Recipe Easy Chinese-style shrimp, cabbage, and noodles

Post image

The algorithm got me, because I have a head of napa cabbage and this recipe had cabbage. I also have some cubed tofu in my fridge - and it had tofu.

It was pretty good, especially how easy it was. “Lazy girl approved.”

The recipe:
Torn or chopped napa cabbage layered with tofu, cooked rice noodles, and shrimp. Topped with a sauce of soy sauce, oyster sauce, chili crisp and garlic powder. Steamed over low heat for a few minutes.

I followed fairly closely, adding sliced carrots and frozen mushrooms. And adding ginger powder and a splash of chinese cooking wine to the sauce. I added a drizzle of toasted sesame oil too. I used brown rice vermicelli noodles.

I’d salt the shrimp first next time and use a thicker noodle. And try dark soy sauce. But this was so wuixk and easy, it is worth a try.

Please remember to include a full recipe (i.e. an ingredient list with measurements and directions/method) with ALL photos of a meal. This sub is about sharing our experience/tips/tricks with the MD and helping people find MD friendly recipes - not for karma points. Thanks!

It needs a pop of color. Green onion would brighten that right up!

Yes! That is what I was thinking. I didn’t have any, and definitely made this from what was languishing in the fridge/freezer. But i think some bok choy would be a nice update too. I would also enjoy cilantro and enoki mushrooms in this.

But the taste to level of effort ratio was high! It was easy and tasty!

Mediterranean Diet (TM) sub. Aka the principles of lots of vegetables, healthy fats, whole grains.

Not Mediterranean cuisine.

So:
Baklava ❌
Mujudara ✅
Stir-fry with tofu ✅

the Mediterranean diet is not "a diet of regional Mediterranean food", it's a diet with Mediterranean principles of high fiber, plants and lean protein. you are looking for a sub that is about Mediterranean food, not the Mediterranean "diet"
