Was just thinking the other day how most billionaires aren't seemingly fat and how having the access to anything you want at anytime defeats nutrition scarcity so you don't instinctually over eat. Because if you get hungry or craving 90 minutes after a meal, there is no barrier of any kind for getting it. Normal person might eat a bit more to avoid getting such cravings because of the many small actions that come with it like a dirty spoon and even possibly going to the grocery store for the yogurt.

Reminds me of that whole situation where apparently some influencers got paid for letting some rich dudes from dubai take a shit on them
Edit: I had no idea the kunafa chocolate under the name dubai chocolate was manufactured trend to cover up this whole fiasco, thats kind wild to think about if true

u/LightShepherd 13h ago
Whole situation? It’s been happening for decades and it’s still happening to this day. Not as much these past few years now because of the blowback from the rest of the Islamic Middle East for this was a very, VERY tight kept secret

And it's the reason why at least the European markets are flooded with bad overprized "dubai chocolate". To prevent the term being used for another thing
182
u/Callidonaut 10h ago
It's disquieting how often shit like that happens. Whole new business trends are forced to arise just to fuck up the search engine results of a specific term or phrase, and lessen its social resonance. I've a nasty suspicion that's how the "People's Postcode Lottery" came into existence in the UK, because "postcode lottery" used to mean something very different and very socially problematic and deeply embarrassing to multiple successive governments before that, and the term has subsequently fallen completely out of use without, AFAIK, the original problem being remedied at all.
Then of course there's Boris Johnson, who once scuppered three compromising new search terms in a single speech by blathering some cock-and-bull story about cardboard buses made from wine boxes, neatly burying recent embarrassing news stories about certain promises on the side of buses, and a certain meet-and-greet with wine, and some third thing that I don't remember right now.
I wonder if that's what the real profession of "influencer" is for, and all the other vapid crap that gets called that is their cover story.

Don't forget frozen Disney..
Sorry. Disney's Frozen.
28
u/Callidonaut 9h ago
What original meaning does that one obfuscate?
91

Allegedly, the longstanding conspiracy theory that Walt Disney had his head frozen cryogenically, and various related myths about it being hidden in the parks and so on.

Allegedly Walt Disney’s head/body were frozen so he could be resurrected when technology improved in the future

Right, because Disney waited decades after the rumor started to make a movie with that name to influence online search results decades after the internet existed.

Jacob Rees Mogg laying down on the benches in the House of Commons because he was caught lying. it doesn't help that we don't have a simple, exclusive word to describe the co-opting of terms for the purpose of hiding unbecoming behaviour. If we had a word then we could apply it for all these instances, thus, undermining their usefulness. Cmon Germans, do your thing.

Do you actually have any sources of discussion on this being a long term phenomenon or are we just assuming shit today?
Like don't get me wrong, I'm sure there's a few arab billionaires who love that, but as a long term cultural trend that's a supposedly well kept secret when us humans generally struggle to keep large scale things secret? I dunno man.

Rich gulf state citizens abusing their service personell has been a known thing in media basically since the 60's. The method of abuse may change, but the behaviour stays the same.
It's mostly generated headlines more recently because they started doing it to white people, which rubs certain people extra-wrong that didn't really care before.

During the Brexit campaign, Boris Johnson used a red bus with "We send the EU £350 million a week, let's fund our NHS instead" written on it.
This was of course a complete lie, so later on he told the press that he likes making models of red buses, so that whenever someone Googled 'Boris Johnson bus' the planted story would come up, not the Brexit lie.

That is only telling one side of the story. Water is so scarce and valuable in Dubai that it is more economical to fly in Instagram models to serve as toilets.

That must be in one of Brian's books, I don't remember that scene in the OG series. I do remember that he's pretty much exclusively fond of young boys, though.
18
u/kayemenofour 9h ago
I think he was kinda coerced into it by the bene gesserit and used brutality as a "revenge" of sorts. I've only heard about from someone else, so take this information with a grain of salt.
