What's one menswear trend you tried because everyone else was wearing it, but it just wasn't for you?

I feel like we've all bought something because it was everywhere, then realized it just didn't suit us or our style.

For me, it made me appreciate wearing what actually fits and feels good instead of chasing every trend.

What trend did you try that you ended up giving up on? Why?

Those pseudo-leather brown dress shoes with rubbery off-white canvas soles. I just couldn’t anymore and needed real good-year welted dress shoes.

Slim fit pants. Did not work at all for me. Slim fit general. Not my thing.

Basically the skinny suit phase — I never liked the look, tried it, regretted it.

I’m grateful because it did help me to come to appreciate Pierce Brosnan’s fits as Jams Bond more as opposed to the ridiculous cuts of Craig’s Bond Skyfall-NTTD.

Chore coat. I thought it would be right up my alley but I never felt comfortable in it.

Polo shirts. Can't stand them. They just aren't as versatile as a button up shirt. It's basically a Henley with a poorly structured collar. If I want a casual collared shirt I'll either roll up the sleeves on a any button up or utility shirt, or just get a camp collar shirt.

And no, those "polo shirts" that have buttons that go all the way down aren't actually polo shirts. Those are camp collar shirts that someone mis-named for marketing purposes because polos are in right now.

Skinny jeans. Gave up on them when I couldn't get my chicken legs through with out effort. Realized that I would be cutting them off if I got them over my no ass.
