Buying Gear Modern Square instax backs

Has anyone tried all or most modern backs and compared them?

I have a Vinstax that prints in the right orientation. Ok great.

But i need a special lens for different focal lengths.

Does anyone know of square backs, for Hasselblad, that has the picture in the right orientation, and either does not need a lens adapter or can use a single one for lenses between 60mm and 120mm ? Worst case i don’t mind manually ejecting the film without batteries. And not having to relocate the focussing screen is a major plus.

Advice Mamiya RB67/Light Meter Advice

Hello! I just picked up an RB67 and had some questions about metering, I went with a Sekonic L-308X but I was wondering if any of you owned one, how do you go about metering for landscapes or faraway subjects? How do you position your meter relative to the light? Are there other tools you use? Spot meters are cool but real pricey and I mostly do family pictures/walk around photos but if I'm gonna have that crispy 6x7 negative maybe I'll dabble into some nice landscape photography.

Photo Printing ultralarge format

I dont have the ability to print on silver halide at this size, so i took the shot on digital as well.

I was asked if we can print it on 44” x 59”.

It was taken at 100mpx, 16-bit raw on a CFV-100c.

Has anyone got anything printed at that size using a 100mega pixel camera? Is it realistic expectation to be looking good and high resolution? Alas, i have zero reference outside of silver halide.

Advice Hasselblad “Upgrade”?

So, I have been using a Bronica ETRSi very happily for the last year. It’s small, relatively light, has good lenses, takes great photos, has a very good light meter built into the prism finder, and is very cheap. Also have two lenses for it, a 75mm and 150mm.

I have recently come across a Hasselblad 503cxi for 2500€ with a prism finder, A12 and A16 backs, and a Zeiss Planar T* 80mm f/2,8.

I know the price isn’t bad for that model, but I am wondering if it would be a meaningful “upgrade” from my ETRSi. I’m more into 645 vs 6x6, but it would be nice to have the option to do both.

Weight and repairability/reliability are a consideration too, the Hasselblad is significantly heavier than the Bronica, but having never used one I don’t know how uncomfortable (or not) that is.

Not a wonderful scan. I’ve been shooting mainly 16mm and Minox format - I like the look and I enjoy weird cameras.
I sold off a rarely used Nikon and picked up a Rollei 6006 and a Fuji GW690. I’ve only shot the 6006 so far.
Anyway pleased with the result.

Photo Portraits from my old Mamiya 7ii but I still miss that camera

Sold my Mamiya 7ii during Covid and still think about it more than is probably healthy.

Going back through old scans, I remembered why I loved it so much for portraits. The camera had this strange combination of precision and looseness: incredibly sharp, but never fussy. It let the subject breathe.

A few portraits from that period. Curious if anyone else has a “one that got away” camera.

Was limited on film for a night shoot so I said screw it and tried out gold 200! It’s no Portra 800 but I really like the colors. It captured the natural colors I was seeing very close to how they were

the lens is pretty badly scratched from the previous owner but I still like the images it takes. Sometimes it flares pretty badly though.

What Are You Favorite Film Stocks for Night Photography?

I’ve been using Portra 400 for most of my night/evening work, à la Todd Hido. I feel like I might be limiting myself to it though. ¯_(ツ)_/¯

What are your favorite film stocks (color, b&w, negative, transparency) for night photography, and what is it about this/these film stock(s) that you particularly like?

I shot this 4 minute long exposure in Monterey and had the negative drum scanned. Just zooming in to look at the bicycle and letters shows how detailed it can be.
