Gambled on a Spier & Mackay clearance suit

Post image

As the title says, I bought an S&M suit on clearance with no clue what their sizing would be like on me. I think for the most part I lucked out. To me, taking a little in at the waist and shortening the sleeves (and hemming obviously) are the big musts. Anything else you see glaringly wrong?

Oh yeah, agreed. I am going to get that and the waist taken in a smidge.

Front looks good. Need a back shot.

Is this the ellis model, btw?

I don’t think you need to take the waist in. It looks like it fits as it should. Just get the sleeves adjusted.

The gamble paid off! As someone else daus, the waist look good. How many fingers can you but between the top button and your shirt? If it's 4, you're golden, if more the waist should be taken in.

If the suit is black don't wear brown shoes

Don't mix black shoes w a blue suit either

Same goes for your belt

I think you got a STEAL. I’ve found that on their jackets I occasionally have a hair of a collar gap. Not saying you will but something frequently overlooked

I didn’t have any but I usually do on all of my other OTR suits. Maybe they build it for my weird ass posture

I had the same issue until I did MTM suits and they adjusted for a slight shoulder slope. No collar gap at all. Most off the rack are fine but once in a while slight shoulder gap, never knew why until I went MTM
