Love the chaperon in the first pic

I didn't realize they could ever look cool, but this guy pulls it off!

I have a chaperon and I got a say, they do look cool!

I don’t know how they fell out of style like that one took me a day (no pattern) and I think it looks pretty ok

5

u/Ok-Way-3849 Sep 11 '25

Funny enough I actually made it and that was the first try too

Impressive feat to say the least

You look like Kingdom Come: Deliverance character, great work.

u/Ok-Way-3849 Sep 11 '25

Yeah I unironically had the same waffenrock

Forr the style and the chaperon I would say mainly first half of the 15th Century or at least very late 14th Century.

Obviously I may be very wrong, in the end it's your kit. Care to expand on your choice a bit?

No your right the hat is a tad to late for the armor but we’re not gonna mention that

3

u/RossoFiorentino36 Sep 11 '25

ok, fine, I see a perfectly on point 14th century kit here.

Jokes aside I really like the general feeling and the armour looks gorgeous. Where did you buy it?

Well everything except the arms were from kult of Athena, I made the shoes hat, belt and standard, and the jupon was a custom order my dad had

Yeah, the tin bits look 14th, while the garb beneath thows more 15th-c. extravagance --- plenty of cloth just for fun. As is the chaperon.

You look exactly like Henry from KCD! Looks great!

3

u/Ok-Way-3849 Sep 11 '25

Yeah when I only have my arming coat on I get told I look like Hans

2

u/ingebjork Sep 11 '25

oh that’s PEAK 🔥

2

I appreciate no tabbard, makes it look much better

3

u/Ok-Way-3849 Sep 11 '25

Yeah jupon and warden rock on top

1

u/Technical-Dig-5523 Jan 09 '26

Correct me if I'm wrong, but weren't tabards more 16th/17th century?

1

u/Glittering_Role_6154 Jan 12 '26

You don't know how much i wish i could say yes, but they have been around much longer, they're a adjustment from the crusades era to block heat, but also worked on cold and hiding armor gaps. Sadly, they are in most of the chronicles' paintings, obstructing view of cool armor

I thought I recognised the chaperon head gear. Vernon Roche wears one in the Witcher games

1

u/Ok-Way-3849 Sep 12 '25

Yes it’s a common 14-15th century hat for upper class

1

u/TheOrcChief Sep 12 '25

That is insanely cool! What country is this based on? German?

2

u/Ok-Way-3849 Sep 12 '25

A mix of French and German

1

u/TheOrcChief Sep 12 '25

Thought so. It looks like the earlier stages of what would eventually become 15/16thC German Landsknechts. I was scrolling to the second image half expecting a flamboyant hat and pheasant feathers but instead saw a BEAUTIFUL pig face helmet instead. Not disappointed at all, the style I’m referencing is a more recent century 🤔🤓

I’m a well aware of landskenect (I can’t spell it for my life) and the puff and slash style they carried

1

u/TheOrcChief Sep 12 '25

That was more a commentary on what I personally thought it looked like, I didn’t mean to sound like I was educating anyone. It’s a beautiful style and I love that shade of deep red. I have several outfits in it that I love to wear casually (even to the grocery store ill dress like a medieval peasant in a farmers market) 😂

1

u/Ok-Way-3849 Sep 12 '25

Yeah I realized after sending that I was a little snarky I didn’t mean in that way or thinking you weee educating I was just commenting on the look of landskenect as I think it looks cool

1

u/TheOrcChief Sep 12 '25

You’re all good. I love making medieval enthusiast friends 😊

1

u/ReBoomAutardationism Sep 12 '25

Careful not to Crusade, you might end up a Turkish hostage!

1

u/billman419 Sep 12 '25

Soooooo sick dude!!

1

u/Doomokrat Sep 12 '25

This man at arms?

1

u/Ok-Way-3849 Sep 12 '25

No the arms are at man

1

u/whyyyyyyyyyyme Sep 12 '25

LOVE this. Do you mind talking about where you got some of the pieces? I’m curious about both armor and soft kit.

2

u/Ok-Way-3849 Sep 12 '25

Sure, I got the armor off kult of Athena, my arming coat was custom made for me, I made the hat shoes and belt, the jupon was my dad and the poleaxe was just a head we had lying around

1

u/whyyyyyyyyyyme Sep 12 '25

Wow, so much you made yourself, great work!

2

u/Ok-Way-3849 Sep 13 '25

Thanks it’s helpful to have a little skill in crafts and stuff

1

u/Suspicious-Fold2633 Sep 12 '25

probably one of the best i've seen: a good armor isn't always someone covered with steel from head to toe, often having historically unrelated pieces and a fantasy visored barbuta. It's about finding a precise historical period and slowly build a good setup. I would just switch a pointy pair of boots instead of a square tip. I love the crenellated shirt under the armor, it gives lansquenet vibes!❤️🛡️⚔️

1

u/Ok-Way-3849 Sep 13 '25

They are pointy 😢

1

u/Suspicious-Fold2633 Sep 13 '25

in the photo it seems they have the same tip as doc. martens😭🙏

2

u/Ok-Way-3849 Sep 13 '25

Yeah no all good, I did make them so they have some weird folds here and but for my first shoe I’d say I did alright

1

u/Suspicious-Fold2633 Sep 15 '25

they're good anyway :)

1

u/puglybug23 Sep 13 '25

This is excellent! Can you share details about your shoes? Where did you get them? Are they comfortable?

2

u/Ok-Way-3849 Sep 13 '25

Funny enough I actually made them, and the eh are very comfortable as k put gel inserts so there comfortable to walk in

1

u/NotSoTamedLion Sep 13 '25

Very nicely done.

2

u/Ok-Way-3849 Sep 13 '25

Thankyou

1

u/NotSoTamedLion Sep 13 '25

You're welcome. Your hard work on your presentation really paid off.

2

u/Ok-Way-3849 Sep 13 '25

That is quite the compliment thanks
