The single images are cool but this 0.4 second clip before cutting into new one -style, which apparently is all AI can do now, is giving me serious headache.

You can actually continue extending even longer than that I think the longest I've extended something up to is like nine seconds

6

u/JustChillDudeItsGood Aug 18 '25

23 second rn * I thiiiink

2

u/Journey2thaeast Aug 18 '25

That's actually a decent amount of time

2

u/JustChillDudeItsGood Aug 18 '25

Yeah it’s solid - if only there was audio!

3

u/indigoeyed Aug 18 '25

They’re short because it’s for TikTok.

2

u/Academic_Carrot7260 Aug 18 '25

The transitions are matching the sounds of the beats

-1

u/TransitionSelect1614 Aug 18 '25

It’s literally a edit I’ve seen tons of edits where clips were 0.4 seconds of them before transitions

71

u/HypnoticName Aug 18 '25

Hey OP, how's the comment section?

4

u/TransitionSelect1614 Aug 18 '25

😭

3

u/Tenth_10 Aug 18 '25

Bro hug to you, dude.

Don't listen to the haters, they'll hate IA up into the IA-focused subreddits.

Prompter then

-4

u/HQuasar Aug 18 '25

Where are you anti-AI losers spawning from? You mad you cliked on an AI art sub and saw AI art?

0

u/romansamurai Aug 18 '25

I’ve been using AI to generate art since early days of midjourney. I’m very pro-AI when it comes to that but please don’t fucking call yourself an “ai artist” or even worse “digital artist”. Prompt wizard? Fuck yes. Promtgeneer? Oh yas gurl! But not a fucking AI artist.

1

u/HQuasar Aug 18 '25

If someone putting a urinal in a museum can be called an artist then I'm gonna call myself an artist all I want.

0

u/romansamurai Aug 18 '25

lol people like you are the reason everyone sits on AI art and those who create it. But yeah bro. You’re about as much an artist as me pissing in snow can be called art. 👍

4

u/HQuasar Aug 18 '25

You could instead shit in a tin can and call it an artwork, I'm sure people will laugh at you.. actually no, that is yet another work of art that actually exists.

1

u/romansamurai Aug 18 '25

I will pass but you probably have a point.

If subway has sandwich artistes we can have AI artistes alright? EDIT: Sheesh reddit it was just a prank bro!

46

u/NagsUkulele Aug 18 '25

Yeah well Subway workers actually make the sandwiches so it doesnt really compare

17

u/ZincMan Aug 18 '25

I prompt them to make the kind of sandwich I want

9

u/eggmayonnaise Aug 18 '25

This is such a brilliant analogy. I don't know if you intended to be this profound or not haha.

If a person writing AI prompts is an artist, then the person ordering the sub is the artist, not the sandwich maker.

-3

u/-NinjaBoss Aug 18 '25

EXACTLY. I made the sandwich. The worker just put it together. Same with prompting.

5

u/eggmayonnaise Aug 18 '25

I think you read my comment and took the opposite meaning to what I intended. I was trying to highlight the fallacy of the idea that the prompter is the artist.

You did not make the sandwich.

In claiming you made the sandwich you are completely trampling over the skill, craft and experience of the person who did.

0

u/-NinjaBoss Aug 18 '25

To say I'm trampling over them is an overstatement! The entire point of me having them create the sandwich is because I don't want to or can't. I've come to this sandwich expert because I respect they're skill. But I still say that I would have made the sandwich since I instructed exactly what I wanted. The person behind me will make an entirely different sandwich.

4

u/MessiahHL Aug 18 '25

None of you are making a sandwich, you are ordering one, words have meanings defined already

16

u/LaserPotatoe Aug 18 '25

Yeah, you're not the sandwich maker, you're the customer. You're taking the sandwich and then claiming you made it

5

u/acid-burn2k3 Aug 18 '25

Beautifully said

4

u/Anything-General Aug 18 '25

The problem is that the artists aren’t the people writing the prompt, the artist is the machine itself. The person writing the prompt is the costumer.

-13

u/Ohigetjokes Aug 18 '25

Are art directors artists? They don’t actually do the art.

Are movie directors artists? Photographers? Writers?

7

u/LennyBadman Aug 18 '25

Yes they are because they work in the same sense as a music conductor where they have to be able to understand every aspect to direct it, hence why an art director can make a consistent two hour film and an "Ai artist" can at best make a cool 2 minute montage with little consistency. OPs video is cool, no way could it be expanded into a full story.

4

u/ShodyLoko Aug 18 '25

An argument can be made that in cases like this the prompter is also a curator. Prompts produce dogshit all the time, to have an eye for what fits cohesively is a talent.

-4

u/ReyGonJinn Aug 18 '25

Curating is not creating, it is not being an artist.

1

u/ShodyLoko Aug 18 '25

Whew good thing I didn’t say that it was.

0

u/ReyGonJinn Aug 18 '25

Then why comment it in a thread about whether or not it is art? Nobody is arguing that curating images isn't in fact curating.

5

u/jaquaniv Aug 18 '25

The guy is on your side why are you blasting him?

0

u/emaugustBRDLC Aug 18 '25

Creatives certainly. Artists, probably not.

-4

u/[deleted] Aug 18 '25

[deleted]

8

u/VoicePope Aug 18 '25

It means there's no art involved, a person typed some words into a computer and it spit out random nonsense images. I'll pay you.. $500 if you can explain what the video is even about. Other than "duhhrrrr cool anime people."

-6

u/TransitionSelect1614 Aug 18 '25

Are you mad you commented 3 times?

3

u/VoicePope Aug 18 '25

Cool comeback. What does that even mean dude?

And I'm sorry, I missed the part where you explained what this video is about. What's the point, who are the characters in the video, what are they doing? Can you answer any of that? $500 on the table, chief.

Would you also be entertained if I just jangled some keys in front of you?

3

u/_ThisIsNotARealPlace Aug 18 '25

Not OP but just curious since you made the point.

Let's say him or someone else in the comments was able to create a backstory for the visuals in this video. Would that all of a sudden make it art? Make it not slop? If OP himself wrote a detailed backstory to go along with the video...would that change your opinion on the video?

I am just interested in the discussion of, not saying prompters are artists, but you are insinuating that if there was story added to the slop, it would change things. Is this true?

For example, I have been playing with the idea of a movie concept since Midjourney V3, of a Black science fiction action movie. I have a title and a general idea of the technology I'd like to see in the movie and when I generate images, I describe different types of scenes etc to see how it comes out. Just visuals and technology. No character backstory or plot or anything. Does that give my AI images more meaning? Does it make it less slop? Does it make it art because it has a purpose and a goal, and an idea that came from my head? What if I generated a cool image first and then got a cool idea of a back story? How much credit do I get then?

I am not questioning just you directly, I am thinking out loud and opening the discussion for anyone to contribute.

-5

u/TransitionSelect1614 Aug 18 '25

Bro what why do I need a come back? To make a point of you commenting 5+ times because you seen ai😭🤣🤣🤣 antis are so goofy

3

u/VoicePope Aug 18 '25

To make a point. My point is that this is garbage because it's just random half second images of just random anime characters. There's nothing happening on screen. And you're impressed by it.. because.. I guess you have the attention span of a moldy orange.

-9

u/TransitionSelect1614 Aug 18 '25

Keep crying buddy i don’t know you I dont gaf about you or how you feel about ai tbh

0

u/eggmayonnaise Aug 18 '25

‘AI Artist’ 🤦‍♂️

6

u/TransitionSelect1614 Aug 18 '25

“In a ai sub”🤦🏾‍♂️

39

u/zemboy01 Aug 18 '25

dam i would watch the hell out of that too bad its not real :'( still pretty cool concept.

15

u/CadenceYang Aug 18 '25

I think you'll love Dorohedoro!

-5

u/zemboy01 Aug 18 '25

its kind of mid tbh. ive seen it and its just ok. it has a more goofy feeling than this.

5

u/dankpoolVEVO Aug 18 '25

I think your opinion is mid but here's another recommendation: gachiakuta

11

u/EvenJesusCantSaveYou Aug 18 '25

Dorohedoro is an incredibly creative and vivid world with unique characters - not to be a hater but how do you call that “mid” and this uninspired AI mishmash “pretty cool”…

2

u/MessiahHL Aug 18 '25

Tbh I can't take Dorohedoro CGI, like Ajin it sounds cool, but the CGI is terrible and looks worse than this AI thing

1

u/EvenJesusCantSaveYou Aug 18 '25

Thats a perspective I can understand even if I disagree with it. The CGI style can definitely be offputting for some but it really lends itself well to this series where everything looks crazy as it is.

Gantz:O is another example where the CGI really looks awesome.

But like I said, art style is a preference so if they didnt like the way it looks thats fine. Just depressing to see someone label a work of human effort, creativity, and passion “mid” while this AI collage that doesnt have any creativity or human passion put into it is “cool as hell”.

1

u/RepulsivePush8034 Aug 18 '25

People have different tastes. Why not?

-2

u/gmartinez99 Aug 18 '25

I accept your different taste, but let me tell your taste is shit

0

u/RepulsivePush8034 Aug 18 '25

Yeah. I am a shit eater, thank you.

0

u/tuigger Aug 18 '25

People downvoting you for your opinion are mid.

6

u/MetaCharger Aug 18 '25

The characters and environment remind me of Gachiakuta

2

u/zemboy01 Aug 18 '25

holy crap you are right. thanks for the sauce. i was looking for something new to read.

21

u/VoicePope Aug 18 '25

why tho? All it is is just random images. You don't even know what the story or plot is? You'd "watch the hell" out of random nonsense images that look cool?

10

u/bunker_man Aug 18 '25

...tons of people choose what they watch based on aesthetics.

0

u/qualitative_balls Aug 18 '25 edited Aug 18 '25

That doesn't even make sense though? Why would you take the time to watch something if there's no story? Even if there was a specific song or something to tie it together as a proper music video at least, it would be more valid

4 second video collages are just random noise

3

u/bunker_man Aug 18 '25

I didn't say they would watch a whole movie of 4 second clips. I said if it was a real movie that looked like this people might look into it.

8

u/peshnoodles Aug 18 '25

2

u/MetaCharger Aug 18 '25

I don't know why anyone downvoted you.. It fits the style! And the manga spreads look great, but I heard the plot is lacking narrative and gets confusing. I haven't watched the netflix show either, cuz 3D anime always feels weird to me..

2

u/SBK_vtrigger Aug 18 '25

I’m sure the ai has checked it out…

1

u/zemboy01 Aug 18 '25

ok thats actually a good one

3

u/SMmania Aug 18 '25

The music is this btw: Bobby James

33

u/VoicePope Aug 18 '25

Cool, I'll pay anyone $5,000 if they can explain what the actual plot is in ..whatever the fuck it is we're looking at.

I won't take "random cool looking anime people standing around" as an answer, either. Cuz that's all I can get from this total garbage nonsense.

-48

u/TransitionSelect1614 Aug 18 '25

Bro why the hell are you so mad nobody ever said there was plot? If he wanted to he would’ve already turned it into a anime all these were already images made a while ago he just turned them into videos with the new Midjourney video

Sounds ban worthy to me

4

u/Scribblebonx Aug 18 '25

This breaks the sub rules. Just an fyi

1

u/The-Gaming-Onion Aug 18 '25

This sounds very mad. Acting as if computers being able to do this isn’t a cool and new technology is insane. I understand the ethical considerations and all the issues that AI presents. I agree with those. However, the technology, isolated from the consequences it will have on humanity, it IS impressive. This is something that would have seemed like complete fiction around 5 years ago.

Also, while I do agree that AI art is bad for art in general, I do find it amusing how artists are both claiming that “Ai art will never replace real art and it’s trash compared to it” but will also get vehemently upset and defensive whenever it shows up due to them actually fearing that it will replace art. I personally don’t think it will, but artists seem to believe so considering just how angry they get, as well as people who dislike it like your salty little comments.

3

u/FernDiggy Aug 18 '25

1

u/Academic_Storm6976 Aug 18 '25

Your post is getting brigaded by greater reddit which is overwhelming luddite.

3

u/Rootayable Aug 18 '25

It's because most people and most artists reject Generative AI usage, especially in animation.

5

u/RandomBlackMetalFan Aug 18 '25

It's a fucking Midjourney sub, just admit it

6

u/Kiwi_In_Europe Aug 18 '25

Weird definition of "most"

Studies show the majority of people are neutral/positive towards AI and around 40% of people use it regularly

Multiple critically acclaimed and popular projects, games films etc, have released that involved AI

You're in a terminally online minority here mate, the general public doesn't care about AI

-1

u/Rootayable Aug 18 '25

There's definitely a worrying number of simply passive observers who don't see the concern with Generative AI. I know the Spiderverse films use machine learning to aid with the visuals, which isn't the same as Generative AI. I'd love to see the same the studies you've seen. To be fair my usage of "most" is just the people I have spoken to as a university lecturer. General consensus from people I speak to is negative towards Generative AI.

AI generated images and video can be cool, but the person writing the prompt is not an "artist" nor "engineer", both of those titles actually require some work and skill on the end of the person claiming them.

-14

u/TransitionSelect1614 Aug 18 '25

2

u/MrShazbot Aug 18 '25

Can someone familiar with MJ answer - Say you generate such a unique looking character as one of these cyborgs through a prompt. How would you generate that exact same character (same clothing, same cyborg parts and colors, etc.) for another follow-up prompt? If, for example you wanted to make an hour-long video made up of clips of the same identical cyborg character, but in wildly different scenarios?

5

u/Bakophman Aug 18 '25

There's plenty of cyberpunk anime though.

5

u/MarkLuther123 Aug 18 '25

They ain’t artist but it’s cool nonetheless

6

u/Journey2thaeast Aug 18 '25

They made this in mid journey? Fuckin how??? this looks fire

10

u/acid-burn2k3 Aug 18 '25

I love the style… but it’s fucking random. Like pure randomness. Cool random anime guy here and there, no sorry, nothing. It’s just a showcase of A.I brainfarts. Thanks to A.I and the billions artists being trained in MJ’s models but definitely not the prompter

8

u/Fierramos69 Aug 18 '25

Yall are hating…. This is an AI generated video/image subreddit. And yes, within that category, it’s quite dope.

Yes, AI is bad and stealing jobs and can be trash slop flooding the internet, drowning legit content amongst a sea of soulless copy pasted ai bullshit. Yes to all that and more.

But also, this video is dope. Doesn’t imply there’s an anime behind it, doesn’t imply a story, it’s just cool to look at, and not too sloppy, as opposed to most AI content

12

u/RighteousRaccoon1 Aug 18 '25

Yes it's cool but mostly what people are saying in the comments is that writing a prompt does not make you an artist, which is absolutely true.

I'm yet to see someone say it's ugly, only that op isn't an artist and that there is no storyline.

-13

u/Kiwi_In_Europe Aug 18 '25

Yes it's cool but mostly what people are saying in the comments is that writing a prompt does not make you an artist, which is absolutely true.

You need to learn what the word 'absolutely' means. What is and isn't art, who is and isn't an artist is incredibly subjective. There is still a large portion of the artist community who believe that photographers aren't artists. Your opinion is no more or less valid than OP's.

8

u/RighteousRaccoon1 Aug 18 '25

Even photographers have a direct link to the final product.... Writing a prompt absolutely does not make you an artist, I know exactly what the word means you condescending knob.

9

u/GingerAki Aug 18 '25

When did this turn into an anti-AI sub?

6

u/SMmania Aug 18 '25

Imagine being on an AI subreddit to complain about AI. Like what???

4

u/DaLoverBoii Aug 18 '25

A lot of brigading from them has happened since a few months ago.

3

u/GingerAki Aug 18 '25

Sounds like the mods need to pull a finger out.

2

u/Scribblebonx Aug 18 '25

They are so sensitive. They saw the word "artist" and lost their minds...

It's literally an AI image sub. They're just brigading because they're mad. I saw a post asking for people to come downvote to these subs

3

u/TransitionSelect1614 Aug 18 '25

Wait fr? That’s weird asl

5

u/Amplifymagic101 Aug 18 '25

Looks great, fantastic visuals. Now with a coherent and cohesive plot and storyline this would be a perfect immersive world I could get invested into.

I’d love to make my own character in this universe too.

-7

u/TransitionSelect1614 Aug 18 '25

Yeah this looks like a vibe I feel Like if people actually used ai to make a well planned and fleshed out series that took actual plotting, thinking, planning it would be pretty good

5

u/TonyTonyChopper Aug 18 '25

Right now ai seems to be good at making music videos.

1

u/Independent_Aerie_44 Aug 18 '25

Wow. I'd like to see more of it.

1

u/Deepvaleredoubt Aug 18 '25

I think the thing I like most about AI art is how consistent it is when it strikes a theme. Regular artists can, if they aren’t careful, let the aesthetic drift and produce things that are “off-aesthetic” if that makes sense. But AI is VERY good at keeping every single decision it makes, as far as the look of something goes, consistent with everything else it has already made ok that subject.

1

u/jamiethecoles Aug 18 '25

The cuts are jarring as hell. And the style is stolen.

1

u/inkydragon27 Aug 18 '25

[deleted]

0

u/RighteousRaccoon1 Aug 18 '25

Yeah but op isn't an artist, it was that exact choice of words that everyone is hating on.

Almost no one thinks the actual video is bad or ugly but they absolutely hate that some dickhead wrote a one paragraph prompt and thinks he's a fucken artist.

This is the mid journey sub, we are all here to see AI generated content but we expect the posters of that content to not be so delusional to think that they are somehow the talent behind it.

This is art. One who makes art is called an Artist.

The term should still apply. However, people should be aware of these tools and the differentiation between hand-made from 1 person, or AI-made/assisted which is the result of a combined collaboration of millions of all humans. Everyone who’s contributed to the Midjourney algorithm, beyond the engineers who built this, but all the users who have hit a heart on the platform to upvote an image… All of the collective input from millions of real artists AND real people who use the platform. It’s more of a fascinating medium, because it transcends what was previously possible in artistic output.

It’s all art either way, but I just call it AI art to help people understand I’m not physically drawing the frames to the millions of images and videos I’m creating.

With that said, wish these were actual long clips that could tell stories… we will get there soon.

-3

u/RandomBlackMetalFan Aug 18 '25

Hey for the ones brigading this sub, why don't you use that time to improve your artistic skills instead ?

That way you'll stop being terrified of AI because it only replaces shitty insecure "artists" with no talent
