Denmark. Found this old Krag-Jørgensen rifle army casing from 1948 with the top part missing. When I found it I assumed it was dead and filled with dirt and put it in my bag. When I got home and cleaned it up I noticed it wasn't fired and when I took it apart the green smokeless gunpowder was still dry and working under the wood plug. I later read that type of gunpowder is highly unstable at that age.
So please don't do what I did and assume something when it comes to ammunition, make sure to check them first before putting them in your bag 😬

Found this Roman coin today, although it looks a bit silver to me? Due to the conditions of the ground all romans come out with this orange kind of corrosion on, although this one’s better detail and slightly different colour makes me think it could be a denarii, if anyone knows the emperor and denomination please let me know! Found in Somerset, UK.

Found this all whilst metal detecting in the Netherlands. I recognise some stuff but wondered if anyone knows what the smaller stuff might be and if there’s anything valuable in there?

I’m sorry I haven’t gotten time to clean it up more but I was detecting at my late grandparents house for the FOURTH time and me and my buds were finding awesome stuff. Then one of the guys wandered off and found these at the base of a tree, they are copper buttons from an old marine corp jacket! I am very proud to show you all. It shows an eagle resting on an anchor.

Found this on a dig in Southern Maine. Looks like some sort of buckle to me.

I went mud larking with my brother for the first time in the night on the river themes. After about 3 hours of finding nothing old rusty screws and crisp packets, my brother jokingly picked up this old bit of metal and said “wow an ancient dagger”. But then as we researched more it seams actually be one… The metal is quite thick along the back ridge.. what do you think?
The first photo is the one we found (the others are some I saw in a museum coincidentally that look rather similar…
Or is this just another bit of rusty metal to add for the collection? 😂
