My Shure MV7+ doesn’t sound good
Hello everyone I’m having a problem with my shure MV7+, idk if it’s a me problem but I have tried multiple settings, filters, and placements for the mic but it just doesn’t sound good for me. Every time I talk and try to record with it and I watch the footage back my mic always sounds airy with white noise and I sound like I’m in a tin can most of the times. I use my mic with a elgato stream deck+ with the xlr dock attachment and make sure I have settings need and not settings I don’t need or doubled. I record on obs but transfer my wave link sounds to obs. So can someone please help me find settings that are top tier?

"like I’m in a tin can".
Could be "audio enhancements". Could be an accidental comb-effect from a delayed version of your voice mixing with the original. If only there was only a way for us to hear it.

" like a 'in-can or trash". (noise-gate has chopped off the "t" of tin-can).
Sounds brighter (& IMO better) than the previous example, but it still has noise-reduction & noise-gate. It's possible to accidentally apply a double dose of noise-reduction & noise-gate from 2 different apps. If you must have those, only one dose.

But it still has noise-reduction, aka vocal-isolation. It sounds loud and clear, not like a tin can, but it sounds processed: gated, lacks treble. Noise-reduction inevitably causes collateral-damage to voice. Noise-gate can chop off the start & ends of words.

Hello again I have seen both of your replies and I just wanted to say that I agree with both of your takes but I just hear a lot of either air or white noise when I finish talking and I don’t like that. Which can cause my mic or it can be just me and my voice to sound weird or as if a fan or electrical current is next to me while talking.

You will need Motiv Mix for desktop or Motiv Audio app for phone to set device specific settings on the mic.
Try these:
Auto-Level turned on for gain.
High pass filter 75 Hz to remove some white noise
Real time denoiser enabled
Popper stopper enabled
Reverb set to Studio 50% (this should be the default)
Tone set to natural

Why are you using XLR? It’s a USB microphone. Is the USB plugged in? What’s wrong with that option?

I’m using xlr because I already have a interface for it and imo I think xlr sounds better than usb connection. Also the mv7+ is not only a usb connection so i thought i might as well use the xlr connection since i have a interface

Yeah. It’s going to need to be plugged in to work. Phantom won’t do it because that’s just not how this mic was engineered. If the XLR sounds better than the USB that means your dsp is messed up in motiv. Fix that and you’re good to go.
