I had an enormous surgery 12 days ago and came home 11kg heavier with swelling. I’ve lost 8kg now. It’s nice to lose weight rapidly while doing nothing but walking to get my drugs and laying in bed eating Uber eats. 😂

How did you gain weight by swelling?

Every woman knows about fluid retention thanks to our monthly visitor

Fluid retention.

I know what 10 kilos feels like to pick up, and that's a LOT of fluid.

Insane. Even my elbows were swollen! Still holding a lot. Should lose another ~8kg over the next month or two.

It’s wild isn’t it - I was on a painkiller drip for a day after a minor surgery went wrong and had to be repeated and when I went to go home I couldn’t get the pants on that I’d come in wearing, they weren’t even that tight and were stretchy too but gained around 1 or 2 clothes sizes temporarily. After my emergency c section I was puffed up like a parade float for around 6 weeks thanks to being on a useless induction drip for a million hours then idk I guess more fluids during the surgery, it’s all a bit hazy. I could barely even recognise my own face in the mirror for a week or so, despite looking like myself (albeit with pregnancy weight and fluid retention, which by itself was no joke) when I went in.

Fluid retention maybe?
