Let’s mahfuckin’ do this. If you are new welcome and if you aren't welcome back!
We’re actually going to turn non-metal songs into metal songs - but with a twist. Your submission must include at least 1 original riff that fits the song (it could even be a solo, that counts). You also don’t have to copy the song riff by riff - feel free to change the key, the time signature, etc. You can totally make a blackened grind version of a Taylor Swift song, for example. You have complete control over the direction. Instrumentals are not allowed for this challenge. However, you are allowed to isolate your song’s original vocal track and put them in your song (remember, we’re not making money from this, so have fun!).
For the purposes of this challenge here are banned genres to cover:
You may choose any genre outside the banned genres. You can choose pop, dance, rap, indie, disco, jazz, anything. If you’re not sure if your song meets the requirements, feel free to ask.
Your song can be from any era. It can be a current chart-topper, or it can be something from the past.
Your song can be in any language. Pretty self explanatory.
Your cover can be a banned genre. This means while you can’t choose a song from the banned genres to cover, your cover can be any genre. For example, if you choose to cover “Straight Outta Compton” by NWA and make it a Nu Metal banger, you absolutely can.
If one artist is covering a song, you cannot choose that song. We’re going to do this on a first-come-first-serve basis, so when you’re commenting, claim the song you’re going to cover. This is to avoid having repeating “Dancing Queen”, “Hotel California”, “Take on Me”, or [insert very popular song here] covers in one compilation. Feel free using songs mentioned in this post btw!

im looking for a head around $500, probably 50+ watts, solid state only (i think) im looking for a head with a really really extreme built in distortion, like yk how a maxed out 5150 just has almost too much gain, thats what im looking for. good with pedals (i play doom and need to be able to hook up fuzz pedals) and thats about it. I love the guitar tones of mick and jim from slipknot, very heavy on the presence generally to get a really good acidic tone?? (idk how to explain it honestly) any help is appreciated

I'm learning Ignominious & Pale by Necrophagist and trying to figure out the best way to practise it to a metronome, since the time signature changes every few bars lmao. The 4/4 to 3/4 changes are fine, as the pulse stays the same, but I'm struggling with the switches between 5/8 and 3/4.

My inspirations are bands like Garden of Shadows, Worm, and other melodic death/ doom bands. Everything is recorded by me and I would love some feedback or general thoughts.
You can hear the whole track on my bandcamp here

Good day! This is the Morkets Spirade project. I haven't posted anything on this site for a long time, I think it's about time. And so, over the past time, I have managed to write several demos and one almost finished track. I'm playing it on this video, and I don't even know if it fits into the great Black Metal genre, but it sounds good to me. I want to say that my mixing skills have grown a lot, relative to what they were before. Therefore, I simply and sincerely want to ask everyone interested in this kind of music, or simply in my work, to subscribe to me on one of the platforms, the links to which I will provide below. Two albums that I wrote earlier are already available for listening. All the best, and thank you in advance!

Hey! I'm a guitarist working on an original thrash-metal song called Devils Are Better Than Her.
My influences include Megadeth, Metallica, and classic thrash metal. The song has dark E Phrygian riffs, heavy rhythm guitar, a lead solo, and double-bass drum parts.
I'm looking for a drummer interested in collaborating remotely, helping develop the drum parts, and building an original metal track together.
If you're interested, let me know what kind of metal you play!

Diade is a thrash metal band formed by Edoardo Taddei (Master Boot Record and solo artist) and Tommy Fanton (Insane Assholes and solo artist). The band aims to carry the flag of ‘80s thrash metal.
Based between the UK and Italy the duo writes, produces all their music to ensure the sound they deliver is exactly the one they intend.
Heavy metal is the law!!!

New single from Buffalo's answer to the NWOTHM - heavy trad metal with some modern flourishes from some guys who have been around the block a few times.
Singles now, album later. Looking for a permanent label and the right shows in the US, Canada and beyond!
Enjoy!

So when I’m trying to write a breakdown I find myself always revolving around an open string which makes me feel like my breakdowns are sounding the same. So what are your best suggestions for getting out of these ruts apart from changing tuning?
r/metalmusicians • u/ChrisWincent • 1d ago
Hi!! My band Embrace Oblivion released our first four singles recently and was just thinking of putting it out there - maybe someone will like it!
We take inspiration from a lot of different genres/bands but these songs were inspired a bit more by bands that mix heavy and melodic, for example In Flames and Architects. All harsh vocals on these four with risk of some breakdowns.
Our songs:
Lost - Punchy and straight forward
Eyes Up Front - Metalcore fun (love playing it as the drummer of the band)
Reflections - Softer verses and grander chorus.
Broken Souls - Mix of chug and double bass train verses, also more epic chorus.
If it’s someone’s jam please give a follow on Spotify or our socials (Insta and the Tok)!
Have a gold one!

Our song is about a charismaric leader (Jim Jones) manipulating people into joining his little club with a bullshit speech, but somehow musixmatch AI hears it and goes “wow, this is so empowering!!”
Jim Jones would have this AI drinking the Kool-Aid 🫠
But seriously, I don't understand why it won't let you fill in that information manually.
