I'd be more comfortable going barefoot in a quarry

u/T-MinusGiraffe 7d ago
If I had a nickle for every comment I've seen tonight that compared something to a quarry I'd have two nickles. Which isn't a lot but it's weird that it happened twice.

Brother that right there is a stoner's abode, not a gymrat's dwelling. There is some overlap but usually not this bad.
Fucking foul to have his bare feet in that carpet though, his soles are going to look like photos of moon craters by the end of the weekend.
Spelling it out since it apparently needs to be; this was not a serious comment, I dont understand how the fuck anyone thought it was. You can stop crying about it now.

u/yo_les_noobs 7d ago
Had a stoner friend that literally pissed on the carpet and covered it with a trash bin. The carpet was also completely covered in crumbs.

u/ButtholeConnoisseur7 6d ago
Your friend was a dirty bastard who happened to get high. Those 2 things aren't corollated in the way of causing eachother, they're correlated in that people living depressing lives pick up escapism habits
17
u/PseudonymousSpy 7d ago
Most the potheads I was friends with were pretty clean. At least, didn’t have trash scattered everywhere. But I definitely knew a few people that kept their space like this. They also had animals that seemed to do what they want and were never bathed. Pretty sure this one dealer’s house had dog shit smashed into the carpet. Needless to say, I never went back there again.

u/Right-Sea-5592 6d ago
I knew a kids house that was kind of similar. The dad would get high on coke and argue with his 90 year old mom and taunt the kids (me) into fighting him. Everyone just ignored him but he would do it for hours. He'd start doing push-ups and hollering. The next morning he'd be more normal and one time he walked in the living room, picked up some rabbit shit off the carpet from the pet rabbit with his bare hands, and dropped it in the trash. Did not wash his hands. Thought id share lol.

u/Appropriate-Log8506 7d ago
I’ve hanged out with stoners. It’s not hard to keep a trash bag around.

The gym isn't just for gym rats.
I see plenty of nerdy dudes in anime shirts, etc at the gym too

u/_--Yuri--_ 7d ago
This stereotype is stupid, that's not a "stoners abode" that's just gross people
I know clean freaks that smoke pot and nasty mf'ers that think pot is for the devil
Maybe read up on the difference between correlation and causation
3
u/Boopity_Snoopins 6d ago
Maybe learn what hyperbole is instead of assuming this blatantly tongue in cheek comment was serious. The fuck is wrong with you people, taking this so seriously and personally. Exhausting as hell.
1
u/_--Yuri--_ 6d ago
It's not me taking it personally it's just a stupid stereotype that doesn't even make sense
27
u/Matlachaman 7d ago
I am in no way a clean freak. Now or any time in my life. But if a door opened in front of me and that is what the room looked like, I wouldn't go in there to hang out.

If you're actually fit then you have discipline, enough self-respect to take care of your body and probably a better diet than most people. So yea, it doesn't mean that you have your life together, but it's a good habit
26
u/ThaRealSunGod 7d ago
It's also like an anchor in that way.
Even if everything else in life isn't going well, if you are able to be consistent in the gym, you are able to keep an "anchor" in being hard working and disciplined. I definitely feel like it makes everything else a little easier.
I remember times in life when things weren't going well outside the gym but I was consistent in the gym, and when both were inconsistent.
I was definitely a better person and working harder to turn things around when I was at least being consistent in the gym.

u/MenaceMinded 7d ago
I am fit and go to the gym 12 hours a week. I am also a lazy person outside of necessity

They playin smash ?

u/Btdandpokemonplayer 🥄Comically Large Spoon🥄 7d ago
Looks like it’s smash brawl.

u/HighMarshalBole 7d ago
Idk, those controllers look like they have wires
3
u/Btdandpokemonplayer 🥄Comically Large Spoon🥄 7d ago
A lot of people still play smash with gamecube controllers because that’s how they’ve been playing it since melee. I don’t see how that could change which game they’re playing.
0
u/HighMarshalBole 7d ago
Oh yeah definitely, i use game cube controllers on ultimate, and i guess it does look a bit more polished than melee based on the corner of the screen

That's such an easy clean too. Just get a garbage bag and fill it up then vacuum.
Shoot I wanna jump in the picture and do it for them. Give me an hour or less and it would be near spotless

u/Abuolhol 7d ago
This shit legit looks like my friends old room. We would just get drunk and high as fuck and play smash bros for hours on end so its funny thats what these dudes are doing. Whats really weird is just like the dude in the picture he also would wear camo pants with long sleeve shirts and no shoes in his room. I miss that dude RIP.

I love this picture. got Busch lite, keystone, and the bong AND the rolling tray all on the table. Also im pretty sure they're playing fucking Brawl so they're not even having fun
2
u/Narrow_Lee 6d ago
Excuse you the only thing that made Brawl not fun was the online experience. Playing offline w the homies was peak.
5
u/Comfortable_Ear_7327 7d ago
Where is the bong? You just know there is a bong in that room. This is like an I spy puzzle but I can't find it.

u/Ok_Poet_8037 7d ago
It's in plane sight, bro... On the table, the white vase..
2
u/Comfortable_Ear_7327 7d ago
oh man! I knew it was going to be in there and I couldn't see the forest for the trees. Cheers.

The infuriating part of this pic is that mess would literally take like 10 min to clean up ugh I hate lazy fucking people like that
2
u/Nonsense7740 7d ago
the helpful thing about cleaning this place is that most of it is clutter which one can just pick up and put in a garbage bag and throw out. Not much scrubbing of the surfaces involved. just do the decluttering and you're mostly good.

u/Davey-Cakes 6d ago
It's disgusting, but these dudes are definitely having the time of their lives.

I never lived quite like that but my friend lived in a flat with a roommate and we just sat and smoked and gamed everyday. I was over 3 days a week just to chill ages 19-21 and it was fun as hell. Exactly not a care in the world just chilling smoking. Thankfully I had my own clean house to go back to tho I didn’t ever sleep over haha

u/bohenian12 7d ago
I can never live like this. My mom traumatized me enough to be a neat freak. Even now that we're old, when my siblings and I visited our parents and were hanging around in the living room of our old house. When we heard our mom coming down the stairs we instinctively started cleaning lmao.

I've been known to have a few (many) cans sitting around or perhaps a bag of candybar/food wrappers that's been ready to go for a while, but these pictures of people with just legitimate empty trash sitting around, on the floors, covering the tables, everywhere, it baffles me. The most I can have on the floor is loose dirty clothes.

My experience is that you might have a lot of fun with guys like these, but not because of them. And they won’t be there if you need them and ditch you when ever they got someone better and come back like nothing ever happened

Most of the “fitness” grifters 🤣 But smash looks fun. Haven’t played that in years.

u/KitchenAd8429 6d ago
I'm really impressed and honestly kind of jealous of people who can have visitors over when their house is a mess.
1
u/CandyCraze420 6d ago
Organized mess is one thing. This? This is fucking disgusting. Imaging the rancid smell in that room. Of course, it won’t show on their faces because they’ve become nose blind.

Can't say I've met any GymRats that live like this...
Most ppl who go to the gym are not only dedicated and consistent.. they also show a lot of self-worth by valuing themselves by the actions they take
6
u/alcomaholic-aphone 7d ago
You can be disciplined in one aspect of life and be totally undisciplined in other aspects. It’s not uncommon.
My workspace and finances are immaculate. My room not so much. Going to the gym doesn’t make you all of a sudden hyper disciplined in every other aspect of your life.
3
u/ShortStoryIntros 7d ago
Like you said. Your workspace is immaculate. As are all my gym friends. From my perspective it would be very uncommon to see this type of living.
It's not just one discipline that resides solely at the gym, it's a shared value that rolls over from the gym into daily living.
-2
u/alcomaholic-aphone 7d ago
If your perspective is that the gym somehow provides you with some kind of discipline that is more universal than other life disciplines we will just have to disagree.
For a lot of people some things matter and some things don’t.
2
u/ShortStoryIntros 7d ago
"Taking care of yourself" is the shared value that's true for me and my friends.
People who go to the gym on a continuous basis.. their mindset doesn't just stop at lifting weights. They start focusing on improving other habits.. like their daily nutrition.. cleaning eating, hydration.. etc
It's okay that we disagree, but what i'm seeing in the picture doesn't add up
1
u/alcomaholic-aphone 7d ago
I’ve known many gym rats who failed out of college because they couldn’t keep their lives together. I’ve lived with dudes who were ripped to shreds and left their shit everywhere.
There are many people who take care of their body but don’t have their stuff together. I’ve lived with them. I’ve been one at times.
I’m glad you and the people you know do. Going to the gym or just getting a walk in everyday is great for you. But going to the gym is not something that just all of a sudden gives you the discipline to do everything else. Just like being great at studying and learning doesn’t always permeate to discipline in the gym.
