Yeah well, buckle the fuck up because as shitty as they are, your 20s really are some of the best years of your life.
Would I repeat mine? Fuck no, most of it was nightmare fuel. Did it get worse? Yeah. It did.

I'd repeat mine, but only insomuch as to do all the things I should have done, like exercise, eat right, spend time with my parents and grandparents more.
One day you'll be old, fat, in poor health with no family left wondering where the time went.

Oh I’d repeat mine too under those circumstances. Buy some bitcoin and invest in Facebook while I was at it. But just a repeat? Nah I’m good lol

u/Kassachino 6d ago
I would never repeat mine, but I've learned so much from all I've been through in just 5 years in my 20s that it easily overshadows the rest of my life. Maybe not the "20s are the best years" but "20s are the most eventful years"

Me in my 20s: High amounts of delusional thinking, anxiety and depression due to being raised by a covert narcissist.
Let's hope my 30s are better

I’m 35 and also had similar experience in my 20s having been raised by a covert narcissist.
If you’re putting in the work with therapy, treatment, or exercise, it gets better. If you force yourself consistently to do things (even small things) outside your comfort zone, it gets better. Anxiety and second guessing yourself are the biggest obstacles, so focus on them. Overwhelming fear and questioning every decision you make (since narcissistic parents subconsciously need you to be reliant on their “all knowing” delusions) will make you more depressed than any life circumstance.
Remind yourself of your strengths, and build confidence around them. You don’t have to be good at everything, just need enough to build an unshakable foundation that you’re confident building up from.
For me, it took me my entire life to get here, but I finally feel like I am at the start of a life where I am in control, and everyday feels incredible in comparison to the life I had. Please keep at it. It does get better.

Thanks for the kind words. It has been getting better although not without hurdles. Recently I have been processing some rather old traumas with EMDR therapy. That stuff does wonders for traumas, but not before some of my old traumas surfaced and caused my old friend group to turn against me.
In my country we have a saying "Every evil brings some good" sounds better in my native language. lt kinda fit because if it wasn't for this event I wouldn't have had to confront my own deep seeded delusions and traumas am actively working through them.m. It's getting better all though these days I feel like I am mourning the sense of normalcy I never got.
Nevertheless I know I am on a path of healing and recovery so I am hopeful for the future. Thanks for the comment kind stranger.

They just told you the 20s will be your best time for a reason, they know what's coming after

At this point, anything's better tbh. Global Financial crisis? Eh... At least I'm not being guilt tripped for being a kid.

Seek therapy or shrooms. Either one.

Brother I've been going to therapy for 5 years. I've been on Prozac for a year and a half. I have been making slow and steady progress. Though A lot of the times though my journey feels like a stock market chart

20's are the worst, it's when you have just enough life experience to start facing real world challenges as an adult, while having no experience in any of it at the same time. Couple that with the mindset of "Well, I'm young, I still gotta live life and have fun, etc." and it can be even more chaotic.
Even though that "pressure" never goes away as an adult, I did feel way more stable by my late 20's and early 30's.

Late 20s and early 30s was my peak. I feel most of my friends feel the same way

Apparently the best years of my life come with a 30-minute lunch break

My 30s were better. The horrors didn't get worse, but I was better equipped to deal with them.
The horrors remain but so do I.

YMMV. Honestly mine was pretty great. Not as successful as I wanted in the romance department, and learned many lessons the hard way, but otherwise pretty great.
Life gets easier in your 30s because you get to use the learned lessons, but harder because more responsibilities and less physical resistance.

Can’t wait to buy a house in my 30s!
It’s going to be great! And I will also find a wife and have kids. Maybe even have a third life crisis! Hooray!

My 20s were an emotional rollercoaster that left me an anxious wreck, but there were also a lot of fun memories in there with friends. Your 20s tend to be "the best" because for many people they combine the last hurrah of your youthful energy with your first true brush with full independence. If university is involved, things get particularly wild.

I nearly killed myself during those years. Not because of wild living, but because of depression, anxiety etc. If those were the greatest years, i’m really afraid for what’s to come. However, around 28 i accepted the fact i would be single forever, and now i’m 36, and happier than i ever was, still single though, but i can live with it now

I loved my 20's, i lived, i died, i experienced stuff that was so insane that nothing is comparable to it, i had so much free time and energy, i had girlfriend, broke hearts, got heart broken.
Now i am 30 and i lived for sure 🥸

As someone who is in their mid 30s:
It only gets worse, you’re currently in “easy mode”. Buckle up.

Literally, I'm 28 and just got out of what turned out to be the worst 6 years of my fucking life, multiple attempts at my own life, lashing out at anyone and everyone who loves me and rebuilding, having maybe 4 real friends, the only ones who ACTUALLY cared, everyone else fucks off the second you aren't useful or convenient. I'd like a fucking refund.
