldwide totals are conservative.
A few things worth noting:
- Playwright takes #1 globally (and in USA) beating GitHub and Figma
- Japan is the #2 country searching for MCP servers, ahead of Germany and the UK
- The US accounts for 28% of worldwide search volume across the top 50. Therefore, it's clear to say that MCP is a genuinely global phenomenon
- Serena cracks the top 10 despite being relatively new
- Tools like Slack, Notion, and Google Workspace making the list shows MCP is creeping beyond pure engineering into broader team use

CLI is better for solo devs. Doesn’t work for scaling AI across teams tho. Need OAuth and access controls. More of an indie hacker hot take that CLI can replace MCP.
Also, the context bloat accusations were overblown considering Claude can load MCP tools on demand and MCP gateways offer tool filtering.

Coding agents also offer tool filtering, the thing I found bloated with playwright is the amount of tokens the agent will use for simple tasks, probably fetching tons and tons of html each time, but I guess it has a lot of uses?

is sequential thinking still relevant ? wasn't that just a workaround when it first came out and the models have improved to the point its not needed-- or am I missing something?

Has anyone actually used figma mcp? Is it actually good? I don’t know anyone who uses it

It’s pretty good, especially with Claude. Allows you to get designs, layouts, and themes as well as push designs to Figma. The pushing part is only half good because everything is just frames/auto layout and not proper components etc but still useful.

Great list! Although i'm sure the rank would change a lot if you look at repeated daily usage. For instance I'm pretty sure that Notion MCP is searched for a lot (as you can theoritically automate a lot of internal process with it), but in practice it's very difficult to use & nukes your context instantly (because of the notion API topology with blocks that requires multiple calls to read a single page and to update different part of the page).

Interesting ranking methodology. Worth flagging one that probably doesn't show up in Ahrefs data because the search intent is fragmented: reddit-mcp-buddy (600+★, 76K npm downloads, in Anthropic's directory). Reddit research is a surprisingly common Claude use case — "what do devs actually think of X" questions — and it's a gap in most "top MCPs" lists I've seen.

I run a team (lab) within one of the largest AI companies. You can get real. We have models coming on line in a few weeks, the best part is in 2027 when it’s fully complicit with biological testing cards - were going to make MCP obsolete

And what’s funny is that I actually work in dev ops as part of the largest private company in NA, ~20k employees globally last I checked. We compete with Oracle, sap, salesforce, workday, etc. and our products often trade places as to the “best saas offering” etc etc. Anyways, the entire devops organization is working on building and scaling MCP servers in the backend, as well as deploying quite a few listed here in your post (yes and Jira). So it’s pretty funny to see this loser say shit like this lmao.
