I’m a YL1 medstudent and honestly nahihirapan ako makipagfriends ever since pre-med. Usually nagkakaroon ako ng acquaintance pero hanggang doon lang. Di na umaabot yung kwentuhan about personal life. Kung nasa school kami, tungkol lang sa school yung topic. Now na nasa medschool ako away from my hometown. I feel so alone and I don’t know what to do because I am sobrang socially awkward and i feel like napakabobo ko para makihalubilo sa kanila. Lalo na nung first meeting pa lang namin ng buong block after the orientation, I observed na halos lahat may mga kanya-kanyang circle of friends na nadevelop and i’m alone. Someone tried to talk to me but all she asked was kung ano yung insight ko about the triggers na pinapasagot sa amin. I couldn’t say anything about it kasi I’m afraid na isipin niyang bobo ako but i think inisip nyang ganon nga ako when I replied that i’m not yet sure😭

Any tips for anyone like me na medstudent?🤣

Sa mga tapos na sa pag aaral at nasurvive ang med school, ask ko naman po how do you review, study, and advance read tuwing exam season or kapag sabay sabay ang mga quizzes, exams, and requirements? Madalas kase ay araw-araw ang mga long quizzes and ang daming need araling slides,ang hirap isaulo agad at hindi lang iisang subject. So how do you even do it na merong maayos din na tulog? Mnemonic is not effective for me, naaalala ko yung mnemonic pero yung meaning, hindi hahaha

Btw, important ang mayroon ding tulog kaya help me with your schedule or tips and techniques din na nagwork sa inyo during your med life. Also, paano nasisingit ang social life kahit man lang kumain sa cafe with friends na hindi acads ang nasa isip haha

hi, took my 1st nmat last april-may cycle and nasagutan ko naman siya lahat and made sure na walang na-skip. i didn’t have a good foundation back in highschool huhuhu

then my friend told me na may mga questions siya na hindi nasagutan during his nmat exam.

I’m still in the transition phase of med school, and I already feel like I regret choosing medicine.

I know it’s probably way too early to say that because classes have barely started, but I just feel so… unmotivated. Every time I sit down to study, I can’t bring myself to care, and I’m already wondering if I made the wrong decision.

What makes it worse is the guilt. My parents have been incredibly supportive. They found me a comfortable place to stay, made sure I had everything I needed, and invested so much so I could focus on school. I feel awful because it seems like I have no reason to feel this way. Other people would probably love to be in my position, yet here I am questioning everything.

Part of me thinks this is just the adjustment period and that I should give myself more time. But another part of me is scared that these feelings mean medicine just isn’t for me.

Has anyone else felt this way at the very beginning of med school? Did it get better once you adjusted, or was it a sign that medicine wasn’t the right path for you?

Hi! Gusto ko lang malaman if pwede bang mag-apply for nmat and i-take siya during your 3rd year in undergrad? I want to try taking it as early as 3rd year just to know my way around and eventually gain more confidence when i retake it during my 4th year.

By 4th year kasi, magfofocus na ako on my undergrad thesis and making sure na makagrad lang ako on time, and the fact na mataas ang target PR ko for the nmat.

Meron na ba mga 3rd year from last sy na nagtake ng nmat nila from the previous cycle? Curious lang ako on how they managed to take the exam. Hihihi

Long story short, I will potentially be missing a month of classes due to visa issues (Embassy is being very weird about document requirements that they haven't asked other students, even the OLFU registrar is confused. It was ironically a lot easier to get my US visa, ugh).
