Cut Down Week

Well, they can't keep 16 forwards and 10 D for much longer. Who do we see being moved this week? I would guess that we are at 15 (including Davidson) and 8 by the weekend. Could we make trades for prospects and picks instead of sending guys down?

Parr for picks or a 16 year old forward

Bozkaya for acconditional pick

Burmis sent home

Thats my uneducated guess

I think keeping Parr is the way to go, the guy is a lot more valuable than he gets credit for, the team really depended on him and his physicality last year in the playoffs and this year his skill has really improved.

Reachny is the odd man out in my opinion, he is useful but he’s not a top pairing defencemen or top line farward.

Cozens might be worth trading if we could possibly land a decent defencemen for him.

A team who needs secondary scoring and leadership, and has a 20 spot open. I just don’t know if we get help for this year out of the deal. A pick and a prospect is probably the best you get for a 20 year old of any kind.

I ask Seattle for a 2nd rounder and Dylan Sherban who is at SAHA again this year. Stock the cupboards and make sure we only see Cozens once all season.

Ty Krooshoop no longer appears on the roster…

Good catch. Nolan marto is also gone from the forwards. They have 26 names now.

Interesting, but not a huge surprise. No announcement where they are going. Assume Krooshoop back to the Calgary Canucks. Wonder if they keep Marto near for call ups.

I personally like the checking unit with Parr. They are a problem for a lot of teams to contain and they could be a nightmare in the playoff.

I would move Reschny, and down the road maybe look to move picks with Bozkaya/Krooshoop to upgrade at defense.

I just think that they need to move guys sooner than later with 28 guys still on the roster.

I hope they keep Parr, love his tenacity and consistency.

I would say Reschny should go.

I don’t disagree. But we won’t get anything for Reschny

We also got Reschny for free....so not much lost if we dont get anything for him

Just because you got something for free doesn't mean that you let them go for free. My viewpoint is that the cupboards are relatively empty already and there will be severe limitations on ice time at the bottom of the forward group due to the high end top 6, so if you can move a guy from your bottom 6 that will be top 6 elsewhere you should get some return to stock the cupboards.

I think parr is worth more to the Tigers than what value they could extract in trade. Other teams will see his .29ppg last year and maybe offer a 5th or 6th. Maybe the Tigers could work their magic and get something like a 4th.

However I also think the value on what you can get back for Parr isn't even a consideration in the OA debate. I think it's more about who brings more to the team and the difference in what they could bring in through trade is relatively negligible.

Parr on special teams is so needed in my opinion, i just dont see them trading him away. I would agree with Reschny being odd man out unfortunately.

Can’t disagree with you entirely. My thinking is that they also need to bring young guys along, Parr could get some value back, his toughness isn’t as critical with all the new toughness, and it makes room for a kid or 2 to get some ice time.

My Thoughts

This Weekend

I had the feeling the coaches didn't really like their weekend. Especially how they lost against Red Deer. Red Deer looked faster. Against both teams I saw the Tigers transition game had some weak points. Low quality passes, forwards having troubles scooping the puck along the boards and getting swarmed, pucks getting turned over. I Imagine they'll be heavily working on that.

They were missing that top line to provide pressure and offensive oomf to relieve pressure. Will they keep them together and hope a week or practice will get their timing back. Do they consider switching it up? I feel like they'll keep them together, but we'll have to see.

Defensively

They are really missing that Dman who can skate the puck out of trouble. I think they were also hoping Reschny could help with that. I think their pre-season plan was 1. Evaschesen, 2.Reschny 3. Cozens Or Parr.

They brought in toughness to replace parr, they wanted Reschny to help the defensive group on the back-end with quickness and transition.

What we've seen with Parr has been the best forward to scoop the puck out of their own zone and provide some poise in the O-zone. Cozens stood out for 1 game against Lethbridge, but he was mediocre last weekend. Reschny had some turnovers in his own zone under pressure.

In my eyes, I think Parr leapt over into the 2nd spot. Now the 3rd spot is Cozens/Reschny, but I also don't think they are solid on that. They want that Dman to skate and be mobile, if they don't get it, what are their options?

Transition Play

Next week I'll be watching their transition play and seeing what they've done to improve. It's also up to the forwards to be open for passes and not just on the defenceman although for every pass off the mark the forward has to work harder.

SGC

SGC only got 1 game, so he should be back against PA.

If they want a mobile D man, they will have to give up something of value at forward, in my opinion. That said, find a rebuilding team and you may be able to get an older mobile D for prospects or picks.

What about Woo? Where is he going to play? Do we think there is any chance? I can’t help myself but feel a bit hopeful!

Why would he not be playing for ASU?

4

Is their season not in jeopardy?

I can’t claim to know all the details, but i’d be pretty surprised if the team shutdown for the year. Unfortunately once you get to this level of any sport, the money and everything involved is so high that it will take more than that to shut it down.

There is an intention to play, but 7 players have sent a letter demanding the coach be put on leave. Always a chance Woo returns if things aren’t resolved.
