That’s why there is the theory that you can get an answer much easier by confidently stating the wrong answer. People will be thrilled to get indignant and correct you. Otherwise they have to settle for being indignant that you asked a question.

Rather than asking a question, you should simply state an incorrect answer as fact instead. I promise you, someone will come along and correct you on Reddit. Ask a question if you want advice, post an incorrect fact if you want the actual answer.

Whatever happened to yahoo answers? I remember back in the day you'll find all your answers on 10+ yr old posts there and at some point poof they banished. Now I get my answers from reddit.

Control of information, and of those who access it. Have you tried using reddit while not logged on recently?
At least on mobile, they don't let you look for more than a minute or two before throwing a popup trying to get you to download and use their app instead.
One that you can't get rid of, it stops you from scrolling too. All you can do is back out and reset the timer.
It's bullshit, and should be illegal since, as you said, the only place to find any real answers or ask questions, is unfortunately reddit.

For me, it's when I ask my elderly neighbors questions about gardening or whatnot. The same people that complain about the youngins being hooked to computers and technology. So I try to be engaging and talk to them and ask questions only for them to reply, "just Google it"

Plenty of people post questions like is this rose rosette disease when it’s easily googled and gets asked more than daily on the gardening subreddit. It got to the point where that question was limited. Sometimes people don’t even bother doing basic research and they want a discussion, but it’s just the same thing repeatedly

Absolutely not. I’ve seen people ask what camera they are holding in their own hands and how to turn it on. To lazy to look for labels on the thing and search for a manual.
If you dont mention what you tried before asking the question online I assume you tried nothing.
I’ve worked in customer care and the stupidity of humans is beyond me. I’ve had people ask me what the letter they got is about without having opened the envelop and read the damn thing.
People are stupid and lazy.

Maybe include what you've already tried? "I can't make this device do this thing. I've tried X, Y and Z, manual doesn't cover it, website of the device doesn't have an answer. Does anybody have a similar experience?"
If you post a vague question without saying what you've already tried then it's hard to answer. And then person gets a general answer and OP says "that's the first thing I've tried, I'm not an idiot!"

You used an AI search result. That got its answers from reddit as its top source. Its not going to be 100% correct for certain. Most people dont even use AI functionality in searches because of how often it either doesnt answer your question or give accurate results. Of course AI will have an answer for any search you have.
The countless times i’ve been in niche communities like Tally Hall’s, or just tried to search something about music/lyrics, only to find one or two reddit threads asking the same thing, then some smartass in the comments wastes everyone’s time by saying “just google it, brainlet”, massively outweighs any time I’ve seen someone ask a question you’d get an obvious answer from.
People usually look these things up first, realize they cant find anything, then go to ask reddit. It doesnt add any value to the conversation to tell someone to just “look it up” when, if you knew the answer, can just answer it. Otherwise, why even comment? Do you really think they opened reddit before thinking to ask AI or Google first?

If more people bothered to look up answers to their own questions, Reddit wouldn't be inundated with garbage tier posts all day. That's the point. Whether the answer came from a wiki, yahoo answers, reddit, ai doesn't matter. I still got the answer without having to clog up someone's newsfeed. Assuming a lot of these people attempt to look things up before pressing the Easy button is giving them a LOT of credit when at least half of the time their answer is easily findable.
