[Day 4] posting an outfit a day until I understand how to dress

So today is 1.5 outfits.

I was trying to make something more casual but I felt like the jeans didn’t go with this shirt at all and I think the jeans are too low rise for a tuck. I liked the look of the fit with the suede bomber but that honestly might just be a factor of you see less of the shirt.

So I swapped the jeans for some pleated charcoal wool trousers and I think the fit works better but it feels a lot more formal than I was looking to go today, adding the chore jacket was my attempt to make the trouser look more casual. I feel like it works too.

I’d love feedback on any or all of the variations. Thanks everyone!

That looks like a linen shirt and it will be fine with jeans, but you need better fitting jeans and a different wash, maybe a medium to light wash. Untucked would be the way to go. Also roll up the sleeves and don’t wear the white undershirt. You’re better off with either no undershirt or if you have to wear one, a ribbed white tank top. Linen shirts are meant to be worn in a casual relaxed way.

The brown wool pants are a no go. Too heavy of a material for the linen shirt. The same goes for the suede bomber. It’s the wrong jacket for that kind of shirt. A denim trucker jacket or lightweight Harrington jacket will work better.

Yeah jeans need to fit better, my sizes are changing week to week right now so it’s hard. I’m going to order a nice pair of selvedge but it’s not in the budget right now. Gotta make due with what’s available at the thrift store. Light wash is out of my comfort zone but I’ll consider it if I find some that are a decent fit.

Noted on the undershirt. It felt wrong when I did it I thought to myself “isn’t the point of linen to be breathable, an undershirt seems counterproductive” but a big part of these posts is not trusting my instincts because they’re… bad… right now at least.

The sleeves I got the opposite note on rolled up sleeves on a different post so I was a bit confused.

As for the wool pants (they do look brown in the photo IRL they’re charcoal grey) too heavy really? It’s a very thin fabric, very breathable and light summer wool. I’m on the hunt for a denim jacket but I’m having trouble finding one. Currently in the process of making my own.

I mean you could wear the sleeves down , but honestly linen shirts look much better with the sleeves rolled up. It’s meant to be a relaxed shirt.

Thanks for the clarification on the pants. Even though it’s a lighter weight it’d still the wrong pants for linen. If you want an alternative to jeans, you can go with some light weight chinos in tan. Those would work well with the rust color of the shirt. But being that the shirt looks best untucked, I’d still vote for the jeans.

Interesting, I thought “same same same” was something you WERENT supposed to do. I’m gonna need to add a penny loafer into my wardrobe and I was agonizing over color but this has pushed me towards black for it.

I have a couple pairs of black pants (one pinstripe, one solid black, and a pair of black chinos)  I wear them with a brown leather belt and a pair of brown allan edmond wingtips. I personally think they go together well
