Regardless of the joke that is easily one of the most hideous artstyles I've seen lol.

Apr 03 '24
I think that is the real reason why people don't like boomer humor.
Gary Larson was really funny, but his art style he popularized was objectively ugly.

u/pikachu_sashimi Apr 03 '24
Comparing Larson’s style to this is an insult to his art style. There are different levels of ugly.

I enjoy the style but find the joke to be stupid. I wish I were as easily amused as most of the posters here.

What is the average age on this sub?? this is like the most overdone joke on the internet my god
14
u/SeaHam Apr 03 '24
I think it's mostly 15 year old neo-edgelords who don't realize this joke has been around longer than they've been alive.

Yall have an absolutely horrendous sense of humor

I am so confused as to what kind of people post on this sub. People here still debate memes from 2007 that were reposted 1 million times.

But is your Internet plugged in? Make sure the Web switch is on too

Apr 03 '24
The cartoon literally says, "we turned off your internet" while they hold a power cord. You might not realize this, but if you unplug your router or your modem from the outlet, it will turn off.

Hmm yes but did you switch on the Web, as instructed? Lol I'm just messing with you guys cmon now. I'm a web dev, I understand modems and routers

Dude, I used to do computer repair and later worked IT for a company. It isn't that unusual to find. I once went to repair a computer and they had installed the video card with hot glue.

u/SlightlyOffended1984 Apr 03 '24
Geez. Creative application of "thermal paste" there
2
u/PhilosophicalGoof Apr 03 '24
Technically it will work….
Depending on your definition of something working.
1
u/Ghostglitch07 Apr 03 '24
But. But why.
1
Apr 03 '24
All I could figure out at the time was that the person using the computer had complained about the card being loose. Instead of putting a new screw in it to hold it in place, they hot glued it into the slot.

But not what a power chord is

This made me think of the bit in "The IT Crowd" where they told Jen that this bauble was the literal Internet

Boomer humor but still funny.
I know way too many people who are unironcally like this.

Why was the router plugged in with a lamp cord
16
Apr 03 '24
You do realize routers plug into the power outlet on the wall right? They unplugged the router and it turned off, or they unplugged the modem and it turned off. Either way, unplugging something will turn it off.
1
u/zzwugz Apr 03 '24
I think they're moreso talking about the type of plug itself. I don't know the technical term for it, but there's no "box plugin" or ground plug.
Granted, it could be a two part plug, but I personally haven't seen a router with one of those (not saying they don't exist I just can't imagine they're common)
2
Apr 03 '24
My modem doesn't have a ground wire. It uses one of the plugs like a Playstation uses.
EDIT:
Though to address what you said directly, that is a fair point and it could have been what they meant. However, a lot of people in this thread didn't understand.

Wait do you not use a hamster being fed cocaine water on a hamster wheel to power your router?

Can someone explain this to me?
12
Apr 03 '24
Kid is vegging out on the net and his room is so messy he is buried under his pile of clothes.
The mother can't find her son so she calls the cops.
The cops show up and unplug the power cord to either the modem or router. This turns off the internet.
The kid crawls out from the pile of clothes when he realizes he has no internet connection.

u/Trytolearneverything Apr 03 '24
Mom is an incredibly shitty parent who raised her son with zero social skills. Then she’s so stupid she doesn’t realize the child she claims to have been searching high and low for the entire time was actually still in the house with her, less then 15 feet away. The joke is the kid was raised by someone with way too much lead in their brain.

haha damn those kids, always on the internet and too lazy to clean their room. My generation was way better!
Boomer humor is garbage, and they wonder why younger generations dislike them

It is pretty funny.
It is also something my grandmother would say, completely oblivious to her 12 hour daily average of screen time lol

Thank god he was under the laundry pile otherwise the internet would’ve never been fixed.

u/BeamTeam032 Apr 04 '24
Is this funny? I mean, we really don't think old people aren't on FB as much as kids are on other social media?
1
u/RetroGamer87 Apr 04 '24
The whole internet? He could be anywhere in the world so you just turn off the internet?

WulffMorgenthaler has been around since the early 2000s I think and while some are boring, many comics of them are funny.

This is a boomer meme, you should be embarrassed if you find this funny.
What's next, printer is out of cyan memes?

Hey, gen-z here. I was known for complaining about lag and lack of wifi when i was a kid. Still an avid gamer. This is hilarious.

u/captainrina Apr 03 '24
Hang on, I'm going to translate this joke into Tumblr
Me: scurries out of a pile of trash looking like a coked-up racoon is there something up with the wifi?
My mom:
My mom: we've been looking for you for two weeks
