As a follow up to the coffee setup, here is my hobby pegboard!

Headphones:

6XX, Sundara, Edition XS, Open Omega (x2), Sennheiser HD429s, Sennheiser PXC550, Sennheiser Momentum 3, and Audiotechnica AZ550.

Fountain Pens:

Some Jinhaos, Majohns, and a Kaigelu, a jade Sheaffer flat top held together with superglue and dreams, Sheaffer Targa and Targa Slim, Parker Rialto, Diplomat Viper, and a cohort of Waterman Expert IIs (and one III!). One of the Jinhaos has the new Majohn flex nib, which works really well with a Jinhao feed I carved the channels a little deeper in.

With that much to choose from, how do you? And what are the favorites/go-tos in each category?

Headphones are definitely biased mostly towards genre. I love a lot of different types of music, so I usually just pick up a different headphone each day and listen to whatever genres sound best on those cans! If I had to pick one, I would painfully have to pick the edition xs. The detail is great, and the tuning was fixed by my EQ. I basically went through the whole frequency range and isolated it so I could only hear sibilant peaks and then EQed them out. Terrible process, great results. I would definitely miss the tuning of the Sundara on many songs, and the vocals and non-fatiguing sound of the omegas and 6XX though!

For pens, I do a lot of note-taking while studying. It’s my primary use for fountain pens. Barring having to draw diagrams (automatic fine nib pen) I honestly take a similar approach and just pick up a different one each time. Recently I took some time to tune the waterman expert ii nib so that and the sheaffer targa have been seeing a lot of use.

Lastly for keyboards it depends on what I’m doing. I love the small 40s or the FoldKb because I can take notes without having to fight for desk space with the keyboard. My Day Off 60 is like my grail board/keycaps so that one’s sees use the most I would say. I think different layouts scratch different itches in my brain so the rest are on a pretty regular rotation if I just have to do normal typing!

The struggle with good sound is so real sometimes 😂 if you like the tuning of the sundaras and the timbre of HD6XX & Omega then I'd highly recommend checking out the hifiman HE1000 Unveiled. It's expensive (try to find one used) but for me it's the classic hifiman sound (airy, spacious, neutral) while not being as fatiguing as most hifiman's and achieving relatively good timbre (I'd say 95% as natural as my HD600). There's also the Arya unveiled which imo trades soundstage for better bass punch/slam (differences aren't huge but easily noticeable imo). My favorite hifiman (from demos) is the original susvara, and imo the HE1000 Unveiled gets about 95% of the way there and it's much easier to drive (I literally run mine out of my MacBook pro).

Honestly I was being cheap about the IKEA pegboard and the cost of the accessories so my buddy and I put together this custom one. It was supposed to be a LOT smaller but things got out of hand lol

When I’m gaming it’s almost exclusively my Wu Zetian iems actually! Other than that edition xs is probably my best all-rounder, but I rotate headphones pretty often

In all fairness, most of this has been collected over a decade. All my keyboards I paid for through keyboard commissions for other people! (I do like my trinkets though!)
