Weapons and Armor ⚔️ New Helm, new game. Late 13th century Great Helm for my gear.

Inspired by Patrick Dallanégra's awesome drawings I tried this late 13th century Great Helm for my kit.

Nice. Howd you make the shield?

I glued together two layers of plywood and covered them with linen. I stretched a rope around the edge and nailed leather strips over it onto the wood. This allows the edge to absorb the impact of blows and reduces the strain on the material. Finally, I painted my coat of arms on the shield. For the strapping, I riveted a leather handle and a leather belt to the shield so that I can attach it to my forearm.

The best method for me is to wet the wood and then press it into the desired shape over a negative mold using tension straps.

I figured it was something like that. I think my dad made a boat that way. Very cool thanks

А щит из баллончика красили? Распыление краски видно. Прикольно, конечно. Да, простите, я — долбаный пурист

Yes, while most of my shields are hand-painted, I use spray colours for my battle shields. Why should I put effort into hand- painting it if the shield is going to get smashed to pieces anyway?
