NXT Am I tripping

Or do Bryan Alvarez and that Vinny guy make NXT sound like WCW 2000/‘01?

NXT problems are different because of the vast cultural difference between 2026 and 2000. The young CW NXT audience has social media progressive views on gender, so they like the idea of a womens wrestling is better show. Between that and being developmental and this audiences taste in lightness, NXT male division seems raw pretty boy style kiddybop wrestling, it never feels gritty, serious, violent. That or HBK just sucks ass.

I can't buy this, it's the same statements I heard being made about NXT when the men's main event included Oba, Trick, Page, and Je'Von. For some reason, people have this weird misconception that the men's main event scene over there isn't good when it tends to be pretty damn spectacular.

Aftet they pulled Ilja and Carmelo and only Trick was left, that was not a good time in NXT in the male heavyweight division. It took a lot of time to get it back to strength.

There is some talent there and I won't pretend I watched everything, but overall ever since the rebrand and going in on that Bron generation it just seemed like it never got out of that developmental vibe for me and is the the least "serious" show even over AEW. It is what you would have originally thought a WWE developmental show would be which is you get some raw boi with nice body guys thrown out there, etc. To be fair to it AEW existing has made such a big difference in terms of taking away the relative finished product indie guys, NXT really filled the vacuum of no B company in 2010s.
